Nice...except for the Voodoo guy is off. He's from AHS Coven

Yep. Interesting how he's the only IP character on the lower floor of the "party". He does look similar enough to the BOB guy where it could be a handwave either way.

Alright.  My interest is piqued.  Though I need to wait until I get home from work to give it a closer inspection.  It's the behind the scenes video or the straight up commercial?

    Both.

Also, Legacy is apparently going to reveal the original house names as he knows them on IU tonight.

Ok so, looks like IP vs. Original for house of the year comes out with Originals having more (in case anyone was wondering). I know this has been said before, as much as I love the original houses it would seem weird for Universal to NOT have houses based on IPs. Other theme parks can get away with 100% originals, but for a theme park that is already completely based around IPs, it would only make sense to have their Halloween event include IPs.

It's to me why the "Universal needs to go back to what's made HHN popular back then" makes no sense. Why should they get rid of what's making the event popular now? We can talk bad marketing all we want, but all attendance numbers seem to suggest increases in attendance in the last few years.

I know we are still waiting on the original house announcements....but I just don't undertand some of Uni's choices here. WE have a festival, which is supposedly a quasi-over-arching theme, but no leader to said activity?  Are we in for another surprise here, but why would you announce the Icon last if so? But if we are really just getting this zone of mascots instead an Icon, I'm not sure how much sense it makes. I thought Uni had seen the errors of their ways when we finally returned to having them 2 years ago. It has to be easier to drive advertising, marketing, in-park merchandising sales, etc. (I'm sure we could think of more). Hopefully we get hit with a surprise outta left field...unless someone else can shed light on any of this?

They'll use the "Festival" as the advertising. Basically an invitation to viewers of whatever commercial to come and "join the celebration".

That's the angle I'm getting at least.

why wouldnt they have done it last year? They obviously have the rights to it....

Because it was a little too in line with the Pulse shooting last year. Why would have Hollywood had it last year on not us, considering we shared in 2014?

2013 doesn't count due to TWD spam.

What they put in that scare zone last year really wasn't that different from The Purge. If they named it The Purge would anyone have even noticed a difference?

The Purge would have had a better chance of being acknowledged and complained about on media as a notable current IP.

Survive Or Die is an unknown original that media wouldn't "waste time" going after.

  6. Anyone who knows the IP's knows the characters in them. If they don't, then it's a little preview.

It's not like people aren't going to go in The Shining maze because they saw Jack standing on the street with as much as a stage probably.

Obviously, I disagree with your "event outlook" as well. But we've been through that topic so many times already.

So many years?... um... Die-In scarezones in 2009 & 2015... And lets not forget 2001's Nightmare Alley...

Also... this description is a complete joke too. "Something they've never done before?" Um... WRONG!!!! 2005... "Terra Guard Run". That was the entrance SZ for that year & it featured monsters from EVERY part of Terra Cruentus.

I meant more in taking the outsider IP's they had and putting them in a zone together. The Die-Ins (at least 2015) was mostly their already owned stuff (minus Freddy and Jason in 2015)

I think that's what they mean by the description as well.

Damn. Down to 4 scarezones? I thought 5 was bad the last couple of years. Take me back to 2009 when we had 7. Scarezones are my favorite part of the event. Kinda bummed.

Edit: Yes I know there were only 4 in 2014 as well. Still sucks. At least it's not 2012.

Nope. Still 5, Festival Of The Deadliest was awkwardly transitioned into within the paragraph.

  9. The concept art on the video looked neat.

Im guessing there will be a Soul Collection mini-show of sorts in the middle of the zone.

Legacy has said this has a rotating cast like All Nite Die In. So that also peaks my interest.

Name is bad though. "Deadliest"? That was the best idea?

  10. I'm shocked it's taken so many years into using IP's to have a zone like this. I'm guessing this was the perfect storm of IP holders agreeing?

    To guess:

AHS: Piggy Man or The Angel Of Death

    Shining: Jack

Ash V Evil Dead: Ash himself

    Saw: Pigmask Jigsaw

Blumhosue: Bride In Black from Insidious.
