  1. Back to my original guess, El Cuco (El Hombre del Saco, The Bogey Man).

    Translated to English from http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_hombre_del_saco

1910 . Gádor , Almería . Francisco Ortega was a sick Moorish tuberculosis desperately seeking a cure for his disease. This went to the healer Agustina Rodriguez, who in .......

    yada, yada, yada, etc., etc.

OM fricking G, I feel like such a derp!!! I just realized that when I made that post, I had somehow missed reading like at least 10 pages of you guys going over all of this...

You guys were probably thinking, "Yeah, okay Jill, El Cuco, WE GET IT ALREADY! *rolls eyes* *wonders if Jill hit her head or is on heavy medication*..."

  2. Tthe whole reason I joined this forum last year was to learn a good strategy for HHN, and I took what I learned here and it worked amazingly. =)

Def do early entry and if given the choice of TT or lower lot, choose lower lot if you have the FOL. We had all of lower to ourselves (group of about 20 -30) for a half hour - practically EVERYONE in early entry chose the TT. We were able to do Transformers, SH, TCM, some fairly quick shopping, Mummy, SH, J Park, TCM and then head upstairs just as the masses were heading down*. :)

*All without needing to use the FOL even once!

  3. To all you thinking Washington Irving's story could be introduced in this maze "pumpkin"; I'll just quote Dr. Jimmy... "She's going to be busy elsewhere(La Llorona in...). But another Latin Legend will be haunting Hollywood this year. Ancient he is. Sounds sweet as chocolate."

Back to my original guess, El Cuco (El Hombre del Saco, The Bogey Man).

    Translated to English from http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_hombre_del_saco

1910 . Gádor , Almería . Francisco Ortega was a sick Moorish tuberculosis desperately seeking a cure for his disease. This went to the healer Agustina Rodriguez, who in turn sent him to the barber and healer Francisco Leone. Apparently, Leona already had a criminal record and, in exchange for 3,000 of the old royal revealed "the cure" drink the blood which arose from the body of a child and slather on chest hot butter.

Julio Hernandez Leone and the fool, son of Agustina healer, they offered to find the child. And so, on the evening of June 28 of 1910 , Bernardo kidnapped Gonzalez Parra of 7 year-old from Rioja . Putting a child in a sack, criminals took him to a secluded farmhouse in Araoz Agustina had prepared.

A brother of Julio Hernandez dumb, Joseph, was to tell the customer the Moorish, leaving his wife Elena making dinner.

The murder of Bernardo was so small: dazed after removal of the sac, to Bernard cut him in the arm, from which emanated the Moorish drank blood mixed with sugar. After that they brought him to the place known as Las Pocicas, where Leona killed him crushing his skull with a rock. Then I extracted fat and omentum to make a compress to apply to chest Francisco Ortega.

Finish the ritual, the lifeless body hidden in a crevice, covered with herbs and stones without being buried, located in a place known as The Pocicas.

El Cuco is often depicted as having a pumpkin head.

How to tie in w the 70's, though?......

A Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse version of tale, maybe?

Damn! Just googled "Grindhouse" for more background before I post ...

and Eli Roth's IMDB page came back with this:

Grindhouse (producer - fake trailer segment)

    !!

It'd be an interesting way for Murdy to present an original maze - while keeping to his preferred format of making "our guest feel like they got up from their movie seats, walked through the screen, and now they have to live in the world".

