  1. well yeah But what If they want to keep this part for Islands and for people traveling back and forth while HHN is going on? I mean since HHN is a separate event, wouldn't they have to stop the train at 6? or just close the Potter area for Islands until that park closes..... I dont know

I imagine that if the train remained open it would work pretty much the same as it will during the day. During the day, you will need a park-to-park ticket to ride the train to the other park. During HHN, you would need a valid IoA ticket to ride one way and a valid HHN ticket to ride the other way.

My guess is that during HHN, the train ride will close to avoid the logistical issues of having yet another entrance into the park. I would expect the Gringotts coaster to be open.

  2. For Harry Potter, I would be fine with just having Death Eaters roaming around. That's it. They don't even need to scare people. They can just walk around and look at you and that would be enough for me.

That would be cool. You could also use a wire effect to have them flying around overhead.

I can see the issue with the ride. Kids are going to want to ride it because of the books and movies and some might not be able to handle too much scary stuff. But for HHN, everyone should know what they're getting into. Of course you would focus on the dark parts of the story, that's what HHN does.

I can't imagine them not having the new ride open. They always have their newest rides running during HHN.

  3. I believe that since there's too much corporate controversy over using Harry Potter for HHN, they'll either keep a limited amount of that space (maybe just Gringotts) open to vacuum up some of the crowd or just close off everything that's not the waterfront path at night.

What's the controversy about? It seems like a perfect fit to me. They could even do a HP themed scarezone or house. Plenty of material: dementors, giant spiders, ogres, ghosts, thestrals (the freaky invisible horses), etc. You could even use the centaurs and house elves for some scares.

  4. It was done that way to match up with the movie. In the movie, you see those scenes cut in with scenes of him reading the words from the book.

I do agree that they could have done a bit more with all that empty space at the beginning.

  5. Anyone know why this house is always the least packed? I havent seen it go over 30 minutes. WHich sucks cuz its a good house, way better than silent hill was last year, and Silent hill had 60+++ minute waits.

I think It is a combination of things. 1) It is based on a 13-year old video game, 2) It is a fairly short house, 3) The sets are not all that interesting to someone not familiar with the games, 4) It is completely overshadowed by the houses based on more current/popular IPs (CITW, ED, WD, and AWIL)

  6. I did the tour on Thursday and our guide said that they have been tweaking that scene. Both Thursday and Friday nights, it was a prop with a constant trickle of water. Maybe they changed it to the interval effect for Saturday. That would probably work better. I didn't think the trickle of water was very effective.

  7. Anyone else manage to get a solo walkthrough of one of the houses? On Friday, my second house during SaS was Resident Evil. I walked through the line and when I got to the entrance, there was no one else there and there was no one in line behind me either. I walked through the entire house on my own. Kind of cool being able to walk through at my own pace and not have to deal with the conga line. That's never happened to me before. The closest I've come was a couple of years ago when I was stopped at the entrance to a house for a couple of minutes and then got to be at the head of the line going in.

  8. I thought it was actually funny because I went this past Friday and I actually spent LESS time waiting in lines than this Saturday when I went WITH an Express Pass. I know Saturday is a lot more hectic, but when you have an Express Pass people don't really even look at the posted wait times and you still even with an Express Pass wait around 30% of the posted wait time. So when we got in a 60 min line, it took us 20 minutes to get in with the Express Pass and then we used the Express Pass in houses that only had 10-15 min waits which I think is a waste but we didn't intend to do anything more than once on Saturday. I much preferred my Friday without an Express Pass than I did my Saturday with one and as I've said before with proper planning you really don't need an express pass and even with an Express Pass I stood in lines longer. It was nice to go at a leisure pace and reduce walking, but I just don't think it's worth the money. To each their own, I guess! :-)

I was there this Thursday and Friday and I thought the crowds were actually a bit lower on Friday for some reason -- especially early in the night. Maybe it had something to do with the AP party soaking up some of the early crowd. I did 7 houses without express, did all 8 again with express, saw Rocky Horror, and rode Mummy. I probably could have done at least one more house, but I decided to listen to my sore legs and feet and head back to the hotel instead.

  9. I didn't care for the streets this year. I like creativity and imagination in my horror movies and the same goes for the scare zones and houses. After a while, it was just "oh, more zombies..."

The little sketches that I heard about (where a zombie would attack a survivor) sounded like a neat idea, but the reality is that despite spending 2 days at the parks, I never saw any of them. Probably because I didn't spend any time hanging around in the streets. Too focused on getting in line for the next house! I would bet that if you took a survey of guests, 75% of them (if not more) would not have seen anything other than the standard zombies wandering around.

I really hope they go back to having different themes for the scare zones next year. I really miss well-themed scarezones like Asylum in Wonderland, Containment, Zombie Gras, Canyon of Lost Souls, and "7" (yea, Zombie Gras was more zombies, but at least they were interesting zombies).

  11. Does anybody know what happened in Walking Dead last night around 10:30? We were waiting in line for a while, and after a while on the last stretch before we got into the house they had everybody turn around and exit the line. There was a firetruck passing by and I'm pretty sure the cast was evacuated.

I was in the fastpass line when that happened. Pretty annoyed too, since that caused me to completely miss seeing WD that night.

I didn't hear anything official, but I heard a rumor from the crowd that someone pulled a fire alarm.

Was it just me, or was the wait time section of the website completely unusable? I tried it several times from my phone while I was there, but it just kept saying "We cannot locate you within the resort". All of my location stuff was turned on and I was allowing it to share the location, but the website just wouldn't work for some reason.

  12. I wasn't at the event, but I was tracking the wait times from the website. Don't know how well this matches reality, but from the 9 batches of wait times I grabbed from the website last night, here's what I found:

The longest wait times were at Evil Dead, Havoc2, American Werewolf, and Cabin in the Woods. The lines for these averaged about 30 minutes with spikes up to 50 minutes.

Walking Dead and Afterlife averaged about 25 minutes, but were as low as 10-15 minutes at times.

Resident Evil and La Llorona averaged 14 minutes and 11 minutes respectively, but were as low a 5 minutes near the end of the night.

Can anyone who was there last night confirm whether these wait times match with what you saw?

  13. Any feedback on which houses have the longest lines?

I finally got into the wait time list on the website last night after getting Firefox to spoof my location (The plugin I downloaded for Chrome didn't appear to work), but I was doing other things and only managed to see a couple of updates which seemed to show the wait times around 30-45 minutes for most of the houses.
