  2. I am really excited about this legion group. I hope the vamps are scary, sexy and arrogant since this is how I picture vamps in my mind. I wonder if we will see victims being fed upon or planted people who get attacked!?! That would seriously freak me out if someone I was walking near got attacked!!!

  3. Hmmmm an Ifrit or Efrit is a Arabic spirit of great power, a type of Djinn. Specifically they are creatures of smoke and fire, a fire demon if you will.

This spirit is being used currently in season 5 of True Blood. It is chasing Terry and he was cursed by a middle eastern woman. In the show, it is a vengeful demon. It will get you no matter where you are. There might not be a connection, but I thought I should mention it.

  4. Wesker... I will take the bait...

I think the gargoyle house could be a sleeper hit this year since it has the potential for some unique scares and techniques. I totally can see a room with mirrors like you mentioned. Also as others have stated, a room where we play the always fun game "Which one is real". What I am interested to see is the time period in which the house and story is placed. Will it be a modern gargoyles attack or will it be set a number of years ago. I would logically lean to a more present day time period for the house so it is not to close to the Victorian haunted house we are rumored to get. TBH Victorian time period is where I think gargoyles would fit best since many of the GP make that connection. I love the idea of gargolyes... what will they look like? I would like to see some from the IB return.

Had a crazy thought... What if the gargoyle creatures escaped from IB and are getting their own house? In a college dorm?

To say the least... I'm ready for the info to be released from some of the other 3 houses.

  5. Ask yourself this question...

Will the speculation forums, website, games, teasers, theme and/or back story make you spend more money in the park AFTER you bought the ticket? Maybe you MIGHT but some merchandise.... Sure you might buy some adult beverages... BUT you are in the door folks!!

    Oh... No you say...

Well my forum friends... there is the answer.

With this year being in the flux of changes and construction, Corporate doesn't need to spend the $$ on all the things we love to get us in the gate. Ultimately that's what they want... to get us in the door. Right now Uni seems to riding on their reputation to make it through this year. So, we go, we fill out the surveys and hope for the best again next year. I seriously doubt that many of us will NOT GO based purely on speculation this year. Now after the event and the speculation of HHN 23 some may decide not to go... which is understandable.

As JWfearman stated above... We all get it... We all want in depth themes, icons, ect... but this doesn't seem like it's happening this year. But we haven't even been to the event. We can have this discussion the end of September AFTER the event has started.

It's getting VERY difficult to read this thread... People are being rude, petty and snide. We are all passionate about this event but I think it's gotten out of hand. We have opinions and have the right to express them but let's not turn on each other. (Yes you will now start bashing my post... oh well *I tried*).

If you really think this year stinks AFTER you have attended the event then use your words and let UNI know.

PLEASE!!! Can we get back to speculating???

So I am excited about the clues for the haunted mansion... I could see this house being very scary! :)

  6. I think that with all the rumors with Penn and Teller that their announcement will be last. I am suprised by the frequency of reveals... I thought we would have a little dry spell with info (happy to be wrong though). I think the reveal will be Alice Cooper since IMO Penn and Teller is a bigger announcement than Alice Cooper.

I am at peace with the last two IP houses... I am actually excited to see all 4 IP houses come to life.

  7. So with the change in wording from the website, I wonder why the change?

    Here's my thoughts...

Maybe "in the flesh" means a SZ of highly recognizable horror icons or maybe just another nod towards zombies. The new wording makes me think that the original wording gave too much info away.

Why change the wording so soon after the 1st update? The new wording sounds less descriptive than the first.

  8. It's Never Too Soon To Start Panicking

Your end draws near as the night grows darker. On select nights September 21 – October 31, face horror’s most terrifying creatures in the flesh at Universal Orlando® Resort. Explore the depths of all-new haunted houses, spine-tingling scare zones, live shows and more. Halloween Horror Nights 22, featuring Silent Hill.

Here is the updated info... change of wording... I wonder why?

  9. Ok just hear me out...

I got an ephipany in the chat room about the generic website we currently have and all the speculation about it. If you remember, we had a countdown in the President's room in the HR house and then BOOM. Maybe that was the clue for this year? I could be reading way too much into a coincidence. The 00:00 in the raised lettering of the generic website and the connection to the HR house gives some credit to the original rumored theme of End of the World for this year. I'm kinda suprised no one saw this before me, since I am definately not an in the know member.

What do you think about the coincidence? Intentional or irrevelant due to all the changes?

  10. So this is all very interesting to say the least... here is a thought...

Maybe Uni started the ground work for the HHN house and scrapped it due to the bad condition of SS44. The demolition has to take place asap in order for something to be salvaged in time for HHN. Uni rushes to build some type of structure in the SS44 spot to be able to use it for HHN. Maybe SS44 was in such deporable shape that it had to be scrapped after the HHN crew started work and found out the place was crumbling.

I'm definately not in the know... but it seems silly to leap frog the rumored Gringots construction to start a rumored Transformers ride. Also doing all this construction so close to HHN, Despicable Me opening and summer peak attendance isn't smart imo. Some things are not meshing or adding up to me.

Seems to me that SS44 was a big hiccup for Uni and HHN planning.

