  1. It may be my internet connection, but I haven't had a problem until now.

I am receiving an error message when attempting to look up permits for universal.

I do a parcel search. I have tried IE and Mozilla. Look for permits tomorrow or later tonight.

I looked earlier today and didn't see anything. I also can not look up with Mozilla... ever.

However I DID try just now and found nothing... typically, "Halloween Horror Nights" followed by the number, a few years it was hhn... Halloween usually brings up horror nights... but I found nothing.

On a slightly related note, I finished my concept tree for the gate... Having trouble with the details..

    What do you guys think?

  2. Jeez already?! I'm so excited though of course.

Yep preliminary house construction starts on the SS either this week or next.

I just remembered something. Outside of "The Hallow" we had the terra throne branches. I thought it was just the reuse of props... but You guys might be on to something. It has inspired me. I will be tweaking my entrace I made a few weeks back and putting it on my fan page.

  3. It was nearly one year ago in May of last year that the "code-words" for the 8 houses were discovered from the work permits. I expect that Chad, or some other enterprising soul will uncover this year's code words sometime in the next couple of weeks!

Right well tey said at hauntCon that they would be impossibly hard to decipher... Maybe just a number? Hopefully not. I would prefer a riddle to occupy our time.

I did check the site but, unfortunately cannot find the permits from this year... Perhaps filed differently... and just going by 1000 Universal Studios pz... gives you 300 some odd applications and it refuses to list any more than 250.

So someone will probably have to go down there to get the names... Unless you are a better guesser than I.

  4. Does anybody remember precisely when the archive site (you know, this one>http://websites.horrornights.be/archives/) went up last year? I seem to think it was in May, does anybody have the exact date?

EDIT - after checking last year's website thread, it seems likely that the archive site went up on Monday, June 1, 2009 and the teaser site went up on Thursday, June 25, 2009.

If this is incorrect please advise me, but following this pattern we should expect the archive site up this year about four weeks from now on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 with a teaser up perhaps by Thursday, June 24, 2010?

    Well technically it never left...

    It's still there:

    right here

But it does feel like it's slow going on the updates... I've already heard some updates on HOS.

But I think you're right... I would check the "other" site but they still haven't fixed it so that I can look at the old threads. But nick posed the June 1st one so its probably really close to if not the day.

  5. I dont know the connection just yet, im still figuring that out.

and the "root of all evil" has something to do with Cary, Ohio I think.

Root of evil... tree... gorewood tree... HHN15

At least when you said tree and root that was the logic connection in my head.

what's the deal with Cary, Ohio? Is that like Stephen King's Derry ya think?

  6. Let us hope that this clue refers more to the former than the latter!

LOL Doc... I can just see a house full of brightly colored contruction paper, paste, and safe-T scissors.

Yeah, I think the quote was something along the lines of "One of the houses is arts and crafts... It will take forever to detail out".

I'm a bit flabbergasted on what that would mean but your explination is better that what I thought up... :P

  7. Oh, I'm sure they are creating the website right now. So when the time comes for the full website to be reveled it will be put up. Hell, it might already be done and just waiting on the server, who knows? I just hope LT will be back.

Well Ray is the one who does it... Him and Rick... and if he doesn't know... then it aint built.

  8. I also spoke with the person who does the website and asked about how the website would be like in comparison to 2008 with a great story to the (insert neg. word here) 2009 website (IMO). Rest assured by what he was telling me, we are gonna get the back story fit for the 20th Anniversary. Although he couldn't share any details as he claimed he didn't know much, he said we should be in for a treat. Also hinted that LT would return, as that is something we have been speculating for some time now.

I found it interesting the Ray said he wont even know anything about what the website will even be for another few weeks.

  9. A moving scarezone, could work if they did not use the tractors and floats, maybe a parade

with just scarectors and small mobile props. Some sort of a small show/performance.

And of course they would have beads /coins and some loud errie music. (3-4 times a night)

If done correctly it could actualy blend in with other scarezones, depending on the theme.

Isn't that what they did for 2007 that failed miserably? As long as it doesn't take away the other SZ I can see it working.

I had brought it up somewhere (forget which forum) to have a Parade float graveyard as a scarezone... but I don't know how scary that would be.

Or maybe have a SZ call the "festival of the dead", and come up with a story behind the whole thing. Maybe incorporate the float designs into the props.

