  1. I went on "Bloody Waters" or whatever they called it in 2000. It was pretty lame. I'd rather have those scareactors utilized somewhere else in the park. The walk through of Kongfrontation was kind of cool though. They had Kong going along with a ton of scareactors as you walked through. I remember them popping out of trash cans and everything.

  2. I hate the 3D houses! I end up just taking the paper glasses off anyway. It's not like there is really that much to see in 3D. As for an Alone type house, as much as it pains me to say this, I don't see Universal doing it. I don't know how they would effectively pull it off with the amount of guests they have in the park. I remember being at HOS last year and people complaining about not being able to go through that house. Universal has a greater number of guests, a lot of which are drunk morons! I think it would be too much trouble for Universal to put themselves through. I doubt it would bring attendance up that much and with the limited amount of guests that can actually go through the house in a night, I don't think they would end up making enough money from it to deal with the inevitable issues that will come of it.

Just my opinion, however. I really hope I am wrong.

  3. I am leaning that way too. I just don't really like the idea of having to pay more to go through 1 house. Don't get me wrong I would do it for sure I just think my expectations would be so hight that no matter what happened I would feel let down.

That's exactly how I felt about Alone.

I just want an Arrival type show.... They are entertaining and I enjoy them. But it wont happen

    Definitely agree with that!!!!!

  4. Well, I've been a few times now, and thought that I'd give every house a fair treatment before giving my review of the event.

First of all, I had a great time every night I've been. I think this year's event is good, but a little disappointing. I, unlike a lot of you, love the character FEAR. I wish he was used more in the event. I would have liked to see him showcased in a house somewhere. The scarezones are very well themed, and the best I've seen in years. I miss the longer scarezones, however. I also wish there was something towards the back of park where Jaws is located. I am not going to go into specifics for the scarezones, but I will for the houses starting with my least favorites first.

    The Orfanage

Sorry... Just don't like this house all that much. The atmosphere is good, but I don't find it to be scary at all.

    The Hallow'd Past

This house has a great opening. I love spotting stuff from years past. The thing I dislike is the choice in houses to showcase the last 20 years. Dead Exposure and Shrieks and Foons should not be in this house. The use of Body Collectors and Scary Tales is awesome, but aside from those two rooms, it's rather boring. The conclusion to the house was a huge letdown.

    Psychoscareapy

Good house but more of the same that we've already seen before. Great set, good effects, decent scares.

    Legendary Truth

Love the house, hate the masks! I had high expectations from this house as one of my best friends is in it and hyped it up to me BIG TIME. I thought the house was great, but not really that scary.

    Zombiegeddon

LOVED this house! I like the comical beginning and then the sudden turn to intense!!! Great scares in this house. Fast paced and awesome!!!

    Havoc

REALLY impressed by this house. I didn't really have high expectations for this one and boy was I wrong. I love the intensity the scareactors showcase. I love the energy and the fast pace of this house. This is very close to being my favorite.

    Catacombs

The plague doctors are awesome! This house is great. I love that we finally have two really good tent houses this year.

    Hades

By far, the scariest this year. The minotaur in this house is AWESOME!!! Medusa got me every time. Really well done. Don't really understand some of the hate for this house.

Overall, a very good year. I found enjoyment out of every house. My biggest concern is the endings of the houses though. I thought the endings to the majority of the houses were rather boring. What happened to the epic endings? The climax should be the scariest part! My opinion anyway...

  5. This has probably been the hardest ranking list I've ever done.

If I HAD to choose I think it might go something like this:

    1. Legendary Truth - The facade looks amazing, something tells me the "new technology" is going to be implemented in here.

    2. PsychoScarapy - Back to horror based PS instead of humorous

    3. ZombieGeddon - Biased towards Zombie (Really hoping it's not full blown humor house)

    4. Horror Nights : Hallow'd Past - Enough said + Eddie

    5. Orfanage - The theme / setting is pretty cool

    6. Catacombs - The costumes made it go from #7 to #6 but from what I hear, it's better than what some people may think, so keeping my fingers crossed

    7. Havoc - I just like the Gas Masks , never have been too thrilled with the military type houses

    8. Hades - Never really have been into the whole mythological creature thing

It seems on a daily basis however I'm switching the top 5 around in different places though :(

    Don't expect to know ANYTHING!

