    That's on me.

    Ah, I see.
And the return of Blumhouse? When/ how did we discover that?

btw, 'Halloween 4' has some potential. I recall it being a decent enough sequel, but I don't think they should do another one after that, as the sequels' quality plummeted in a hurry after that.
Also, are the Scarezones' locations all official (Other than the obvious ones like "The Harvest" and "Twisted Tradition")? Because it looks like there'll be a LOT of unused space, I hope they have plenty of Roaming Hordes. Also, it looks a little wasteful to have "Killer Klowns" be in such a small area. I'd have put "Chucky" in the San Francisco area, "Vamp '85" where "Chucky" is (That was where "Vamp '55" was, after all), and "Killer Klowns" where "Vamp" is.

  2. Oh, and one more thing to add:
As if I didn't already have enough reasons to be totally jazzed for this House, the icing on the cake is that it's going to be held in the Parade Building!
Many past Houses I've really loved have been located there (i.e. 'Scary Tales: Once Upon a Nightmare,' 'Silver Screams,' 'Horror Nights: The Hallow'd Past,' the imo super- underrated 'Roanoke: Cannibal Colony,' 'Halloween: Hell Comes to Haddonfield,' 'Ash vs. the Evil Dead').
I'd say having the 'T 'r T' House located there increases the likelihood that it'll be a slam- dunk!

  3. I cannot freaking tell you how excited I am that they are at long last making a 'Trick 'r Treat' House!
I have loved that film for so many years! Last October, I carved a jack o lantern for the first time since I was a kid, and carved it to look like Sam!
Last HHN, I made a point of taking a selfie with Sam the very first evening!
And, yet, right from when I first saw the movie in 2009, I've maintained that it NEEDS to be made into a House, and now it finally is!
The successful Scarezone last year proved they can do good things with the material and the characters, but a House is needed in order to incorporate one of the best parts of the movie:
    The environments.
The movie had so many great, diverse, creepy environments that would work perfectly for a House. Think of the neighborhood streets, the parade/ party, Mr. Wilkins's backyard and basement, the woods' path and clearing, and ESPECIALLY the quarry and Mr. Kreeg's house. Those environments are practically tailor- made for a House.
Easily my most anticipated House for this year.

That sounds like a fantastic idea for a house, but the one key factor that's missing is what drives him over the edge or why he wanted the job to begin with.

For instance, you say that the man is mentally unhinged to begin with, which leads to a lot of options. He could believe that he himself is the character kind of like with HR Bloodengutz or he actually hates children and took the job to psychologically or physically scar them and his breaking point, again like Bloodengutz, is his termination, so he wreaks havoc through the station in a fit of rage even crossing over to the other studios/sets (Which could lead to a hilarious queue video where he hijacks different fictitious shows). Or you could have him try to create a cult of personality with the character and try to brainwash kids into a personal army who want to fulfill his bloodlust.

Also I would imagine this is set perhaps in a time where kids TV was popular since kids today seem more glued to their tablets instead of the TV. Maybe set this in the mid 90s when Barney and other such shows were in their fever pitch and set the mood for the house.

You got a solid base for a comedy house, just needs a bit of fine tuning.

    Thanks for your input!
Yeah, he could use a motive. I think the idea that, like Bloodengutz, he had just been fired and that set him over the edge, could work.
As for your idea of him even going through the other studios/ sets, I was actually just thinking that idea myself! For instance, there could be rooms with him rampaging through the sets of things like a morning talk show, a cooking show (Perhaps we at one point see a severed head in a cooking pot), and a 'Friends'- esque sticom!