Also, how long in advance must a permit be filed before construction takes place? Maybe we might see a secondary location pop up to compensate for SS44.

    Just my 2 cents.

  11. I really liked this zone. The energy was amazing! I got some of the best scares in this zone. Hiding behind the curtains really is awesome! Man some of the SA are tall and I mean TALL! Are you all that tall or is it apart of the costume?

  12. Spent a lot of time in this zone on Friday night this last weekend. The SAs in this zone are so fun to watch, especially the minions, and my favorite sin is Vanity. The way she looks is creepy but perfect for what too much Vanity would probably get you. While I still would have rather seen a 7 house, this zone is pretty cool.

I totally agree! I would love to see this as a house... each person suffering from the effects of the sin. I think this would be a strong theme for a house.

My husband absolutely loves the Lust lady as I am sure many other men do as well. I cannot tell you how many times a minion has gotten in my face...and I actually smelled their breath! That is true acting there! I think the minions started to recognize us after 3 consecutive nights walking through the zone over and over.

I really feel that this is the best scare zone and concept this year. The theme in itself is not scary but it has some of the best scares in it. I know that seems contradictory but if you have been through this zone you understand the analogy.

I hope that I get 1 more chance to see this zone!!! Good job Scare Actors!!!!

  13. This is the 1st year that I have followed this forum. I feel that a review is in order because I want to share my view as a new junkie versus the general public view that I had for so many years.

I will start off with the bad things about this year since there were so few:

Bill and Ted: This was painful to watch. I actually felt bad for the actors because their material is so bad. I would rather Universal cancel the show and come up with something new than continue to put on such a sad show. The jokes were dry/lame, and the story line was incoherent. There were many movies from the past summer that could have been parodied.

Death Drums: No too much hate here, I just feel like this show is in its infancy. This is a great concept but the actual show was a disappointment. The drummers were off timing horribly and that ruined it for me. The dancers were good and interesting to watch. I would like to see this show morph into a hybrid of Blue Man group.

Lady Luck scare zone: THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE WHOLE EVENT!!! When we went with friends on several nights, I actually felt embarrassed to explain why there was not a house for Lady Luck. Since coming over to the dark side…I held hope that Universal would make this the best scare zone. I honestly felt that this zone was thrown together. I wish it was held in the large street next to the zone. The best part of the zone was Lady Luck’s minions and I hope we see them again very soon! I want a house with the minions!!!! I felt for Lady Luck being the face of the event, she at least deserved the best zone.

HR Bloodenguts: I felt that this house has such great potential with the theme but fell flat due to the lack of scare actors and poor set design. The detail was awesome but the layout was poor. For example, in 3 times going through the house (the firework room and the valentine room) you saw the scare actors’ boo hole. This house could have been the best but fell flat due to the execution of the house.

Ok now that the bad is out of the way, I will rank the rest of the event by House/Zone from best to not my favorite.

    Houses

    1. Nightingales- best scares, most immersive

    2. Forsaken- Glad to see that the glowing eyes had an on/off switch. Slow house but ends with a good amount of sequential scares.

    3. Winter’s Night- 1st time I was disappointed. 2-3 times through I got all the scares. Gotta love the up-scare and the last room.

    4. In Between- Hated this the 1st time through. 2nd time through I was able to see all the detail and the really scary winged demon. Too short and not enough scares.

    5. The Thing- Really good use of effects. Best effect house. Repetitive use of the same mask though. Can’t wait to see the movie.

    6. Nevermore- This house had to grow on me. I was not looking forward to this house but I was won over by the detail and the actors of the house. Poe really goes mad.

    7. Saws and Steam- Good effects but I feel this house was always empty. This house would have been more intense had there been more actors. I felt there were too many rooms that had no scares in it.

Now I must say that 4-7 houses are interchangeable. I felt that the houses were all awesome and it was very hard to rank them. I also noticed that there were a lot more of sound queues in most houses. Sometimes the sounds made me jump more than the scare.

    Scare Zones

    1. Canyon of Dark Souls- Well done. The actors always had high energy. Got a good scare from a stilt walker.

    2. Night Maze-Only go through when it is dark. I got many, many scares in this zone. Several times I had a gate close me in and several actors rushed me. Has the most room for improvement.

    3. Grown Evil- Just wow… The masks and fog made for some of the best scares.

    4. 7- really loved the idea of a changing zone. The actors had a lot of energy!

    5. Acid Assault- Projections were amazing. Needed to be a smaller zone to get more scares.

Now that I followed this forum, there is so much that I was able to notice and enjoy. For the past 7 years I have wandered aimlessly around the event as a zombie (general public). My friends joked that they had a free personal tour guide to the event. I still really feel strong about the Icon house debate. Either have an icon and house or don’t have one at all. All of my zombie friends really felt that the event sucked because they based it on the Lady Luck scare zone and lack of an icon house. I tried to explain how Lady Luck shaped each house but everyone tuned me out because it was too hard to follow or too lame.

I absolutely loved this year! I am sad that my time at HHN has come to close this year. Please feel free to politely bash my opinion or agree with me. Also ask any questions you may have!

    Happy HHN(ing) this year!!!!