  4. Recapping the ScareZone predictions, kudos to DTH for calling The Purge...

    The Purge
    Klownz Attack London
    Biohazard Toxic Waste (French Street)
Tip Toe Thru the Tulips (Lower Lot)
The Walking Dead roaming scareactors street experience (similar to Orlando... idk, just a guess)

..and Straightedge earns bonus points for not only calling The Purge, but Curse of Chucky too (kinda)! :)

So far, I'm batting .0000.... (unless we count "possessed toys"... lol)

    My guess:

Freakz or some variation of (Possessed toys, maybe?) in lower lot

    Wandering Walkers, like DTH said

Dark Streets of London (outside BS 13: 3D)

And because they sound disgusting the Revenge of the Pigs man-piggies (war man-piggies?) replacing Klownz

Almost next best thing (to me, at least!)...I'm feeling slighty smug that I got in a Twitter "called it" to Murdy just prior to the event :

    1. @HorrorNights Hope you're sleeping well, Murdy! T minus 10 hrs til we find out about... Insidious? :)

    2. @Midtowngirl916 Up now...baby monitors are amazing at waking you up

    Heehee! :D

  5. Thanks for the responses guys!

I stayed at the sheraton in 2008 it was beautiful and very close they have trams that take you to the park during the day the only downfall (other than the price was expensive ) was after you leave hhn (we left at 130ish that year) there was no tram to take us to the hotel so we had to walk down the hill which sucked...

BClown, you were walking downhill, how bad could it be? lol jk

    Checking it now, thanx!

Seriously though, based on what I've read so far on TravelAdvisor, Yelp!, etc., Sheraton is all over the Hilton, but costs significantly more. I've read good things about the Beverly Garland that's nearby, but I'm kinda leaning toward staying at the park; We (my munchkin and I) didn't go anywhere this summer, so this will be our "big trip" of the year - even though it's only for 3 or 4 days. I've already decided to splurge (invest) in the VIP tickets for HHN, and have reserved a 2013 Mustang for our rental, so staying at the Sheraton would be a nice compliment to the experience.. YOLO, right? XD

  6. Ok, I'm starting to plan my trip to HHN for the weekend of Sept. 28th and need the scoop on the onsite hotel and ones closest by. Can anyone offer some insight on the:

    • Universal Hilton
    • Universal Sheraton
    • Beverly Garland
    • Any other nearby nice hotel that's your favorite

I usually Priceline bid for 4-stars when I travel, but when I did that last year for HHN, we ended up at the Glendale Hilton. Nice hotel, but NOTHING nearby.

    Plz advise! Thx!

  7. So, I'm starting to plan my annual pilgrimage to Holywood (bad puns, I know. lol), and thought it would be a good time to start the meet-up thread. As it stands now, I'm looking at Sat., Sept. 28th (which happens to be mai birfday too!).

  9. Anywho who cares about the rest my opinion no need to start the Civil War again. And for as far as James Wan goes the Conjuring is one movie which he didn't make the story out of creativity he used the Warrens Case Files and things the family told him. Aside from the first Saw and the Conjuring his movies suck. Anyways that was the last post on this by me dad Lol jk. Anti Insidious meeting in Grind's basement!

Well we already know what's coming today and based on your construction pics Freak without a doubt it's being constructed in JP. So anyway we will all have fun in here and hopefully it scares the living crap out of me!

  10. Hey guys, found some stuff that could really aid with speculation and whatnot. First, info on SS28;

    Specs:

    Area (Sq Ft) 13,916

    Length 142 ft
    Width 98 ft
    Height 43 ft 11 inches
And has a pit/ tank in the center that is 54' x 25'
The same website also has info on the backlot sets, including New York . And... has maps. And.... offers virtual tours! :D
Here's a shot of the virtual tour for the New York set. The point of view is from #10 on the smaller inset map.
    BRMcrLECYAEYW8n.png
When using the virtual tour you can see that there are large doorways in the facade to access our possible construction sites from streets on the other side (example in pic above).

  11. The more I google up on Del Toro, the stronger the case that he is the collaborator on Pumpkin. He and Murdy appear to be kindred spirits, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that they are now very close friends.

They both have a deep love and reverence for the Universal classic monsters, Frankenstein in particular. - In fact, Del Toro is set to start a remake of Frankenstein very soon (if not started already)

They both are MAJOR collectors of horror paraphernalia and oddities - Del Toro has a 2nd mansion for his "man cave", and it is crammed full of the stuff!

    Here's a tour: http://youtu.be/r0WXqEl846k
