  1. Thank you for reminding me what I forgot to add to my first post, we were told on the UTH tour that the reviews on the street were split. My wife and I went the third week last year so if they were already juggling a 50/50 split by that point, I could see them rethinking their plans.

Also, JDW said earlier that he had heard rumblings that it may return for Hollywood only. From what I know, The Walking Dead street experience there was well received and, from most of the people I heard from, the street experience was better than the house. This would line up with it returning there but not returning here.

My brother did the tour the same week on Sunday and they put a lot of effort into telling us about all the "special" features of the street experience. Which to us sounded like they where really trying to upsell it.

  2. Here's the thing though... Expanding "our small circle" to include some Facebook posts still doesn't reflect the hundreds of thousands that attend the event throughout the month. This isn't the FCC where one phone call represents one billion people; for every one complaint about TWD or repeats or IPs, there are three posts asking for more Freddy Kruger, Jason Voorhees and other recognizable, non-Universal IPs. That's what the general public wants.

Yes, people at Universal listen. Unfortunately, the people who "listen" aren't necessarily the people who can really do all that much about it. If upper-management wants a more commercially approachable event then that is what is created. The people who care REALLY care, and they want to make the best event possible for the fans. And they actually DO. They adapt what they can to appeal to our taste. Hell, a few of us have been saying for years that the house layouts had gotten formulaic and droll when small regional haunts were making guests crawl and climb. And then they FINALLY did a crooked floor... and a crawl space. We wanted more fliers, we got more fliers. We wanted more elaborate "set" scares, we got those. Just because the general theme behind a house isn't what we want doesn't mean they're aren't listening... it means we aren't looking hard enough.

Fans can wax poetic about the good old days (Jeramy and I have had this conversation numerous times before), and we may get surprised next year. Personally, I'm holding out hope for a return to Terra Cruentes for a ten-year anniversary. But practically, rationally, what we have is what we're going to get. I know I'm a broken record on this, but until people who don't like the route the event is going stop going (or until tens of thousands of people start saying they won't go on Facebook), we will continue to get the Hollywood treatment.

To add to this remember the survey they sent out after last year and the questions about making HHN more appealing to children.

  3. Heck seeing how I'm literally ripping ideas out of my story now (that will never be finished... it's been 20 years).

Why not just a phobias house? Each room is a different phobia. Razors, germs, reptiles, etc. But with a twist.

I love this idea. There is so much they could do with it. Heck if implemented in a certain fashion they could probably change it week to week and make it even creepier.

  4. I'm not into the idea of video game houses because I don't play video games. However, my son plays them, and he keeps telling me about this game Outlast. He said he can't even play it because it scares the crap out of him. Just tossing it out there as to your thoughts on this?

I don't think it has enough brand name recognition for them to use it as an IP house.

  5. I am still pretty baffled that Twister is still standing.

They replace King Kong, Back to the Future, Now Jaws,Jimmy Newtron, They replace all these rides and stuff... and Twister is the one that is still standing?

like, wtf? They could totally make that into a Walking Dead ride or something. or A 3D movie.

Lots of people still go through Twister though. And Disaster is rumored to be getting the axe for a Kong ride.

  6. i know some people have said this already on facebook and stuff (i probably said it before too) But if it brings that many people in they should just do a Walking Dead ride or replace Terminator with Walking Dead or something.... I mean seriously, Imagine the amount of people that would attend the park with both the new Potter side and with a Walking Dead ride or experience. If it brings this much people in for October alone, Why can't they do something that becomes Permanent? Doesn't even have to be that gory.... They could make it scary but not show any walkers eating people or anything.

OR why not make it a year round house?

I don't see them getting rid of Terminator with a new movie rumored with Arnie in it and Cameron writing it. I've even seen a rumor or two that it is going to be refreshed.
