I was actually just thinking about this. I swear I remembered Mike, or one of the creatives, giving an interview a year or two ago where they were asked about AHS ever coming to HHN and they weren't sure. For the life of me I can't find the interview, and it's been driving bat shit crazy all day. But I thought they said something akin to the fact that weren't sure because that if it ever did come to HHN they wouldn't want to cut the content (I.E the violence, sexual nature, or anything.) They loved the property and want to respect it, but they weren't sure guests were ready for that yet/or mention of AHS extreme house.
God... I swear this interview was real. I remember having conversations about it with people. Anybody else remember this, or am I just going mad?

I think you are correct, I believe it happened one year when this was a rumored house but it never came to light. I tried looking for the interview but cannot locate it.

  2. Can you still buy tours after HHN has started? and will the second week of september tours be sold out before a week or so?

You can definitely buy tours after HHN has started. I think the Saturdays will fill up quickest, but I think the September dates might not fill up that quick compared to the October ones. You can always call and see the availability/spots left on the tour for your date.

  3. I've been thinking about this since we first found out we were getting a Freddy vs Jason house. What do you guys think the facade will be?  I'm curious to hear what you guys are imagining.

I'm not sure what they could do as a shared facade to represent both, so I think it'll be whoever starts the house. I am not sure how they will transition from Freddy to Jason or vice versa. Outdoor scene?

  4. See, my problem with not knowing yet is I want to know which tour has Monsters and Mayhem, because I'm not doing both, and the that's the house I want to see the most. If I don't know which tour has it, I can't book it.

But no they don't? Disaster's express merges right at the entrance, Tent 2 merges before the path that leads into the house, which isn't really the line, more you walking up and into the house. Tent 1 and Parade Building's merge points are a tad further back, but it's still at most 3-5 minutes from there into the house. With the way the entrances into the buildings are, it's really the only way they can make it work.

Would be helpful if they said which houses with on the tour. I emailed them and had no joy getting a straight answer. In 2013 I went and did AWIL and don't really want to get a repeat tour of the house. Plus knowing what was on each tour last time meant I could pick the best three.

I feel the same way. I really want to see the Monsters and Mayhem house because I think that will be the most interesting detail wise to see lights on because of all the HHN history. I also saw AWIL on the tour back in 2013, so as much as I loved that house, I would rather see others on the tour. I wouldn't have booked mine so soon because I would rather know as well, but I was afraid it would fill up. I think dream tour would be FvJ, anniversary house, Body Collectors/Insidious (can't pick, I'd be happy with either).

  5. Does anybody know which houses are included with the morning Unmasking the Horror Tour vs the afternoon one yet?

I know none of the Universal VIP tour people I spoke to knew or would say anything when I booked my UTH tour. I'm not sure if anyone on here knows specific morning vs afternoon yet, but I know the 6 houses that will be options for the tour was vaguely tossed around on the discussion post. I believe it was discussed that TWD, Insidious, FvJ, The Purge, Anniversary House, and Body Collectors were all the most likely to show up on the tour and even maybe AWIL instead of one of those(Wolves!). Nothing is for sure though, we probably won't know until the first UTH tour happens.

  6. There's some sort of preview event going on right now. Have no clue what is it, but here's some tidbits.

    • People at the event are getting a tour of Walking Dead and Insidious.
    • The Purge was the most successful scare zone ever, quote by Laura Wallace. Which explains why they made it a house theme, the whole Scream thing aside.
    • They are reducing safe zones, increasing the size of scarezones
    • The roaming hordes are Chainsaw Gang and Psycho Clowns.
    • Belle and Cinderella (With creative use of her glass slipper) confirmed for ScreamPunk.
    • FvJ Battles will use both live actors and video screens.
    • New AWIL puppets are more actor friendly and should provide an even scarier experience.
    • Expect a "Fan Favorite Killer and his bride" at the Die-In. Sounds like Chucky to me.
    • Expect Live Kills in the Scarezones. They didn't specify whether they just meant Icons or not.
    • RUN has chainsaws (Duh.)

It will be nice if they do reduce the "safe zones"/dead space quite a bit. Does anyone think this might extend to the London walkway or would that be too much cluster?

  7. Morning and afternoon tours always have 3 fixed houses each.  The morning houses are different than the afternoon houses.  Note that they sell morning, afternoon or BOTH.  So clearly they will have a different set of houses between the two tours.

