We were told this directly from security at the metal detector at valet.  One of our group had to remove his baseball hat going thru the metal detector so the guard could check it for fish hooks.  That's exactly what he said.. so, of course, we said, "WHAT?"  He went on to explain that there have been people "smuggling in fish hooks", and they literally use them to attack the scareactors - my assumption is, they are literally hooking them with these and running.  We were stunned into complete silence when he told us that.

I hope they were charged with "attempted assault with a weapon". Seriously what is wrong with people?!?

As for the enthusiasm. It does die down afterwards but... usually there is an influx of pictures and videos on the forum. I personally have little reason to come back (except the occasional random curiosity) . The event is a distant memory to me now. Onward to different things.

  2. Does anyone know a horror artists who wants to be highlighted in my show for Saturday? I did not realize there were so many pretentious artists out there that didn't like free advertisement. If you haven't watched, I highlight an artist in each show with roughly 5 of their pieces and link to all their sites to promote.

  3. While everyone else was out shopping for emergency supplies, I was out shopping for an emergency hand (apparently I was low on severed hands). However, nobody needs to worry, I got the hand. It was touch and go... had to fight somebody for it. But now we're set.

  4. I might as well finish this off.

To get the value out of our ticket, we went back Sunday.

Started off good. Walk on to Halloween. Nice sets, decent scare. I'm just not a Halloween fan. 6 of 10

We passed through Layer of the Banshee twice during the back and forth. The new aginess was toned down and this really added to the vibe of the area. I still felt it was kind of weak but the costumes are pretty cool. I imagine when it is dark it probably works even better. 7 of 10 now.

In fact the ambience has been changed. I didn't hear all the 90's angst rock anymore. Much more effective.

I wanted to find the Dominion in Survive or Die and pledge Dreaded Dominions' allegiance to the faction (hey they have my name and my color!)

    But:

a.) I didn't come as JW and was just in my civvies

b.) I have a very strict timeframe to do everything

So we headed straight to The Walking Dead. It said 15 minutes... 45 minutes later we entered the house. I hate TWD. However, bias aside, this was a decent and well-constructed house. It isn't as empty and massive as two years ago and, well, anything would have been an improvement over last year. 6 of 10

Then we headed to our last house AHS. I 'm not a fan of the show. I watched murder house and thought it was OK but a bit to vulgar for my tastes. However, I wanted to see the "most biggestes house Evar!" waded through now bursting crowds and... 150 min wait. Sorry, I'm just not that hardcore. Even if it was off  by... say an hour in my favor, that's still and hour and 1/2 wait time. So, with much chagrin, we closed our misadventure's on a down note.

Honestly I didn't even want to go back. But what I did see was good. I just don't like crowds and the crowds were unbearable. I thought Sundays were good. But I was quickly informed on FB that "Sunday is the new Saturday" well gee, sorry I didn't know that. Not that my schedule permits, either way, to change that.

That's it. Overall: Great houses, atmosphere was lacking but improved. Scare zones were decent but crowded, crowds are just too much for me period.

  5. In this episode JW tackles sexism in witch movies, along with other stereotypes, and gets a surprise visit from upper management.

Thanks man. Wish you could have seen everything this year.

After experiencing HHN 22-25, I'm convinced HHN 26 marks the beginning of a new chapter for HHN; where Universal makes an effort to create an event the die hard fans and general public can both love.

Thanks, we are going to go back on Sunday so hopefully I can hit the last 3 houses. Maybe get in some of the ones I liked as well.

Also wanted to point out, before they told us no pics, they mentioned how the news had already  hit the Internet "like a bomb". They're definitely monitoring this site and Orlando United for reactions.

I found the tour to be worth while from a design aspect. Pics were secondary. Honestly didn't take a single photo inside Ghost Town. I was too busy gawking over everything. Plus, as soon as one person took a photo of something, another person in the group HAD to do it too; causing a chain reaction.

See when I did them I was always one step ahead of the group or one step behind. I want to document as much detail as possible. Otherwise the houses disappear from my memory eventually. The stories are interesting and I love many of their tour guides, but I'm there to document the sets. A few years ago, it just became impossible to do. Their were so many people on the tours I had to be either too far behind or too far ahead. Plus the price hikes overall killed the tradition.

We were told no pics inside IP houses because it came from corporate. Ghost Town was fair game.

I assumed AHS was the IP since the evening tour seems to have switched AHS for Krampus.

Well TBF Linda Blair had no problem with her likeness being used. But that says nothing for money hungry lawyers.

Maybe we'll never know for sure. But is this the end of the UMTH. I mean I haven't been on one in two years because of the price hikes and the deluge of people they cram on the tour. So, if you aren't super big on pics, I can see this working in your favor. It will thin the herd.

  9. Tour still broke? Welp, either my person was wrong or this is a complicated issue.

I would think, if it was just one IP, they would just go around it. Unless there is some kind of corporate red tape involved.

But I've also been told it is an issue with the Exorcist and the likeness of Linda Blair. So IDK.

Also, any reason why the info came out of Universal Orlando Twitter and not the HHN Orlando Twitter?

Well that's bc Chris asked directly.

I'll bet a phone call would clear it up... until you call again, get a different person, and they tell you something different.

It's the weekend. Anyone know anyone that went on it today?

If the problem is a house like AHS or Exorcist, then I would still personally want to go in and just be told no pictures in this specific house so I can hear and learn about it.

Also, where is some proof that all will soon be right?

I got none. Just rumors from reliable sources. So take it with a grain of salt. Personally, this has blown up in universal's face. I would think they would make a public statement on social sties. BUT that has happened so...

Couldn't agree more...and that's what I was trying to say.  They'd be pissing away hundreds of thousands of "free" dollars.  I guess my scatterbrainedness of finishing up stuff for work, getting this news, last minute packing, and...well, an adult beverage or two have me throwing up half-assed posts :)

I'm at work too. And haven't slept more than 4 hours a night in the last week.. so might just be me :P
