  1. In case they haven't been seen...

Hop on over to the construction pics thread!

The pumpkins are back in CP and NY is turning into a beautiful fall festival!

This just made my day. The pumpkins in CP have always been one of my favorite things it nice to see them return

  2. You can count on The Walking Dead for a 5th straight year, if Crimson Peak is a hit in Hollywood that could come to Orlando.  This year, it's not like Freddy, Jason, Scream (yes, I know, I've read the last 5 pages), or AWIL had a new movie so anything is possible.  Sinister, Insidious, and Paranormal Activitiy will all have their yearly sequels.  Saw is supposed to be rebooted as is Nightmare on Elmstreet.  The Halloween series is supposed to get a Michael Myers sequel.  Horror movies by their very nature are cheap to produce and open to big numbers, there's no shortage of IPs to come in the next decade.

With the passing of Roddy Piper there's renewed hope of a They Live house, in loving tribute to him, that I know a bunch of people other than myself have been hoping for.

As usual, everything I say has 0% insider information behind it...just speculating.

Sadly we will keep seeing TWD or Fear the walking dead until the popularity wears off or it doesn't bring in the crowds.

  3. I doubt they're going to use many IPs next year, especially if The Purge replaces Scream. The Walking Dead and The Conjuring are the only current IPs I could actually see them using (and Purge if it's not used this year), a classic IP or two, and that's it.

They will continue to use IP because IP bring in the general public. I doubt marketing will learn anything from this year's drama other than they will never try and use the scream franchise agian. Whichthey should have realized from the Hollywood maze.

  4. Since I've started to follow the event on a daily bases I have never seen a IP get dropped this late (If it did get dropped).. Think about it, shirts are done, standees are done, all the advertisements are basically done.. Hell the house was one of the first ones to get finished

I just mentioned this to Legacy on facebook a few minutes, normally around this time we are seeing billboards go up and the past couple of years we have had the Publix standee and bk cups out by now. If the house is truly scrapped it putting a cramp in marketing game plan because like you said normally all the promo stuff is done.

  5. This might not be it, but one "surprise" I think they should have been doing for years is having scare actors blended in with people in the queue. At a certain point, the scare actor who appears to be a guest is attacked and turned into a victim.

I have been to a lot of smaller haunts here in Texas and this works well for them however there are way to many people in the HHN queues to make this happen. At the small haunts i have seen people run the length of the entire queue pushing and shoving people out of there way to get away from the scare actor. Mix Pushing and Shoving + Alcohol and you going to get fights occurring or someone getting injured \ trampled.

  6. So, it was just a Hollywood announcement. Return of La Llorona.

According to Penn's twitter he is Orlando today so hopefully we will get the P&T announcement tomarrow

    Penn Jillette ‏@pennjillette

Off to Orlando this morning. It's really early in the morning. Wicked early. Oh dear. There are other people up this early. Amazing.

  7. Sorry to take away from thread.

It amuses me that we go threw the same cycle year after year. Every year it the same thing this year is going to suck because of X,Y,Z but every year the people complaining keep going and end up enjoying the event. Why do we have to keep repeating this cycle year after year? Sure some years are not that great but they are never horrible.

In the past 17 years I have been "scared" once by a rock cammo guy in IOA back in 2003 or 2004. However I still go to the event because I have have fun watching the people who do get scared when they are chased by a scare actor. The only year I deem bad in my mind was 2007 due to the lack of scare zones which was not even Uni fault it was Newlines fault. But you know what I went back in 2008 and that year was awesome year. (probably one of my favorite)

... So Can we please put an end to the endless cycle of "This year is gonna suck because X,Y,Z" and get back to speculating.

    *get off soapbox*

  8. I might be completely wrong but I dont think it will all that good, obviously it hasnt been made and no one has experienced it but I just cant see how P&T can be scary?! Its off the cards but a show is much more appropiate, a house is a step a bit too far.

This house could go several ways It could be our dark comedy house of the year or it could be a dark story from the minds of Penn & Teller. Teller does indeed know horror as he has written a Tales from the Crypt script and several dark\horror related things.

  9. :( anyways, you think they will announce anything other than penn n teller or alice cooper? cuz to me it sounds like those are equal ip, why would they only announce one... is there anything else u can think of ?

I would like the announcement to be P&T so everyone will stop arguing about it. However I am almost positive it will Alice Cooper.

  10. Although im sure universal will not let us down, this is the first year im just not as excited as ive been in the previous years. It just seems this year there is no originality and creativity. with walking dead and silent hill, and now penn & teller and the alice cooper house rumors..these are all very "HOLLYWOODISH." and plus the website being so generic and kinda cheap so far.. it just doesnt help the situation. I havent really followed through with the whole alice cooper house rumor. where did this come from if anyone doesnt mind filling me in..i know im a little late.

    Welcome to the new era.

I have a feeling we will see this trend continue were the 2 event are almost the same .

Having played the Silent Hill games I am exited to see this come to life. The walking dead not so much...

  11. You really have no clue what you're talking about, do you? They're famous for being magicians with a "psychotic twist" who specialize in gory tricks. "Many of their effects rely heavily on shock appeal and violence, although presented in a humorous manner." Teller is debuting a horror film. They're in the very least, far more significant to the genre than the Undertaker from the WWE...

Either way, I don't see why they really 't need a specific tie to the genre. They're extremely creative minds who can add some very unique effects and factors to this year's event.

Also Karras if you read the link in the quoted post above it will show you other things Teller has done in the " World of Horror".

  12. Ok now, look closely (real close) at the names you presented in your post. Every one of them is involved in horror one way or another. What are Penn & Teller's contributions to the horror genre?

A quick google search would have told you there "link" to horror. (not to mention there dark twisted sense of humor)

The house may be based off this for all we know

  13. I watched The Walking Dead marathon this past weekend but didn't pay too much attention to the commercials. I didn't see anything that mentioned HHN. Does anybody know how Universal will make the official announcement of TWD house?

Legacy and I discussed this morning If we get any information on TWD being at Uni for HHN it will be this weekend at Comic-con.

  14. Is it just me or is there a face on the HHN Orlando website teaser page. Kinda looks a little like Jack the Clown. Look to the right just a little past the event dates calender between the dates 29th and the 20th...

And if you look to the upper right of the video player it looks like there is a skull does that mean death or the grim reaper could be this years icon?... I understand we are craving more information but over analyzing a background is desperate.

  15. I walked through this house during a cast change, and I still loved loved it! Saws n Steam is really great for a Jaws house. It felt like tent quality.

So Tent is the new sound stage sweet...

I am glad we have lowered our standards over the years
