  1. Just a little note to the competitors:

    - Make your maze properties REALISTIC. So no Jaws or any such nonsense. Creepypastas (Slenderman, Jeff the Killer, etc.) may or may not work, it depends on how creative you are.

    - ANOES, TCM, and F13 have been done to death already, so if you're using any other movies please use something HHNH has never seen before. Halloween, Scream, and Chucky are a few notable exceptions because they deserved a second chance, given they only appeared once or had disappointing debuts.

    - You must have at least 2 movie-based mazes.

If you wish to sign up to the event please post on this page. Tell me whether you want to be a competitor or judge, and I'll update the sign up sheet on the original post ASAP.

  2. Hello and welcome to 2014's Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood Creation Competition!

The rules for this years competition will generally be the same as 2012's (we may have skipped 2013, unfortunately) but if you need a reminder here are some of the rules/guidelines, courtesy of DTH316.

    1. How the Game will be Played.

All players submit their event based on the guidelines. The judges will then grade each event. The top winners then be placed into the next round.

    2. Entry

    - All entries must cover the entire event - from the mazes to the shows. Each must be listed clearly and have a location.

    - One-shot ideas (JUST a single maze, JUST a single scarezone) will not be able for competition. If your event is in anyway not up to par with the guidelines, you will be notified of what changes need to be made by the deadline date. If the guidelines aren't met, the event will be disqualified.

    - You can enter into a game with only ONE event.

    - Your event can be something you've already created or something new or mish mashed ideas as long as they're your own. NO PLAIGARISM!

    3. Guidelines for Entries

    - There must be at least 5 mazes.

    - All the mazes must have a paragraph (5-10 sentences) description.

    - There must be at least 1 show with a paragraph long description.

    - There must be at least 5 scarezones, each with a paragraph long description.

    - There must be a Terror Tram with a paragraph long description.

    - Include all the rides that will be operating in your event, regardless of whether they're related to your event or not.

    - All events must have an Icon (original or movie-based) with a detailed backstory that will tie into your event.

    - Feel free add any extras to the event not listed. But pictures, maps, and drawings WILL NOT earn you extra credit in order to be fair. Feel free to use them to help illustrate your point.

    4. Judging

All the events will be judged on a scale of 100.

    1. Creativity - 20 points.

    2. Originality - 10 points.

    3. Theme - 10 points.

    4. Mazes - 20 points.

    5. Shows - 10 points.

    6. Scarezones - 15 points.

    7. Terror Tram - 15 points.

    5. Off Limit Areas

As is the rules of the par, there are some areas off limits that you can't create in or on.

    - The Lost World set.

    - The Simpsons on-ride video (feel free to mess with the queue though)

    - Any stages that would prohibit them from being used during the day (so try to stick with shows the stages instead)

    - Harry Potter World doesn't exist yet and wouldn't until 2016, so obviously, do not put it in your event and whatever it bulldozes over to make room for won't affected yet either.

    SIGN UPS:

    Participants

    Minimum: 5. Maximum: 10.

  3. Halloween Horror Nights 2014: Your Life is in Her Hands

Icon: Maria de la Herida aka The Nurse

    Backstory

By day Maria is a dedicated nurse, someone you wouldn't hesitate your life with. But by night, her real work begins...

Behind her seemingly innocent façade, the Head Nurse of Shadybrook General Hospital harbors a dark secret. Moonlighting as ruthless serial killer, Maria and her equally psychotic staff of nurses stalk the lonely halls of Shadybrook, murdering and harvesting the organs of unsuspecting patients.

    Event/Website Concept

When guests enter the HHN website, they find themselves in the lobby of Shadybrook General. They are greeted by a sultry yet sinister-looking nurse in 1950s attire. They are given option to "Check In" to play an online web game (similar to HHNO web-based games). After solving a number of puzzles/mini-games, guests are awarded keys to unlock 5 rooms in the hospital. Each room reveals a "victim" of the 4 mazes and Terror Tram in the event.

Patient #1: Ash Williams (Evil Dead: Dead by Dawn)

    Patient #2: Erin (You're Next...)

Patient #3: Annabel (Mama: Family is Forever)

Patient #4: Crazed Babysitter (The Legendary Truth: Evil Beyond Legend)

Patient #5: Mutilated Amputee (Terror Tram - Body Collectors: End of the Line)

Once all the puzzles are solved, the guests enter the Operating Room where they will see Nurse Maria performing an open heart surgery on the still-conscious Head Doctor. This reveals the Icon maze of the event, "The Ward."

(Maze, ScareZone, Terror Tram, and Show description will be posted later. ^_^)

  9. It has been a while since I've last been here, and I'm just stoked with how this year's event shaping up. The Walking Dead, Alice Cooper and the Seven Deadly Sins, Silent Hill, and now the return of La Llorona! I'm so happy, I think I'm going to cry :`)

    BTW

Judging on most of the posts, especially the ones from Kursedragon, not alot of people are happy with LL's return.

To the haters saying that Villa de Almas Perdidas sucked:

I can agree that VdAP was not really that scary, I have to admit that there were about two or three times that I was actually in that maze, but you have give some credit for the creepy atmosphere of the entire maze. The sets were mindblowing and captured the feeling of walking into a 1940s style ghost film. More so than appealing to the "scary-gore" that all the other mazes had least year, VdAP was aiming for the "creepiness," and that's what had actually made the maze so awesome. It did not have to be disgusting or gory, was scary enough with the sets, costumes, and legend of LL.

  10. Haha 2010, we got the Klownz PR/scareactor art BECAUSE of the delayed PRs. Me thinks that was only because of NOES and F13 stalling, with HOTC probably supposed to be announced in August all along. I could be wrong, I don't know.

And yes, it was July 19th last year that The Thing PR hit the web. So if we actually get a maze announcement this week, that'll be the earliest since 2009 when Saw was accidentally announced earlier in the year but then confirmed by Universal on June 25th.

And in honor of the upcoming Friday the 13th and hopefully PR of a maze, here's something to get you a tad bit excited; something that I've actually never seen before: a behind the scenes look at the first F13 maze, "Camp Blood" from the "His Name was Jason" DVD via hhnbro. Aw, sweet memories :'(

    [media=]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKvq5gQ1EPk

Wow! I almost forgot how awesome that maze was. It really brings back some good memories, especially the wheelchair scene, that scared the hell outa me on my first run.

    Thanks for the post!

  11. - "Dante is not a movie made in the 21st century."

That last one seems like a trick. Have us thinking that it's a movie made in the 20th century when really, it's not a movie at all!

However, that could spell trouble for our Silent Hill spec. He MAY be basing it off the video games, which would make that statement true but if the movies are in consideration, we're out of luck since the film wasn't made pre-2000.

Just to throw out there, in the videogame, Silent Hill 1 was supposed to be set some time in the mid-to-late 80's so there still could be hope for an SH maze IFF Murdy chooses to base it on the videogame series intead of the movie series.

Anyways, welcome to the forums Stitch!
