  1. So which side of the Evil Dead table are you both? Do you think it's Ash vs Evil Dead, or Evil Dead 1 and 2 material? Also, which would you prefer? Ridiculous... They actually admitted something like that? That's too much.
  2. Well they should be at least a little worried... One unhappy rabid fan can spread just as much bad word of mouth as they can spread good word of mouth. They're not getting the job done this year plain and simple. Anyone with eyes and a brain would agree.
  3. If it is correct, then it's even more ridiculous in my opinion. If they know they can't keep their information secret then why not just announce the stuff officially? I just don't see the actual harm in announcing stuff weekly or biweekly going up to the event. This announce mostly everything in August is just awful. I don't think I've seen a marketing campaign rest on its laurels quite as much as Universal has done this HHN run.
  4. So you think I'm being spoiled by knowing a bit in advance what I'm spending thousands of dollars on? The whole "they used to announce everything in August and it was so awesome" argument is getting pretty tiresome to me. If they want my money next year, they'll need to start announcing stuff earlier than they are this year. I'm not booking a whole trip from across the country to not know what I'll be seeing. I also don't think it's too cool for them to keep saying soon, soon, and then give us nothing for months. That to me is a total turn off this year.
  5. If anyone is drinking kool-aid, it's you man. Who was bitching about getting info? People are aggravated even with the announcement timer because it's not until roughly only 1 month before the event and by then it doesn't leave much time to discuss or watch the material. So apparently you think repeats are cool? Having the Purge back in NY again after only a couple years is awesome. The same thing with Evil Dead. I can't wait to hear the comments when 2/3 of the house is a replica of what we had a few years back. Who wouldn't prefer another house over that VR crap that they overcharged for last year. Did literally anyone enjoy that flop? Yeah... a countdown clock SLOWLY releasing material. How slow? How does it even work? So far, it seems like a pointless counter that leads to nothing. I'm not sure if this year is going to suck, but the leadup has been the worst I've seen since I started attending. I'm sorry that I have to book my trips in advance. Like I said earlier, next year if they don't get their crap together I won't go. People should be allowed to share their opinions, good and bad without people like yourself chiming in bitching. To be honest, I find it rather rude.
  6. It's true... almost everything has been done or seen at this point. It's very difficult to have an honest to goodness out of the box original. My complaint isn't necessarily that they're bringing back Evil Dead, but more because they just did it a few years ago (and the whole Ash vs Evil dead being Evil Dead 1 and 2 somehow). Some may complain that Saw is coming back because of various reasons too. I never saw the one back in 2009. Is 8 years enough of a gap to bring a house back? I guess it depends on how you feel about repeats and possibly how old you are in general. I can understand that if what people witnessed from back then wasn't too impressive then they wouldn't want it back in any fashion. At least it's probably somewhat safe to assume that it will be based off the new film, which means new material. However, I do like to watch the movies/tv shows being used before the event so it kinda sucks that I won't be able to do so with the new Saw.
  7. Supposedly they're calling it Ash vs Evil Dead, but are only using material from the original Evil Dead 1 and 2. If it's actually material from Ash vs Evil Dead I'd be much happier for multiple reasons.
  8. And how well does tone translate to recreating material for a house? The tone of the 2nd Evil Dead was much different. I'll give you that. It was more comical than the 1st one, but how much material will be used from the 2nd movie when they already have most of what they need to fill a house using the 1st film?
  9. Everything is different??? An evil book, an incantation, attacking vines, demonic possession, an inability to escape the cabin in the woods. If you take out the subplot about her being an addict and a few things here and there, the movies (Evil Dead 1) are basically the same. There is a reason why they called the 2013 version Evil Dead. It's a damn reboot. We'll see just how different the house will be come this September. I'll wager any amount of money you want that they'll be a book, an incantation, and someone popping their head out of a basement.
  10. So we're getting a repeat house with Evil Dead and now most likely a repeat scare zone in the exact same location with the Purge? Besides that, they won't announce anything and the event is only 2 months away. My hype meter is hitting critically low levels.
  11. I'm pretty sure this game came with my first Atari 2600. I'd say that gaming technology has come a ways since then. I guess I'm a Xennial.
