  1. Ok can someone explain to me what a "dead exposure type house" means? I missed that house in 08....

I missed that event myself but im assuming, lots of strobe effects...an excessive amount...like explosions in a michael bay film! "Hey a&d....how can we redo DE but make it a little different and better?"-----"MORE FLASH!!!!"---"Sir, those are special effects, not solutions."

  2. Written with the room permits in mind!

And I believe that the store was after rooftop when they go looking for Merle after seeing he escaped. Also, IF the house enters into a prison-style scarezone, what are the chances we see the barn on fire? Technically it would make sense...

the burning barn could be easy in theory...they could do effects like The Orfanage: Ashes to Ashes...which i believe was my fave house of HHN XX

  3. I'm sorry I was being sorta smart alecky and also at that time hoping the building wasn't coming down. It has, the house in question has been scrapped... as far as I have heard since then at least. (today's revelation of 8 houses has taken everyone by surprise) And safety issues would prohibit that area for use as you said.

So we are for sure getting 8? Is it in the forums or the HHN site? If on here could you link the post please? (p.s. dr. jimmy, big fan of your "spoiler" vids on youtube...always entertaining.)

  4. Something just occurred to me... maybe that photo Armando posted is from then digging an actual "Creature Pit" in the house???? They could do something like that if the house was in a building that is going to be torn down afterwards anyway!!!!

Pretty legitimate point but do you think they would want to even remotely risk safety of park goers by having them enter a live demolition site? Albeit there may not be anything structurally wrong with the SS. And I believe I heard demolition already started? Idk, guess I'll just have to try and peep it out when I go back to Uni later this month

  5. well see, why was the thing bad for you? i love that house, but, i already wrote on the thing thread, for some reason the actors here are taking longer to scare, longer than other actors in other houses, I nearly missed all the actors one of the times i went, but, i bet with the actors coming at you maybe you will change your mind about it

possibly...again...i had VERY high hopes for this house based off of how good assimilation was...but im going back in a week or so on a non peak night so im going to be trying again...and them taking more time makes sense as i only had like 3 or 4 actors jump at me the whollleeee time. and like i said...makeup and everything in there was probably the best

  6. Overall...this has got to be the best year I have been to..HHN 17 was good and HHN XX wasnt bad....but this year...WOW...

The order I did the houses in will be the order these quick reviews will be done (and I am an AP so order is a little funky)

The Forsaken This house was a great starter...some genuine scares and EXCELLENT EFFECTS!!!!! Although the glowing green eyes on every single scare actor got old pretty fast. good house though...(3.75 out of 5)

The In-Between HANDS DOWN FAVORITE HOUSE EVER!!!!! I was scared and entertained at the appropriate times in the house...spinning room was amazing plus the rune board in the dorm...not one single complaint whatsoever....best.house.ever. (5 out of 5 easy)

Winter's Night Lived up to my expectations...got a VERY cold house with some scares...didnt get me bad but was still a good one...very impressed with the atmosphere and weather effects.(3.5 out of 5)

Nightengale's: Blood Prey OH.MY.GOD. one of the few houses to get a genuine scare out of me...not one complaint...enjoyed the trenches throughout...the banshee walking across the many corpses was very creepy...2 banshees scaring from both sides unexpectedly..thought it was the scariest until i got to a house later on.great and scary house! (4.25 out of 5)

The Thing Sigh.... I may have been jaded or had my hopes up to high...but this in my opinion was the biggest let down of all the houses this year...was really hoping it would have been as good as Assimilation...but alas...barely scared me...snow and cold effects were much better in Winter's Night...greatest part of the house was the makeup effects on the infected scareactors...disappointed overall though :( almost feel like universal dropped the ball on this one...(2 out of 5)

Nevermore: The Madness of PoeGreat house...amazed at the entrance with Poe's image on the burnt pages...the hanging pages throughout were great...and even got a little creeped out in the masque of the red death room...overall not a very scary house, felt more like it was for fans of poe, but still good. (3 out of 5)

H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: Holidays of Horror You know....this one was kind of a sleeper for me...wasn't expecting much especially after what our friends who already went through told us about it...but was impressed...got several good scares out of me and i was genuinely grossed/creeped out in the thanksgiving room, plus the smells were amazing in there!!! (4 out of 5)

Saws and Steam: Into the MachineHO-LEE-CRAP!!! Scarezone last year was great and I would only have hoped for this to be at least as good...wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better...scared the living hell out of me at some points...the fish tanks...oh the fish tanks...the heat effect was brilliant and the guy with the chainsaw after you leave the house made me actually run!!! house of the year vote in my eyes....(5 out of 5)

  7. i agree with Black mask... I love the movie houses!!!! With the Thing being one of my favorite movies I cant wait for this house!!!

And someone earlier said they didnt like Carpenters' The Thing... no way you are a human being..... there is NO WAY!

only one way to find out...KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!

  8. Don't be so lazy and read the first post on the thread. Basically we walk around and find good locations and shoot pictures. We all share hints and tricks to help everyone's pictures come out better. It should be fun.

The date seems ok to me.

not so much a matter of my laze as it is a post i mustve accidentally missed.

  9. I'm probably one of the few who remember H.R. Pufnstuf Doc. <_<

I'm only 21 and I know H.R. Pufnstuf! Then again I wasn't raised by a bunch of whacked out shut ins. :)

Also, while I have always dug the creature feature type flicks....I have to admit, I do NOT have high hopes for

this house...Granted I haven't experienced any of the "comedy" houses (only been to carnival of carnage and hhn XX) unless you count zombiegeddon

which I was totally into, but is this one and ones like it just meant

to liven the mood and not take it too seriously, or is there some kind of element that I can't think of that will

    actually make this house scary?

  10. Umm.....yeah so a photowalk. Is a gathering of people who like to take photos. You pick a location, bring any camera you have and take photos together. The goal by the end is that you have fun and maybe learn a tip or two about how to take better photos. Seeing as HHN is a popular photo taking event. I thought it would help whoever wanted to join the photo walk.

AH, great, thanks. I would totally be down for that..But, I'm going opening night and not 100% sure if i am/am able to go any other times, though i will try for the photo walk.

Is anyone else going opening night? Maybe possibly do a mini photo walk?

  11. Yes I can confirm this house is in SS 23. We've know it is a SS since about May. Poe and the In Between are the Sprung Tents.

Thanks!!! My faith in this is valid!!! The house (hopefully) is going to be different from Assimilation!

  12. In all honesty, while I AM looking forward to this house...I really am trying not to get my hopes up. While assimilation was the first hhn house I have ever been to(and was genuinely scared by...especially with the dog jumping through the wall), I DO NOT want to go through the exact same house as before...That being said, I believe that may very well be the case here if they go to the sprung tent from 2007/last year for the Dogs of War house. I'm hoping that I just missed the memo that they are FOR SURE moving the thing over to a sound stage, can anyone confirm or deny that? [wanting to give the house a chance as this is my favorite non franchise horror movie ever!]