  10. I really want the S.S. Firghttanic to show up in some way. I love the Icons... but I also loved all the years before that. It seems everyone's main focus usually revolves around the year they first went and up... but 50% of the events history took place BEFORE Jack.

Otherwise, I would like to see something fro 14 comes back, personally, as it was the one year I didn't go and, apparently, the houses were amazing.

  11. Ugh! Jeramy just spoiled the day! :)

    Sorry I wasn't trying to. :)

I mean what was it last year... $70.00? that is more than my ticket and my wife's combined last year! I'd rather just go three nights and hit everything that I missed the first night.

I just don't like the idea at all... if its too expensive not needed. If its too cheap then I would feel I might need too. I would just hate to send that kind of money and have walks ons all night.

  12. I took the survey. I thought the new express pass idea was poor. Granted it was very pricy... But here's what happens:

I'm good at timing it out and I make it to all the houses no problem 3,4, or 5 times a night. I have never bought and express pass and don't see the need to.

BUT... with this new proposed pass. I could be waiting in line while people WHO JUST GOT OUT of the house could zoom right back in and I have to take a back seat to them. I don't see how that is fair or appealing to me. I don't want to pony up more money (I already spend over four hundred dollars between tickets and merchandise for two people!). To me it is just causing more problems and is an attempt to get more money out of me. The answer for me is to simply not be able to go as much which would suck. It would not entice me to spend more money.

On top of that the more people with the express pass.. the more I have to wait. Gee... where do I sign up?

  13. As Chip said, it does seem to include most FL Halloween Events, thus making it nothing official from Universal. I'd like to see more information on it though, even a cover and back cover.

Right well The good doctor did some research on it. Looks like the company who makes the book has a habit of stealing wiki sites, making books, and selling them really expensive.

  14. The reason for the parade rumor is two part:

1.) Because Universal has renewed the trademark "Festival of the Dead"

    2.) this bit of information

Halloween Horror Nights 2010 (HHN 2010) at Universal Studios Florida® and Islands of Adventure® will begin in September, 2010 and conclude on October 31, 2010. This spine-chilling attraction is always one of the area’s most popular events and is in fact one of the largest seasonal themed events of its kind in the country. It must be noted that this attraction is too intense for smaller children.

The Halloween Horror Nights 2010 activities include a Halloween parade, haunted homes, frightening scare zones, lively dead entertainment, and themed performances. This year’s occasion also includes a Rocky Horror Picture Show salute plus scary appearances by an array of monsters, beasts, ogres, hellions and devilish creatures.

    popped up on this page.

It also reports that both parks will be utilized for the event. Oddly enough both videos it shows are from the Hollywood event.

  15. As I posted "over there", if you look at the original permit, there is a note at the bottom that references that same 1/27/2010 date about the plan documents being scanned. I think the SCN records just indicate that the drawings from the original permit have been scanned and provides a cross reference back to the original permit. There are other recent SCN records for other Universal projects such as Harry Potter, parade building construction, Mel's, etc.

Oh I see I hadn't seen you post. In that instance this would mean nothing in regards to this year then.

  16. So this was posted at "the place not to be named" ... and it is as perplexing as it is intriguing.

    scn2010-00226.jpg

I checked it it is a legitamate Work Order.

It shows the date as being added at 1/27/2010 and it refrences the orginal creatures...

But Creatures, as a full-blown house, makes no sense this year.

    So what does it mean?

Are they just modifying old records so that we cannot see the names/codenames for the houses?.. or is it something entirely different?

  17. Instead of Stupid surveys, they should take groups of us into the Horror make-up theater and have like an open forum on what we want to see lol, but doubt we'll ever get anything close to that.

Man I would PAY to be able to do that! I don't know how they would choose but certain members, 18 or older, and a small fee sounds good to me... hopefully I would be one of them... :P

  18. I would really like to see The Shining (it is my favorite 'horror' movie) but I'm afraid that I'd be disappointed because my expectations would be too high.

I think it could be done well. The scares were simple yet very effective in the film. I think part of it would HAVE to have the masqurade ball. (Bio shock ripped this off and it was effective there too.)

you could have the snowy labrynth, the dead woman in the bathtub, the twin girls and the hallway splattered with their blood... The possibilites are endless.
