I was offered tickets to that screening (they were giving them away at Monsterpalooza) but couldn't go. What did you think of it Kwy?
It was great actually. A major step up from the original.
-
I saw the actual movie last night. They were having a free screening for reviews and what not. The movie was not 100 percent finished but for the most part was complete. There are a lot of scenes in the movie that just scream hhn. There is one part that I didn't see in the trailer but is in the movie that fits perfectly in a maze.
Were you at the screening in Chatsworth on Wednesday? I was there too.

It's as if almost there's more to a film/book/tv show than it's setting.
-
I do admit it fits the least. But still it can fit in with an "American" theme without too much puzzle piece forcing.
-
I almost wonder if this year could potentially lend itself to sort of a backwards patriotic theme. All the major rumored properties (AHS, AAWIL, Purge, Exorcist) All really lend themselves to a demented US kind of idea.

I hope we don't get TWD again for a few reasons. Aside from it being played out and over done it's really preventing us from getting other properties. Resident Evil immediately comes screaming to mind. Not to mention the whole AHS issue. Murdy likes to call out the ratings for the reasons for not including it, but it still brings in huge ratings for cable. His reasoning is pretty much the same as hypothetically not doing Insidious because it didn't bring in Conjuring cash.

I could see a scarezone more themed to the sequel and a maze themed to the first, since both are supposed to be set on the same purge night.
-
I just got back from seeing The Marked Ones. There's a lot of maze potential in this one, there's almost none of the franchise usual "door moving" type scares. There's even a few scenes that almost seem like straight up maze fodder.

Kreeg's house maybe for the facade?

you kind of have to have the LaLaurie stuff, can't be a coven maze without the Minotaur. I agree with those scenes. I'd also throw in the alligator scene and the voodoo ritual even though it didn't really happen lol.
I could see the Minotaur. But just since LaLaurie was a real person and all the really messed up racial/slavery baggage that comes with her even without her actually having committed those crimes. I could see like Bloodyface flying because he's Ed Gein inspired, just like Leatherface. But if Murder House was in the maze, I doubt the Black Daliah would be featured.

If we do get AHS I wonder if it will be based on Coven or a mix of the three. Coven might be a bit difficult since I'm sure Murdy wont touch any of the LaLaurie stuff in there. Otherwise the zombies will make a great scene. Madison popping out of the box in Saulding's doll room... hmmmmmm.

My personal hopes are
Scream
Trick R Treat maze and tram
American Horror Story
Cabin in the Woods
The Shining

I'll be there tomorrow too, Grind. Going with the boyfriend and my friend from college I haven't seen in some time and her boyfriend.

I mean I loved Insidous and Evil Dead but just in retrospect I'm feeling very eh about HHN and Murdy's celebrity chasing nonsense. I really had a better time at Knots Scary Farm and found it an overall stronger event. The Knotts missteps seemed way less glaring to me. In any case I'm still going to closing night of HHN.

Umm, how is this HHN 2013 discussion? o.o
Because I'm comparing it to the lackluster HHN 2013, pumpkin =]

I'm back in the Knott's takes the crown back camp. I went this past sunday and just all around had a better time. Trapped was over priced and underwhelming but still I think just the overall event was stronger. Forevermore, Black Magic and the returning Trick or Treat were just miles above all the HHN offerings on their own. I would really love if Knotts would start persuing IP mazes again, especially if they go after ones Murdy has snubbed in the past. Imagine if we get AHS and or Scream at Haunt in coming years? I'd die.

Phew. Hopefully we wont get a Cucuy repeat. Hopefully no repeats at ALL next year. But at least it shouldn't be Cucuy.
-
I think I'm going one or the other, if not both. I'm hoping crowds will have died down a smidge.

Some people have nothing better to do than be outraged over something. Either for their own minority (Gay, black, hispanic....) Or white knighting for all the poor downtrodden minorities. In any case people need to just sack up and thicker skin. I'm a gay man and I didn't find it offensive. Given I didn't find much of it terribly clever (I did like the Les Miserables joke I saw opening weekend that sadly got cut). These so called bloggers have no identity of their own so they latch on to their (sexuality in this case) as the only thing that definies them. I've mentioned before that I'm gay but personally that is such a small part of my persona. Even posting here with you lot has more to do with me as a person than the fact my significiant other is a dude.
Can't we just all get along and watch the silly jokes and the fabulous dance sequences? (i'll miss you Macklemore guy with the jacked up teeth)

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

I posted in the General Discussion thread but I feel like elaborating a bit further.
I'm gay and it didn't bother me at all. I mean I didn't think it was exactly great or clever writing. But I certainly wasn't offended by it.

I'm gay and it didn't bother me? *shrug*?

I've long got the impression that Murdy was way more interested in courting celebs than delivering a good event and growing it.
-
So I'm honestly wondering what if anything will be repeated next year. If Insidious 3 gets rushed into production I suppose maybe that's possible. Or if we get three straight years of The Walking Dead which would be tragic. Since El Cucuy was hardly as well received as La Llorona was it just has me curious.

If we continue with The Purge as the front scarezone there's a great character in the sequel who would be a great barker.