  12. We haven't seen Ash vs Evil Dead which is why them using the original Evil Dead 1 and 2 and calling it that is total bs. They're calling it that because they know it will be pretty damn close to an exact repeat as something they did just a few years back and no one wants to see a repeat (assuming the intel is correct). This logic is a slap in the face to those who attended the event in 2013 and to the real fans of HHN. I don't care how they or any of you on here want to spin it, it's going to be a repeat. Other than a few scenes and different actors the original and remake just wasn't that different. Oh wow... the laughing deer in part 2 and some dead hanging cats in the reboot. Big whoop dee doo! REPEAT!!! As far as this soul collecting business goes, wouldn't it be a good idea for them to at least have set soul collecting goals so that the fans will be motivated to get more to sign on. For instance, release a new house info for lets say 50k souls etc. As it looks now we're going to be waiting until August before we get diddly and that's lame. What the hell is Conjuring with vamps? The Conjuring house that was already being built (but fell through) filled with some type of vampires. The spec was getting so silly, I was ready for them to be killer clown vamps from outer space at one point.
  13. No kidding.... the more jack o lanterns, the better. It is Halloween Horror Nights after all.
  14. If this marketing campaign thus far isn't laziness on their part then that's even worse. They may work their asses off to put together a good final product, but can that honestly be said in regards to marketing? If anything, it's been so bad, in my opinion, that I may hold off on buying my tickets next year unless they get their act together.
  15. The 2nd Havoc house was one of the worst houses I've been through at HHN, so they better not bring back that rubbish.
  16. I'm aware that it was based off the reboot. I'm also aware that one of the main differences between them, the seriousness, doesn't really translate directly over when making a house. The surroundings were the same. The theme was the same. Most of the effects were the same. It's the same. The only difference film wise is that the original Evil Dead (which was way better) was made like 36 years ago and it still holds it's own as a horror film. How many people are going to care about the reboot in 36 years from when it was made?
  17. I don't mind if they bring houses back. There are only so many popular enough films to choose from that would get the people going. However, using shady false advertisements to cover up a repeat from only a few years back is just lame in my opinion. They couldn't wait another year or two to bring it back, or better yet, actually use material from the show? If this rumor turns out to be true I guess that will be one house I'll only need to visit a couple times. Examples other than this Evil Dead silliness?
  18. I don't really want to see Evil Dead. They just did it a few years back. Evil Dead 2 takes place in the same location as the 1st one so what extra material would they even add? If they're going to use the name of a tv show, use the damn material from the show. I don't want this to be a bait and switch with the switch being another AWiL situation.
  19. Ash vs Evil Dead being Evil Dead 1 and 2 seems realistic to you? It seems a bit wonky to me.
  20. Who knows the houses? I'm still waiting for the current list to be bogus. Can't a HHN fan hope?
  21. They would need small petite girls to play the role of the twins from The Shining.
  22. This will also be our 8th year flying down to HHN. We've gotten express every year we've visited. After witnessing the lines the 1st year we attended my wife (who loves the event too) proclaimed that we either get express when we visit or she won't go. With that being said, it's definitely worth spending the extra cash to get it. We're relatively old and don't want to spend our time waiting in lines all night. I just don't get how people can visit and do everything without it, especially without doing Stay and Scream. I can't even begin to imagine the number of guests we've basically cut in front of using it multiple nights (all the houses) for all these years. It sure feels good walking by them.
  23. One big difference between the 2 is that Orlando sells alcohol at the event and Hollywood doesn't. Not to sound like an alcoholic (I only drink on occasions) , but I like to have a few drinks while walking around HHN and I think it's foolish of them to not sell alcohol.
  24. The best single haunt I've been to is probably Bennett's Curse. The Headless Horseman in NY was also great. Nightmare New England isn't too shabby either. One thing that is better about haunts in the New England area is that we actually have a fall season. There is something about the leaves turning and the cool crisp air that makes that time of the year especially good for haunts. Depending on how many days you're staying in FL and what your budget is, you could also check out Howl O' Scream at Busch Gardens (Tampa). They put on a decent show and it's not too far from Universal really.
  25. We fly down from south of Boston, MA each year. There are only 2 reasons we started going. 1. A while back my uncle who lives down there told me about it. 2. We try to go to as many Halloween haunts as possible and it had to be done. We've hit literally haunt (big/small) in MA, CT, RI, NH, and even a couple big haunts (MD, NY). Although there are single haunts that are better than HHN houses, I don't think anything matches up to HHN as a whole package deal. Not to mention all the stuff you can do in that area during the day.