  5. Here were my thoughts on opening night...
Things admittedly started on a VERY frustrating note for me. The people they had running the lines that night were SO freaking incompetent! I was in line for the "Will Call" kiosk and close to reaching the kiosks in question, when out of nowhere, the aforementioned buffoons in charge of the lines randomly took me and about fifteen others out of that line, and with no explanation, had us just stand in a separate section of the main ticket area. This wouldn't have been quite as bad if we were actually part of the line then, BUT NOOOOOOO! They had us just standing in a separate area, watching more people come into the main ticket line, while the three stooges running the line seemed to be talking amongst themselves as to how a line is supposed to work. After several minutes of this, they FINALLY let us into the main ticket line. The end result was, while I normally would have almost certainly been through the line and into the park by 6:45, I ended up not being able to get into the park before about 7:15, and was NOT happy about it.
Fortunately, though, almost immediately after entering the park, my bad mood dissipated and I got happier and giddier with each step I took! It's just the wonderful effect Halloween Horror Nights has on me! By the time I went home a little after midnight, I had broken my record for most Houses hit in one night (Express Pass? I don't need no stinkin' Express Pass!), and so that record now stands at six!
    So, on to the Houses:
Saw: I came across it almost right away and, while I am not a fan of the film series, I figured it would be a good first House this year. It was. I found it alright, pretty intense as just a House, the trap depictions were good, though I wished they didn't rely on pig- masked guys so often. Good way to get me a little more hyped up for the rest of the event, so by the time I reached my second House, I was singing to myself!

Scarecrows: Mixed bag. On the one hand, as just a House going through it for myself, it was great! It was terrifying (I've never in my life seen scarier scarecrows in ANY media), well- decorated and immersive, I lost count of how many times I screamed in this maze. However, one thing tainted it just a little; In addition to obviously experiencing it for myself, I was also in a sense scouting it out for my girlfriend, who will likely be coming to HHN later in the event. She was very excited for this particular House, but a problem is that she has night- blindness (i.e. in 'Tomb of the Ancients' last year, it was so dark that she literally could barely see a thing the entire House), so I went through the House to see if there would be enough lighting for her to enjoy it when she comes. I don't think there is, it's a little too dark, especially considering the way it goes pitch- black at one point near the end. Still, I liked it well enough myself.

BlumHouse: AWESOME! It was better than I thought it would be. It felt so immersive, like I really was in each of those films. It was also a House of well- done contrasts: For most of the House, the movies are clearly separated, with you being able to see the writing that indicates what film you're about to enter. In the end, though, it seems like they blend together, with the final room having baddies from all those films attacking you at once, and it works out great!

The Fallen: On the one hand, it was a scary House. The demons looked great, and there were some good scares throughout it. Plus, of course, the "Flying" parts were incredible! The only thing was, there didn't seem to be much of a story to it: You're going through I guess a cathedral, and demons are attacking you. That's it. Still, nice enough House.

The Shining: LOVED IT! Right away, when entering the hedge maze and hearing the magnificent opening- credits music, I knew it was going to be great, and so it was! So many classic scenes handled perfectly (Especially the scenes with the twins and the "Elevator doors" scene that had me so curious how they'd do it), and so many characters included. It truly felt like stumbling through the Overlook Hotel! Also, my g/f will be happy to know that, other than the Hall of Mirrors part, the lighting was good too. Literally the only thing I'd have done differently was that I might have liked if there was a segment showing Halloran's death (Since it's clearly based around the movie, rather than the book in which Halloran survives). His death scene was so sudden/ surprising and so brutal it left a big impact and would have been perfect for a section of the House. Other than that, though, absolute gold!

Dead Waters: Another amazing House! Even just the opening with us making our way through the swamp to get to the riverboat, everything was so beautiful and detailed. The interior was great, too! The characters looked great, the environments looked amazing and so immersive, just a great House in every sense!

The SZ's were really good, too. The only minor issue was that with many of them, the Scareactors weren't very active in scaring people that I saw (Other than the "Roaming Hordes" clowns).
"Invasion,' though, looked great, 'Purge' had a lot going for it, and as a 'Trick 'r Treat' fan, I of course loved that Zone as much as I thought I would!
My favorite Scareactor interaction was in the 'Trick 'r Treat' zone; I was checking out and taking a picture of the "Scarecrow" with Emma's head on it, when the "Battle- Damaged" Sam walked up to it and started excitedly pointing to it! I said with a smile, "Admiring your handiwork, Sam?", and he vigorously nodded! I thought that was so cute/ funny, and in character for Sam!
So, an awesome opening night. I can't wait to go back!

If anybody would like to meet up tonight, let me know. I'll be with a couple of other non-forum friends and we'll be doing as many houses and shows as we can. I'd really like to do B&T at some point. I will also likely be drinking because 1) it's the first night of HHN and 2) this work week has been hell because of the hurricane and I feel like I need something to drink.

