  1. None of it really matters. You either accept the changes or you don't. You can go crazy worrying about what has been or "could be" but, it will not effect what will be.

Like C3P0's leg... you DON'T remember it to always be gold. It was ALWAYS silver. Even if you DO remember it to be gold you are mistaken. So... where was I going with that? Uh never mind. You don't remember it anyway.

Just throwing it out there, but I joined this board because I'm stoked to check everything out for my first time and get pointers and advice from everyone. Stopped checking this forum near as much because of the constant negativity. I think everything they've announced is awesome, but also get that I never got to see the years that people considered HHN in its 'prime.' Things may be different, but damn, at least let people check the employee sneak peak (or whatever it's called)! If you want to tell me to get fucked for being a nu-nee or whatever, that's fine, but I'm just giving an honest outside opinion.

It's pretty par for the course. Always has been. But I agree. People need to chill.

I'll be there Friday with bells on... well actually no not with bells (security would wrestle me to the ground for that). I will be there none the less so if you see a guy with a glowing purple tie (if that is allowed, they may consider it a garotte) say hi.

I know there's another forum for merchandise, but I'm just gonna post it here too.

Here's some of this year's merchandise for HHN 26. This was found off of Universal Orlando's website under merchandise. These are obviously not all the merch, and the rest won't be revealed till we're closer to the event.

Not a huge fan of this design. It's mostly cool but the logo as her gaping mouth seems jarring. Unless they were going for that. Got that whole strain/blade 2 thing going.

Where did you find this one?

Not really that much different but there she is. I don't see how 1 second of footage changes ones opinion. I think it works on a basic level. Playing on the theater of the mind idea.

... and hooray the site is now functional. Nothing left to complain about till opening night then ;)

I kid I kid. I'm pretty jazzed even though it will be crowded. Planing my attack now. :ninja:

  4. Valid points. I am calm (If you meant me) and I really care very little except to shake my head and say "Tsk Tsk". Who am I that they would care at all what I think?

The event does start next week though... and this is the first we have heard from the commercial? Not even an official source but a TV screen of the Coke version on Twitter. Don't get me wrong, props to Charles for being quick on the draw, but shouldn't the commercial have been released with the full announcement? I don't pretend to know how mass marketing works (I mean it is a struggle just to get my little show noticed by anyone) but I always thought the earlier the better. I also thought it was better to release it yourselves and not have it leaked by someone else but it seems to work for them most years. *shrugs*

Either way I'm truly excited by the lineup in a way I have not been in a very long time. Cough*Krampus*Cough. So I don't care about the advertising and I don't really care what is best for Comcast either. As long as I have fun it's all good.

  5. Does it really matter honestly? At the end of the day everyone is going right? That's all Comcast sees is the end result.

It hasn't changed one thing to get upset over it in the past and it has only steadily declined.

I was miffed that the website isn't informative or really even functioning.... let alone interesting. It still isn't and it shows that the majority of people don't care. So why should I?

Is that a typo? Shouldn't there be an 's' after the apostrophe for Banshee's Lair?

    yep

Unrelated, I decided not to do the express. No matter how nice it is I just can't justify the exorbitant price. Went with the ROF and will probably attempt two nights. So that may cut down on my stress levels a bit. Well, that and my recent zen approach of indifference to the event. Bottom line is attempt to have fun and not have it suck. Unlike my experience at MNSS last night which I (overall) found to be not worth the money or effort for a AP holder (even with kids).

    Related to the above,

Here is a interesting read on the price hikes for Universal in general. (The three price hikes in the past 16 months)

Has anyone ever had any success asking their Publix to take the standee home after the event? I want one so bad.

I have several it just depends on the manager and if they care. I've had them promise it and throw it away as well. FYE gave me many while they still existed. poster and what not. I have a 2007 mobile which is pretty nifty

  8. So with everything revealed (basically) I guess that's really it for the site. Probably the least interesting site since 2001. It isn't even intuitive how to find the list of attractions.

    [rant]

There is a difference between saving money and being completely unhelpful.

    For example:

The Hollywood site has a big 'ole attractions button. This leads you to a drop down list where you can select the type of attraction you want to check out.

Orlando you have to click about+/ announcements and scroll between the various announcements. No real graphics, just some quick titles and buttons to read more. It's sad that I'm holding up the Hollywood site as a comparison.

Now check out the site I did for Dare2Escape if you are so inclined (shameless plug). It has a phone, desktop, and tablet version. It expands and contracts with breakpoints. The attractions are front and center and it leads you to the descriptions and videos for the attractions and that leads you further to the full descriptions. Plus there is a button at the top to take you directly to the rooms.

I'm not tooting my own horn as D2E told me what they wanted and I made it work on as many platforms as I could. But my point is this: I am just one guy with a small budget, working a full-time job, with a show and website that I also do on the side (second shameless plug), AND I built a more intuitive site.

They have people (or contractors) that it's their job to do this kind of thing no? Shouldn't the bottom line of a website be that it is a.) functional b.) easy to use and c.) enticing? It won't matter either way though I'm sure. This year will be gut busting on the crowds and profits with or without the website. So is it just their notoriety that allows them to get away with it? I guess.

This popped a loooong while back stating it was involved in HHN. While the source is a bit... dubious, we do have a weird fisherman's SZ and I heard "Lovecraftian" a long time ago as well. I would be 100% on board for an Innsmouth SZ. The boat is named Annabel Lee as well. While that may just be a nod to Poe, the poem also ties to the sea. It could be an excuse to recycle the forsaken masks.

Either way, Sounds like a good time.

One thing I'm a little shocked on is "survive or Die" sounds like the spiritual successor to "Saws N Steam". Yet it's getting glossed over. I know it was a retooling of The Purge area but the whole air aspect has me intrigued. This could give us some unique characters and story elements. Along with some really cool masks. Now we just need the image mapping back.
