  1. Not necessarily a bad thing IMO. I enjoyed some of the ones in the past (in particular the In Between). Penn and Teller could have been equally well done non-3D. A 3D house for the sake of having a 3D house is not reason enough. If creative comes up with some more interesting concepts in the future I am totally open to it though!
  2. haha true. My main concern was that they may sell out prior to the first weekend. That would be no bueno since I am in charge of taking four first timers to their first HHN weekend. *Sighs* if I could only go back and do it for the first time again! The new houses/scare zones keep it fresh each year of course...but there is nothing like going through that first house not know what a haunted house at HHN feels like.
  3. Ok, well I had to call to get my pass information from guest service (i washed my pass so I need the number to login to the site). I learned the following: Rush of Fear with Express sells out the 2nd weekend of the event if at all. The guest services rep said that this is a year-to-year thing and largely depends on the initial response to the event. Apparently he has worked there for several years and never seen a sellout of Rush of Fear with express prior to weekend 2 of the event. You can purchase up to six of any ticket type including FF or ROF passes per annual pass. Sorry to answer my own questions but I figure I would share the information straight from the horse's mouth since I spoke to a guest services rep.
  4. So...new questions... This will be my fourth year attending the event (sometimes listening to you guys talking about the "good ol' days" makes me wish I had gone sooner...although I have enjoyed myself quite a bit each year). Typically I purchase my Rush of Fear with Express pass in early September with no issue. This year due to financial reasons I will have to wait until the week the event starts Historically speaking, do these passes ever sell out prior to the first weekend? The Express option is an absolute must for me. I am just curious if I am pushing it by waiting that long. I know you all can't give me a definite answer one way or the other but feedback/opinions would be welcome.. Separate question: Can AP holders use their discount to purchase Rush of Fear with Express pass for their friends? I have four other people who want to go and I would like to give them my discount if possible. Thanks in advance for all of the information/help!
  5. Thanks for the pics Ande! Looks like everything is starting to shape up nicely. I am breaking a friend in this year (he has always wanted to go but hasn't ever. Halloween is his favorite horror film of all time so I cannot wait to see his face as we walk up to that facade. I will be waiting until dark though to get the full effect!
  6. I don't mind having access to some of the information/leaks ahead of time. Ideally I like to be surprised by 2 or 3 houses late in the game though.
  7. Alright, now that we have (mostly) everything confirmed/announced. I will weigh in with a list of most anticipated to least anticipated houses/ street experiences. HOUSES: 1)Halloween - After experiencing AWIL and CITW last year and seeing the attention to detail and the love that went into those houses I just know that this one will be great! 2)Roanoke - This one by far intrigues me the most of all the originals this year. Seems like we will get some very uniqe settings/set pieces/ "terrors" from anything seen in the past 3)Alien VS. Predator - The ONLY reason this is so high is that creative is telling the story their way. Not having to stay loyal to those mediocre (at their best) movies will help a lot with this one I think 4)Dollhouse of the Damed - Again, really interested to see how this premise plays out. I love the description on the Universal Blog. 5)Giggles and Gore - Clowns man! Also, although I agree with a lot of folks that gore is what primarily draws me to horror..I think when done right it can be really good over-the-top fun. That's what I am hoping for with this one. 6)Dracula Untold - Honestly, I don't really know enough about this IP (other than what I have seen in trailers) to be as excited as I am for some of the other mazes this year..I know I know..I really only have a paragraph to go on for the original mazes..but I have much more faith in creative when it comes to original houses 7)The Walking Dead - I don't hate TWD as much as some folks on here do but I am certainly burned out where HHN is concerned. I still love the show but I long for next year when we have a whole different house in place of TWD 8) From Dusk Til Dawn - Love the movie, show is pretty cool.. That being said I am just not that excited for this one for whatever reason. Hopefully the event will change my mind. SCARE ZONES: 1)Maskerade - This one sounds really really fun...and gory..and FUN! 2)Bayou of Blood - This could be one of the best scare zones ever from the description. Just a little wary on the execution (pardon the pun) of this one 3)The Purge Anarachy - Sounds like a cool idea but I am fairly ignorant of the IP. I know the basic premise and that is all. I need to watch the films before I go so I can appreciate it more 4)Face Off - Again, this may be one that surprises me but it seems like more mutual back scratching on the part of HHN and SYFY at this point. I like my scare zones to have a little more story I guess. - - It will be fun to see how my list of expectations here compares to my house rankings once I attend the event (something I always do for fun). I also tend to re-rank the houses midway through the event once they have tweaked some special effects, the actors have better timing, etc.
  8. Frankly, I am hoping the "few surprises" Mike mentioned will include an encounter from a certain giant royal "bitch"
  9. To clarify, that is a snippet from the full description which can be found here. http://blog.universalorlando.com/whats-new/alien-vs-predator-halloween-horror-nights-24/
  10. "You will find yourself caught in the middle of the epic battle between the Aliens and Predators as you visit one of Weyland-Yutani’s secret facilities to assist with a critical situation. This Central American bio-weapons research facility houses several divisions that deal in extra-terrestrial technologies, specifically the Alien xenomorph species." Looks like the house will be set on earth according to the press release.
