  1. LOLOLOLOLOLOL @ 0:14 .... You can just *TELL* he knows he's going to get a bullseye - I love those moments! My favorite one of those so far is from last year: Fear SNUCK UP on a guy. So I'm sitting there drinking my cocacola and everyone else around is looking on with delight too because it's like "DUDE you are SO screwed when you turn around!" The guy who played FEAR (I think there was only one, right? I heard that the costume and stilt work were too much to do properly with two people?) was absolutely unbelievable with those stilts. The first night I sat watching him (yeha, I watched him for three nights .......) he actually snuck up on me while I was looking at him. I'm still trying to figure that out.
  2. I believe that was Scary Tales ..... I only remember this off hand because: #1 - I'd been through the house and seen the scream already and #2- I got my gullible girlfriend to say "Bloody Mary" three times in the mirror (er... maybe like 2.1 times ) Heck, she even freaked *me* out and I knew she was there and exactly when she was coming. And I don't think she even had one of those sound pedals (EPROM?) - I think it was just her.... Like Jambi, the genie on Pee-Wee's playhouse, except nowhere near as scary
  3. Chainsaw Hallway? I never went through Leave it to Cleaver and I don't remember that from the summaries I read - what was that liike? Almost sounds out of place in the "joke" house.
  4. OMG THAT WAS AMAZING!! One of the guys had a sadistic love of scaring the bejeebus out of poor unsuspecting girls. I saw one go to sit on his lap and she was THISCLOSE before he said something to her and she jumped literally to Mars. Okay, not literally to Mars, but literally jumped! Forget getting jump-scared, for me those are the scares that sell the ticket
  5. Really? Body Collectors? All the people I know who went through that pretty much said it was all ambiance and not so much the jump-out scares. I went through twice and the only time anyone tried anything was one of the scareactors in a corner who jumped out and dragged this huge blade across the ground. Growing up with Freddy, that sound always unnerves me. And, yes, the spine scene. Ah, good times..... I unfortunately never got to see a real "scare" in that room, nor could I imagine one. What would it be - one of the Gentlemen standing up in the theater saying boo? I think it's way creepier to just walk through it as if it were just an ordinary lecture Expectation of a "boo" can sometimes be way more effective, I think, than an actual "boo" ... The room in the Nightmare on Elm Street house with all the patients lying on the bed, for example... When I went through none of them did anything (sat up? groaned? I dont know what they did for their scare), but I think the antici-------pation was way more traumatic. Also, RHPS reference FTW!!!
  6. Yeah I knew that - I was just telling a stupid joke. You know, because the world is in 3d? Show me a house in 2d - THEN we'll have something !
  7. I can't seem to find that anywhere now... I seem to remember seeing Nosferatu-looking creatures with nasty big ppppointy teeth - was that Them? Oh, and another thing I'm totally missing out on here: aren't all houses in 3d?
  8. I are confused about the Frightanic (psh, like anybody would ever sail on a ship with that name!!) : I thought they weren't allowed to touch you in any way? What was it exactly that furried your ankles? (PS: Sure 'furried' is a word!)
  9. Oh no! Did they call the paramedics and wrap you in a warm towel and stuff? : )
  10. My guess is that its only a reflection of the potentially-riot-causing hatred of the remake-of-a-remake (i.e., backlash from the movie). I mean....... would you put a house based on Dominion as a much-anticipated house, given that it is wholly unnecessary and nearly sacrilege? (I'm assuming your handle is an Exorcist reference . . . .) I am missing something! Can somebody please tell me why the Nightengales house is ranked so high on this vote? Is there supposed to be something extra special about that house?
