  1. In this episode, JW gets a workout, talks about death, and gets an upgrade.
  2. Pretty cool. what program did you use for your models?
  3. Testing lighting for next episode... So so flattering

  5. Burning Bloody Bones! JW got the itch to be creative and decided to do a speed painting. What could go wrong? A lot. Shout out to Sinister Gomez! You inspired JW to paint.
  6. From what grave did I come? From what evil mixture was I compounded?

  7. I mean the obvious chauvinist and button pushing comment aside, the argument that women don't make for scary antagonist is entirely subjective. Some of the most unsettling movies I've seen were the Grudge and The Ring. Both of which are a.) eastern and b.) Ghosts. Oddly enough, menacing ghosts in movies are very often female. Not sure what the connection is there. Eastern cultures tend to gravitate towards female antagonist and they freak me out pretty heavily (Kuchisake-onna comes to mind). The rare exception in the West (Baby Firefly) comes along but mostly it's run by males. Mostly I blame Hollywood for this stereotype. The western Patriarchal society tends to see strong men as the major antagonist with the women as the damsel in distress. But that is slowly shifting. The irony of this is, I imagine, those who don't find women as a scary antagonist would, if you can manage, flip and find it extremely scary if you could manage to subvert their expectations. So it would behoove the stale industry to find ways to make women scary to chauvinists... and well just subvert the norm. Horror is about unpredictability after all. Maybe I should do a show on it.
  8. Looking for, at least two, sites to film in. One is for the show, the other is for a short film. I have three short films planned so, hopefully, I will get them all filmed by October (fingers crossed). But finding it a challenge to get places to shoot. One is a Concrete stairwell with several floors. Preferably abandoned or lacking in use. The darker the better. The other is a public bathroom. I'm thinking maybe I can locate the owners of the Artegon and see if I can film in there. It's closed so there wouldn't be any distraction.
  9. 3 Rare indeed. I saw the meandering trainwreck that was Stephen King's remake of the Shining. Don't get me wrong, The shining Novel was amazing but, as is, it just didn't translate well to a movie. (Like most of his stories). IMHO Kubrick and Jack made that IP.
  10. Happy April Fish Day! Or something like that. In this episode, JW talks about identity and recieves unwanted guests.

  12. I LOL'd when I saw that as well. Granted there is some merit to the method as they have played their hand a few times this way. I remember all the house code names were embedded in the game pages for Lady luck. Texas could also be House of 1000 corpses, From Dusk Till Daw, Planet Terror/Death Proof, or The Town the Dreaded Sundown... But I mean of course it TCM. Meh. Throw for a loop Universal with Bubba Ho-Tep . Honestly, other than the possibility of The Shining (and "creepy hotel" has been done to death anyway), nothing they potentially have in the works is peaking my interest really. So it won't be hard to skip this year at all. Krampus pulled me in last year.
  13. The next episode is forthcoming, should be this Friday. It his a very labor intensive episode. If I ever see a green screen again... It will probably be next episode. Also, I found out this week that Dreaded Dominions was given an IMDB page so, I've been working to get it up to speed.
  14. They tried to make it seem like an orphanage... But according to that town's Holy Scriptures, it was actually the center of their religion...