  6. Well, every time I listen to the voices in my head it always leads to great fun, so I say GO FOR IT!!!! and when your done, don't go to the hospital...it's for wussies.

I agree, remove the finger, but then add it to one of the houses as a prop. Zombiegeddon may be a good fit for a severed finger. I also agree with hospitals being for "wussies." Just wrap some duct tape around the wound and you'll be fine.

  7. Tweaking mine a bit too after a little chat I had today...

    1. Legendary Truth (This house sounds AMAZING!)

    2. Catacombs (Excited to meet the "character" we ALL know, but have never seen at HHN before.)

    3. Hades

    4. Hallow'd Past (Fear it!)

    5. Zombiegeddon (This ain't no funhouse!)

    6. The Orfanage (This house will be HOT)

    7. PsychoScareapy (This one could be higher up on the list if the list wasn't so damn awesome! Should be "fun" though.)

    8. Havoc (High hopes if this is pulled off the way I hope it is.)

  8. 1. Hades (I have a feeling this one is going to be insanely scary!)

    2. The Hallow'd Past (Should be great!)

    3. Catacombs (Catacombs are scary by themselves.)

    4. Legendary Truth (Mostly HOPING this one is good.)

    5. PsychoScareapy (Love the others.)

    6. Zombiegeddon (Should be fun.)

    7. Orfanage (Don't find Cindy scary... AT ALL!!!)

    8. Havoc (Eh...)

  9. There shouldn't be any safe zones at all, IMO. I realize it may be cost prohibitive to extend scarezones to encompass the entire park, but scareactors should be able to follow you everywhere...even the bathroom, if they're froggy enough. I really mean that.

How about just having the lights flicker in the bathroom, then go completely out for a second or two while FEAR's voice plays through speakers?

  10. Actually they did not say there would be new Psychscareapy and Body Collectors houses, but that they were hoping to discover what new house franchises would be the next Psychoscareapy or Body Collectors, i.e. the new next successful house franchises in the coming years.

I have reason to believe that the Caretaker may appear in the queue video for this house.

Has the Jaws queue ever had a queue video before?

EDIT: I personally do not remember one ever being there. It seems like it would be difficult to pull off. Where would they show the video at and how could you hear it over Bill and Ted?

  11. I want a house of thousand corpses on this coast that sucks

Yeah, I'd like to go through House of 1000 Corpses too. Especially since Rob Zombie is designing the maze! But, I'm kind of excited that there aren't going to be any movie houses this year. I love what Universal can create on their own.

  12. Screamscape:

"I’ve been sent a great rumor for HHN 20, which involves one of the large Soundstage haunts under construction. From what I’m told there may be one extra special haunt this season… a huge one… possibly the biggest Haunt ever built at HHN. Inside it would be a trip back through the year’s of HHN’s past, with sections dedicated to each of the previous years and the Icons that ruled the event that year where applicable."

Probably what we've already been speculating about in the parade building.

EDIT: Maybe not the parade building seeing as though it says "soundstage haunts".

  13. Some further thoughts on the apparent code name "Hockey" for a scareactor in the SS 22 house:

Hockey in addition to Jason Voorhees and the aforementioned Miroslav Satan, brings to mind the common euphemism for the word "Hell" - H, E, double hockey-sticks. Perhaps a hellish character is implied?

Or perhaps the clue is a reference to a hockey puck?

Puck aka Robin Goodfellow, most well known from Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, is an ancient woodland prankster spirit of British mythology. He can be a lighthearted trickster, but also can be a terrifying creature.

He is often portrayed as a sort of Pan or Satyr like spirit.

But he has also been shown as a Wild Man of the Woods.

    I LOVE that idea!