  11. .... How is it possible to practically build a maze that morphs in the small space of a scarezone?! I remember reading somewhere on here that this has been done before and that it was called a "live maze" but I can't get Google to cooperate and show me what exactly we're talking about here..... Nor can I find the original message I read about how it's been done. I'm thinking "Maze" means 6-7 foot high walls organized in such a way that there are plenty of dead ends . . . And also that "maze" means it's a topologically flat (i.e. closed) shape. The way I'm picturing it in my head the only way to move one of the walls would be to have each wall on wheels and have four or five people push it to make it move, but I doubt that's how it's going to be (and if it is I'm sadly just going to have to laugh at it). Anybody have any insight or info on this? I.Are.Baffled. Stupid morphing maze kills the mathematically foolproof escape method too; because of a maze's topology, you can put your hand on one wall and keep it on that wall while you walk and eventually you'll get out .... But if the walls are moving..... OMG ILL BE LOST FOR HOURS. ::makes the Frozen Icy Pop Jack Nicholson/Torrence face::
  12. What was your most intense Scare at HHN? Mine wasn't even just a little scare; I started to have a panic attack and everything. It was in the Nightmare on Elm Street house back in 07. They had that mirror maze, and at one point I walked into Freddy but he wasn't really there; it was just a reflection. That to me was just so unbelievably unnerving when it happened that I don't remember the rest of the house; I only remember trying to get the heck out of there as soon as possible. I can't think of another time in my life I've ever been that scared to where my physiology swings all the way in to fight-or-flight. Also close: 1- The gigantic bear in goldylocks' room in Scary Tales 08; 2- The completely dark room in Dead Exposure (also 08) 3- The first time I encountered one of those chainsaw bastards (I had no knowledge of them whatsoever). My favorite scare that I've seen was when one of the scarecators was dressed as a tree and he jumped out and got this one girl, who immediately fell down to the ground screaming. That was hilarious. I just kept thinking "how does that fit in to human evolution?"... That tactic would get you killed if you were in real danger! What a crazy reflex! Tree guy got me too even though I knew he was there and I had been hovering around the scarezone . . . I could go on but I won't ... Wow, I guess there's a number of strong solid reasons that I think 07 blows everything else out of the water! What about you? Scariest moment? Anybody else ever experience the extreme panic I had at the end of Freddy's house? That was so intense and so bad that I didn't even like it at all. It made me stay out of houses for the rest of the night. ...... that dark room in Dead Exposure with the bodies sure was a big scare though .. ...
  13. Nevermind the houses - I am looking forward to this year's HHN more than I have in years because I like to hang out in the scare zones! I usually get the FFP and go as many nights as possible, but I don't normally go into many houses... I find that the lines are usually too long and the houses all actually do kinda creep me out because I'm claustrophobic and peoplephobic, so just being trapped shoulder to shoulder with all those people is a nightmare to me, even without people jumping out. I can (and do) spend a whole night in just one scarezone though, especially with the right scareactors (you know who you are . . . .). I spent *three entire nights* in the Alice in Wonderland scarezone exclusively back in 08. Everyone in that zone was just fantastic, all the way through, end to end. All that said, this sounds like it's going to be possibly the most detailed and varied collection of scarezones ever attempted at HHN, and by far. . . That makes it more Awesome than the scarezones have been in a while because they all sound like they provide completely different - yet all entirely self-contained and convincing - environments to wander around in. As a person whose favorite part about HHN is hanging back in scarezones watching the scareactors almost make peoples' hearts explode, I am excited to see what sounds like a collection of quite beautiful *environments* I mean . . . when's the last time they did that? The past few years the scarezones have just been varied based on the type of characters wandering about, not the actual look and feel of the zone itself, and don't get me started on the impotent scarezone clones poor poor Julian got - even the tour guide on the guided tour said that two of the zones were pretty much exactly the same. That doesn't cut it for me! I need to be immersed! Recent scarezones haven't quite hit that mark. There are exceptions of course.... but this year it sounds like *all* of them are complete immersive environments. I for one can't wait, just based on the scarezones. I'd even love to see them during the day ( :: crosses fingers that I'm not too broke for RIP :: ). I can't even wrap my head around how they're going to pull off a maze that morphs! Throw in an Edgar Allan Poe house and a house that promises to bend reality and you've got yourself a deal, with or without Lady Luck's help. I do declare! Also, I'm glad other people are out there who were aware of the site going live as soon as it happened and felt the need to thoroughly consume and discuss. All my friends who live in the Real World don't get it!
