  1. Reading everyone's reviews on the event, most pretty much line up with my expectations vs reality vs overall outcome that I've come to expect over the years.

While it seems like some great originals, still feel it was a solid decision not to go this year. I would have liked to have seen Tirck r' Treat (favorite all-time horror movie aside from Jacob's Ladder) and the walkthrough's of the originals look on point. Just not enough to bring me back.

Hope everyone has a fun year! I'll probably pop back up next year.

  2. Despite my qualms with HHN, Universal proper, their marketing, and greedy corporations. Mike is a great guy. Friends defend friends. The creatives who work the event have a passion for the event. They do what they can with what they are told.

Anyhoo. I just saw that Dead Waters house. looks top-notch. Almost makes me want to go... almost.

There were rights issues with the Alien movies because Disney owned the theme park rights to the Alien movies. AvP was another loophole. Disney owns/owned Alien franchise theme park rights, but not AvP rights.

Right if I remember correctly it was originally Aliens.

HHN 21 only had one IP and I consider that one of the best years

Oddly, it was the last one I really enjoyed. *Shrug* OK I liked a lot of 22 as well... but the scourge that was TWD started then and the dynamic started changing. Not to mention they botched my favorite IP of all time (Silent Hill).

It doesn't matter, the song remains the same. It is the same today as it was in '08 as it was in '98 (with less internet). As soon as there were forums there were people bashing how they didn't like changes to the event.

I recently purchased a 2017 Challenger. My wife affectionately named it "Gray Ghost". So, This is the design for the decal going on the back window. Also an altered version for a custom laser etched liscence plate on the front.

This is the first actual drawing I've done in a while.  I call it "The 95%".

Oh and the show is on hiatus... Maybe permanently. I'm tired of all the effort and no return. It's not really enjoyable anymore. Maybe I'll pick it up later but I'm focusing on things I want to do right now. (Like working out to get a six pack ;) )

  6. Good to see nothing changes here. I just found out about the whole possible icon deal. Have not tapped a single source (no point not going).

But I did go to the hhn page for giggles. That skull animation is odd. Anyone take it apart? There are some odd highlights. Not really sure why it needed to be animated in the first place.

That's all I got. Back to others things.

  7. I mean the obvious chauvinist and button pushing comment aside, the argument that women don't make for scary antagonist is entirely subjective. Some of the most unsettling movies I've seen were the Grudge and The Ring. Both of which are a.) eastern and b.) Ghosts. Oddly enough, menacing ghosts in movies are very often female. Not sure what the connection is there.

Eastern cultures tend to gravitate towards female antagonist and they freak me out pretty heavily (Kuchisake-onna comes to mind). The rare exception in the West (Baby Firefly) comes along but mostly it's run by males. Mostly I blame Hollywood for this stereotype.

The western Patriarchal society tends to see strong men as the major antagonist with the women as the damsel in distress. But that is slowly shifting. The irony of this is, I imagine, those who don't find women as a scary antagonist would, if you can manage, flip and find it extremely scary if you could manage to subvert their expectations. So it would behoove the stale industry to find ways to make women scary to chauvinists... and well just subvert the norm. Horror is about unpredictability after all.

Maybe I should do a show on it.