I'll be wearing my Metalface Villain MF DOOM hat and an event shirt from 2002, so give a shout if you see me.

Hope everyone has a good night! Stay safe out there

I'd be down for meeting up with some people and hitting houses as a group. I'm a tall man with brown hair, I'll be wearing a 2014 event shirt ("Fear will eat you alive"), and a blue hat that says "Millennium Force" on it.

  7. This house looks amazing. I've always liked the idea of creepy living scarecrows, and this looks like it adds an interesting twist to it.
My only hope is that the lighting for it is at least decent.
    Explanation:
My girlfriend is planning to come with me to a night of HHN, and is excited about the description of this House.
Problem is, she has problems with night- blindness. Last year, one of the Houses we hit together was Tomb of the Ancients, and that House was so dark she could hardly see a thing.
So, I hope this House has at least okay lighting for her sake.

  8. I broke into my happy- dance at the announcement!
I love that movie, it's a Halloween viewing tradition for me, and I have long said that it would make a great addition to HHN. I personally think it would work better as a House than as a SZ, but I'll take what I can get.
I'm getting my picture taken with Sam my very first night!

    ........Christmas?........¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As a Christian, I like 'em both and celebrate the heck out of 'em both!
I view the Halloween season (Including Horror Nights, of course) as being like taking a safe yet fun wander through the darkness, and the Thanksgiving/ Christmas season as like returning to the light.

  10. Ah, Scarezones, Scarezones, Scarezones!
'Festival of the Deadliest' sounds creepy, but a bit too vague for me to know what to expect.
Upon learning of the 'Trick 'r Treat' scarezone, I got up and did my happy- dance in the middle of my apartment! That movie's a Halloween tradition for me, I've been waiting so long for them to make it part of HHN, and now I have the chance! I'm definitely getting my picture taken with Sam the very first night! Hopefully we'll see zombie kids and werewolves, too!

I've never been much of a 'Purge' fan, but as I said earlier, one of the Scareactors in that zone is a member of my church young adults group, so I'll give it a shot. Also, 'Election Year' was alright, hopefully Kimmy (Or, as I nicknamed her, "Psycho Candy- Bar Girl") from that movie will make an appearance in the Zone. She was a fun villain, I actually liked her better than the main villains of that film.
'Altars of Horror' sounds like a great idea! My girlfriend has said that she prefers Scarezones over Houses partly because we're allowed to take pictures in Scarezones and take our time in going through them (It's also part of why I was glad that in 2014, Faceoff was a Scarezone rather than the House they got in Hollywood, because that meant I was able to get my picture taken with the Axe- Girlfriend), so a Scarezone devoted to main characters from this year's Houses sounds like something that she and a lot of other people can really get behind.

'Invasion!' sounds hella- cool! It sounds like it'll make a good "Scary/ funny" zone, and S.F. is the perfect location for it! I wonder how they'll make the aliens look?
As for the 'Roaming Hordes' idea, while clowns are a bit overdone, I like that the description seems to specifically imply that they'll be undead clowns. That'll add a new dimension to things.
So, all in all, sounds like a good crop of Scarezones for this year!

I can't even begin to put into words how happy & excited I will be if/when TrT is announced. If I could make a list of the top 5 dream IP's I'd love to see at HHN, TrT would absolutely be on it! Such a good Halloween movie.

I'm so curious to see how they're gonna make it work too. The Central Park area felt slightly more confined to me last year, as opposed to the other scare zones, I'm wondering if they're gonna have all the characters from the movie out at the same time or if they'll do cast changes with different characters at different times.

However it's done, I know that'll be the SZ I spend the most time in this year!

I feel the exact same way!
I think 'TrT' would work better as a House than as a SZ, but I'll take whatever I can get!
I also like the idea someone suggested of a place to buy "Fall"- themed foods like cider, apple fritters, and pumpkin- spice everything!

    Exactly.

    The other rules include.

    -always wear a costume

    -always pass out treats

    -always check your candy

And NEVER blow out a Jack O Lantern before midnight

Don't forget the rule about never going out alone. That rule was at the core of Laurie's story.

Someone on IU said that B&T might be closing because political jokes would be unwelcome at a time when the country is so divided. See, that's EXACTLY why we need political satire in the first place! But I digress, since the most recent variation of the rumor is that HHN would be affected.