Now, when you were told that things change daily, what she meant was that something COULD happen to change the itinerary.  For example, if maintenance had to be done in a house, it would be removed from the tour that day.  There are any number of things that could require juggling the itinerary.  But historically, people here report House A, B, C in the morning and X, Y, Z in the afternoon quite consistently.

One other thing about the UTH tour.  Because this year is so heavily IP related, sometimes Universal is not allowed to present UTH tour of a certain house.  They almost never allow video in any IP house, and sometimes restrict photos.  This is especially true when a house is related to a movie in release.

So don't assume that because they have 9 houses that they will/can have three unique variations of the UTH tour that they rotate among.  They might, but I think it's unlikely.

Thanks! I've been on the UTH tours the past couple of years and I thought they usually have a fixed set of 3 for each tour and sometimes due to certain things one might get changed around like you mentioned. I remember one year we couldn't go in one tent because of some issue. It was just the way the rep this year worded it made it sound like it was constantly changing daily, but I do agree that the various rotations would be unlikely. She also probably can't say a whole lot anyways, so that was probably her generic answer. I just wanted to compare in the past that it was typically the same pattern for the morning and afternoon tours. Thank you for clearing that up!:)

  8. Has anyone found out which mazes will be for each of the Unmasking the Horror tours? Already booked both on Oct. 3rd but I figure I should find out sooner than later. Lol

When I called yesterday, she said they are changing the rotation of houses each day, so there is no set lineup for each(which they might do every year anyway), but she wouldn't say anything about which houses. :P

  9. I always try and do a UTH tour, but I was wondering do they always rotate morning and afternoon houses on the tour or have they usually stayed mostly the same day to day as far as the same 3 are on the morning tour everyday and the same 3 for the afternoon everyday? I only ask because I went to go book my tour yesterday and I was wondering if she could give me an idea of the houses on each tour now that the full reveal is out, but she said it changes daily.

  10. Anyone want to speculate on when they might release this year's commercial?

I'm thinking September at least. Which is approaching very quickly. If they went to Hungary possibly for the commercial a couple weeks ago , it could be finished soon. I feel like it usually comes out sooner but with only IPs announced first or they were strictly zombies for the years past, so hopefully it has more of a 2007 Carnival of Carnage feel. Which I know was IP/New Line heavy, but at least it featured Jack and three IPs vs the typical TWD-centric commercials we have gotten recently.

  11. Based on Hollywood's Facebook tease, I'm gonna say we are getting a dual announcement for Insidious sometime between now and the end of the week based on Murdy's comment.

I agree.  Based on the comment of whoever runs the Facebook page (not sure if this is the same comment kiwisoup mentioned), sounds like their announcement will be today (with the time difference, I think "in the morning" would be today). I also agree with an Insidious announcement since the only thing left after the letters in the video fade out is "IN". I just wonder if it will feature any of the 3rd movie or will we get something more like Hollywood's last year?

  12. For all of the early birds, they posted the videos of the press conference on their (ScareTOUR's) Facebook

  13. If Gringotts was open that would be a great people eater to alleviate some lines. They can't do anything Halloween Horror Nights based there though correct? Even a little spooky vibe in London would be nice....or dementors. Ahh a girl can dream

  14. I've been lurking and catching up on all of the spec, so I haven't posted in awhile. I'm thinking that whole promotion thing Gale Ann Hurd is doing to fund that movie with the HHN Hollywood reward for so much donation is based on her having a somewhat relationship with Murdy from TWD being present at the event the past few years. It doesn't have to necessarily mean TWD is back, she has a whole slew of TWD and Terminator prizes as well beyond the HHN VIP passes. Maybe I am just hoping that it doesn't mean TWD this year at HHN, but who knows. :P

  15. As far as hotels, I stay at the Doubletree just because of the close proximity to walk to HHN, but there is a Hampton Inn, Motel 6, and the Econolodge that was mentioned above that are all close by and affordable. I always splurge on the express pass because I can do things at my leisure and be able to see everything, instead of rushing because it's hard to know if I'll be able to go more than once each year. You can definitely do a few houses though before you start using the Express Pass, especially if you stay in the park before it opens. I think mid-September will be a great time to visit the parks as well. I'm sure Diagon Alley will be a little crowded still, but it will be definitely better than summer crowd levels. As far as in-park food, The Simpsons Fast Food Alley is pretty tasty and so is Finnegan's. On I-Drive there are tons of restaurants if you plan to eat before. I think you have chosen a pretty great time to go!