  15. Well there is the possible loophole that Kurbrick's version of the shining would not under King's control. that and who knows the new "It"'s rights. He hates Kurbick's version and always says nobody does his work right. But, when he faithfully translates his work to screen it always ends up with great build up and then just leaves you scratching your head for the last half. Plus movies like Maximum Overdrive (which he had complete control over) was just a failure. I always said his work doesn't translate properly to movies. He's probably afraid they don't translate to haunted houses either... To some degree I understand that. His work is about random rabbit holes and vast story lines the don't always go anywhere but the world build. there is no way you can pack that in to a house of Boo. Still EVERYONE knows his work. At this point you still can convey the idea of books/movies without having to explain everything. Crimson Peak is a good example of that. Everyone said the house was beautiful but nobody got it because the story is complex and hard to glean from the house. however, if it had been a big hit and came out after the movie it may have been a different story.
  16. I wouldn't even be surprised to she Jack and Chance back again. They have been very well-received the last few yeas. Years Logo exactly like the last few.... That or HHN with a bloody 27. Streets are always a crap shoot
  17. Well you have Insidious 4, Get out, and The mummy directly from Universal. Get Out is wildly popular and would be an easy house. Insidious we have already had and was popular so would be a safe bet. the mummy... I honestly don't think it would translate well. then again, we had the original... twice? I guess it depends on how the movie will be handled. In the indirect Universal department, Krampus was very successful. So Trick R' Treat is a possibility. Not sure how BIG of one. Other Legendary titles. Kong: Skull Island and The Great Wall solid possibilities. I haven't been following either side but I'm sure Hollywood has code names and a good idea. But, with IT coming out September 8... would be safe, dual coast, synergy and New Line Cinema has worked with them before. Other than that of course the shining would be amazing. Classic Throwback... IDK that's tough they've done all their dream projects I'm aware of. Curve ball: Funhouse or My Bloody Valentine. I've come to the conclusion they will never directly do HP Lovecraft. Just things inspired by it. But At the Mountains of Madness, dunwich horror,The Shunned House, and, of course, shadow over Innsmouth. However, you still have Carrie, Cujo, and Christine that could be done as well. Originals: Nightingales vs body collectors, Something inspired by Lovecraft. Something 3D. Maybe the boogeyman/dark ritual house that was scrapped a few years back. It's also been a while since we have had a "true meaning of Halloween" house. So maybe and old world style "the Hallow"-esque type house.
  18. Well... no info to go on. Leaks were either stopped up or they lost interest. On top of all that, it isn't hard to figure out a general idea every year for a lineup. The walking Dead Classic horror IP (last year was 3 classic IPS) Whatever IP is being shared Whatever IP Universal is pushing in line with whatever movie they have out that's at the very least half of your line up. Now throw in 2 originals. Impossible to really know (probably another 3D house and/or one sequel) that's 6 of 8 at least The rest is kind of a grab bag , maybe original, maybe classic IP, Maybe sharing more than one, maybe another movie universal is pushing. Probably just a mix of the previous. Personally, the formula kills the speculation. It's easy enough to fill in the blanks so there isn't any real need for speculation. I think many can accurately guess 80% before the previous event has ended. It's just the nature of things. Original are much harder to deduce. So when it was primarily originals with sequels not being the norm, it there was a lot more to speculate. Now all someone has to say to leak it is "King" or Insidious" and you don't need to describe the house at all. It all will eventually leak anyway. I'd say mayish it will probably be known by those who seek it.

  20. NO I did MNSS last year... I will not be doing it again. Waaay overpriced. Bummed I didn't make it out to the lights on tour of Shallow Grave though. She was hyped about it (she's a weird 3 year year old) but my brakes and rotors went. Honestly not sure what this year holds for me. I guess it's a big surprise. Definitely not PLANNING on HHN or even HOS. But who knows where the buffalo chips will fall.
  21. HA! I hear you! Mine is three so still way too young. To be clear, I've got no hate for HHN at all. My decision to not go largely boils down price and time. I'm very limited in what haunts I can go to in the haunt season now so I'm starting to just branch out and do the things I enjoy most. Smaller, more intimate haunts are my deal now. Plus I like to include my child so also more family friendly festivities as well. Just the seasons of life is all. I'm still curious to see what comes down the pipe this year for HHN and if someone threw me a free pass I wouldn't turn it down (unless I just couldn't swing it). But it is what it is. I can relate to Critical to some degree... But life and things change. Best to adapt or move on. If I were to go I'd just ignore the things I don't like as there is no good in complaining about it.
  22. It's a different generation. A different era. This event is not for tailored to us. Or, more specifically, to those who want creepy park atmosphere, super immersive experiences, and a full out theme. It's about party atmosphere, selling to the widest audience, and selling alcohol... Which all means money. The event still has appealing aspects in various degrees but, it just isn't going to sit in a holding pattern. If you want it to change, change the people who pay because that is the only way things change. As that won't happen, you either change or move on.