They could always just sidestep around that by having the show not touch on political topics and instead focus on the pop- cultural jokes and parodies that usually make up the majority of their shows.

  14. I heard rumors somewhere (I can't remember where, though) that T2 was on its way out. It's a fun show, but rather outdated. Plus, its location will make it easy to close down and convert to something else without inhibiting walking along that street or anything. I will miss the Sci- Fi Store connected to it, though, I bought some great comics there.

I doubt the Mummy will be going. It remains an extremely popular ride (My best friend considers it one of the best in the whole resort if not THE best), and even just closing it temporarily will make people really upset and possibly bring attendance down.
MIB I'd call a maybe. While not as popular as Mummy by a long shot, it is still a pretty well- liked and well- attended ride with almost that entire corner of the park styled around it.
ET probably isn't going anywhere because of contract issues with Spielberg (In the past when the ride was rumored to be closing at UO, Spielberg was quite angry and threatened to cut all cooperation with Universal), the fact that it's I believe the last remaining ride which had been in Universal since the beginning, and the fact that it was just refurbished.

  15. At church yesterday, I learned that one of the other members of my young- adults group is going to be a Scareactor this year!
He said he would be working in the Scarezone located in New York. I of course didn't press him for information, but did learn a couple things:
    1) Apparently, the cast members are being kept almost as much in the dark about the Houses as we are! The only Houses he apparently knew of for sure were the three announced ones, he seemed genuinely curious about what I told him the speculation was for the other Houses.
    2)  He confirmed that one of the Houses was indeed named/ nicknamed "Hive."

With no announcement today, I think we can confirm that The Conjuring had indeed been purged.

I know we all assumed as much, but today would have been the drop dead date with the release of (the apparently very good) Annabelle: Creation.

Yeah, it actually was very good.
One thing it particularly impressed me with was the way it handled one of my main criticisms learning in advance of the movie: I didn't think another prequel was necessary, that the previous film showed the doll's demonic origins pretty completely (I'd have said if another 'Annabelle' movie was made, it should be a sequel about another owner it had before ending up with the young nurses). Yet, by 'Creation''s end, they pulled off a truly brilliant and unexpected connection to the previous film that did indeed help to better show how things all got started, and even threw in a clever nod to the actual Annabelle doll.
Plus, it opened with an amazing new preview for 'It' which helped to further assure me that Bill Skarsgaard will make a magnificent Pennywise.

Hell, I think that announcement was largely a dud, too. I don't remember people being excited like other IPs in other years.

    I was excited by it!
I love the movie, and the various environments to the Overlook (The bedrooms, the long hallways, the ballroom, the kitchen, and definitely the hedge maze) would be perfect for a House!

Agreed but the fact Murdy deleted I think means he probably just didn't look at the photo properly.

We don't need to stretch to see other reasons why Orlando's Marketing is bad.

Maybe, or it might be that, similar to the advance "Shining" announcement, the slugs in Marketing thought he might be revealing too much too soon.

I'd be more excited to see a Jumanji house lol.

    LOL!
I remember the man- eating plant thing from that movie ("It grows much faster than bamboo...") scared me bad when I was a kid, but as an adult, I don't find it anywhere near as threatening.

Anyone else think it's ironic that DISNEY owns theme park rights to Alien? They tried venturing into the world of scary attractions with Alien Encounter, where they had the opportunity to utilize the Xenomorph but failed to do so. Just drop it and let someone else get a crack at it.

Speaking of aliens, why have we not had a Sci-Fi outer space type year? The literal universe offers so much room for creativity and the scary, lonely feeling of being trapped in space. Interstellar Terror was a blast and I would prefer to see more of that.

Good call. It calls to mind part of Peter Vincent's monologue near the end of the original 'Fright Night.'
"Tonight, the threat comes not from beyond the grave, but from beyond the stars."

I hope not, it would completely ruin the mood. I hate it. Normally i like to think I'm a pretty positive person, but when it comes to Race Through New York I'm worse than Critical. Extra bathroom space would have been better then that ride.

I've never been on it. Is it worse than the 'Twister' experience (Which I always considered the single worst attraction in the entire resort until it closed down)?
