  1. I took the time to watch the old Carnival of Carnage show from 2007 and it just reminded me how much BETTER it is than The Carnage Returns. It's shorter, there are more on-stage kills with much less filler (dancing), the jokes are clever, and Jack and his cronies are better developed and much more entertaining to watch throughout the show.

I hate sounding like a Bitter Betty, but I really hope that if they decide to continue putting on Icon shows, they forget that TCR ever happened.

  2. Mike Aiello will be at the Scareactor Dining Experience answering guest's questions tomorrow and on the 21st.

Should be a great time for anyone attending those two days. They've also added three additional days to the Dining Experience calendar that are open to all guests with an HHN ticket.

Someone ask about those coins. It's driving me crazy. There's no way someone could've hoarded enough of them to place them all over the park every night, right?

  3. I don't like the show. I think the performers are great but the show drags on for way too long, dancing should be kept at Bill and Ted, and the Big Ass Saw that's getting built up throughout the show is really underwhelming.

I do have a question though about one of the "effects"...

Is Chance really throwing those knives?

  4. well there was a flying machete in the movie. They could have attached a machete to a wire and make it go from wall to wall... it could have been done lol.
(Like the way the books moved from wall to wall in dead end)

that's what I was wondering about

    Imaginations will fly.

  5. I personally loved RUN. I had the pleasure of visiting towards the end of the night and being quite literally the only person inside, which allowed me to be targeted exclusively by ALL the scareactors and I was actually able to RUN at multiple times through the house. It was such a great Horror Nights experience; seeing each room for the first time, slowly creeping through and pushing the drapes aside to see an empty hallway (or one with a Roman soldier at the end), no house attendants barking at me to keep it moving. I screamed and laughed and had such a good time.

That goes to show you that experience >>> actual quality of the house. Insidious and FvJ are great and all, but these conga lines really kill the vibe for me. Recently I've just been visiting right at opening, walking right into the houses, experiencing those empty houses, and bailing before the masses arrive.

  6. It feels like the cast this time around isn't quite as strong as we had in 2013. There's also been some removals of scareactors that were in the original incarnation, which doesn't do much for scares.

As a scareactor who is in the current cast, I'd love to know what roles were removed. 90% of our cast consists of first time scareactors.

  7. I don't know what House of the Year you're referring to, but as far as I'm concerned there is an actual house of the year sorted out by Entertainment at the year, just like there's a scareactor of the week and such.

Does anyone know the specific accolades that are given out?

  8. So I get it. Yeah yeah yeah, Walking Dead is back, a bunch of IPs and the return of AWIL. But as far as I'm concerned, AWIL is probably gonna be the first actual repeat/carbon copy of a house from a previous year.

Say what you will about the new found prominence of IPs, but just because there has been a lack of original ideas, we've still been getting a unique Horror Nights experience every single year that was different from the previous one.

  9. On the topic of Jack, I feel like It's a damn shame that they created him in 2000 as the first icon. To start off with the #1 phobia has set the bar really high for other icons to follow. And bringing him back every few years will only put a spotlight on "What will they do to top that?" The closest thing after Jack they used that could inspire true fear in people was Bloody Mary because so many people have had personal experiences with that urban legend. Not many people go to meet film directors, coroners, storytellers, and movie ushers and think this person is definitely dangerous. I'm not saying everyone thought Jack & Bloody Mary were going to kill them, but they are irrational fears and more widespread among people.

But it's bittersweet because without Jack, I'm not sure we'd have all those other icons.

I mean, this is just my personal opinion.

Seeing as how Jack was their first icon, they had to go with something as simple yet effective as people's fear of clowns. They probably had no idea how he'd be received or if it was going to be in their best interest to have another icon year, but with obvious success it let Universal Creative actually get a little more...creative.

  10. That's Scary Movie. Scream isn't that much of a joke. The wuzzuup has nothing to do with the actual Scream movies. And no, you can't be the only one, though it shouldn't be for that reason. I don't think it's gonna feel like a joke house. I am very pumped for it

You're right, the general drunk public isn't going to be shouting 'wuzzuup' all through the house. They clearly care about the distinction between Scary Movie and the Scream series.
