  1. You know that scarezones and the terror tram aren't given the same importance that mazes are and you know that TWD is bigger than anything since the 80s. No need for dishonesty.

Dishonesty? How was I being dishonest? I ment that as a joke, not to be taken seriously. Hense following it up with "Lol. In all seriousness." I love TWD and have no problem with them using the property the way they are.

And I would disagree with the Terror Tram not given the same importance as the mazes. It's the one attraction that sets HHNH apart from others and is normal very well received by general guests (hard core fans, that's another matter). It's biggest problem though is that because it uses the film sets from the Backlot tour, they tend to be limited on what they can do with the sets. Well that and the crowding issues.

  2. Orlando has 8 maze venues, Hollywood has 5. I'm not happy about missing out on CITW either, but with five real mazes variety is a thing.

Yup, variety is key in an event like this. I mean, just imagine overloading on one theme. Imagine if we got a Walking Dead maze... And a Walking Dead Terror Tram... And a Walking Dead Scarezone... I mean, that would be crazy right?

    ...

    ...

    ...

    Wait a second...

Lol. In all seriousness, I have to say as a whole I'm a little underwhelmed by this years line up. TWD maze should be good (last years was my fav of the event), and Evil Dead was a nice surprise... But everything else left me saying "Eh." Insidious could be good, but most of us already assumed it would make an appearance and I'm not jumping for joy. Black Sabbath... Really? With all the great horror movie properties out there they could have gone after, and they go the musician route again? Monsters Remix... Again... Yeah, NOT happy there.

And while The Walking Dead experience in the backlot could be awesome, the first thing that came to my mind is the possibility of HUGE traffic problems for guests back there.

I hope my fears are unfounded. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to make it to HHN this year to see for myself. I'm finally taking a trip I've wanted to do for years: 2 weeks in Salem MA in October. I've heard from all over its the best Halloween destination in the US!

  3. Sleepy Hollow is certainly the most logical given then "Heads. Will. Roll." slogan. If it does turn out to be Sleepy Hollow though, they need to fire whoever approved that as a teaser for a maze announcement. I mean seriously, I can't think of anything that would give the maze away more then that little 'teaser' slogan. You'd think they'd be able to come up with something more cryptic.

  4. The obvious thing would be Sleepy Hollow (which would be super bad ass). Some people on FB are saying Predator -- it would appear that way (which would be equally bad ass).

Yeah, the glove on that hand looks very similar to a Predator glove. Could this be the maze that 'no one ever suggested'? I know I've heard a lot abou Alien, but I can't recall Predator ever being brought up. And it should be noted that Predator is getting a huge 3D BluRay release later this year. It would make sense as a promotional maze.

  5. @Ferfox - Yeah, it becomes very annoying when people bring up Jeepers Creepers. I don't know how many times myself or someone else has had to explain everything you just said because someone was so adamant about a Jeepers Creepers maze. *sighs* I think the topic of a Jeepers Creepers maze should be permanently banned.

Ok, back to the Evil Dead announcement. Looks like I've missed a lot of excitement! Never have I been more happy about being wrong! As some know, I was one of the more vocal posters about HHNH not getting Evil Dead... No because I didn't want it to happen, because I did, but because of what happened last year when Sony approached them about Evil Dead. And then Knott's ended up with the property. And the history that Knott's and Sony have had in the past.

My excitement is really starting to pick up!

  6. Perhaps it's Trick 'r Treat? Happy: ... Unhappy: ... Initials: ... gourd: Carvings (Like pumpkins) Dead: There was a lot of dead things Spirit: There were a lot of spirits Puppet: I'm fairly certain there were puppets in this movie? (Been a while since I've seen it) Monster: Sam Nativity: ... Friends: Kids are friends Crazy/Madhouse: The guy who kills that fat kid is crazy/madhouse when they carve faces Werewolf: The werewolf scene. Should have a mind to comprehend all... So easy to play with vast mind idiots. < Perhaps referring to the bus kids... Lol, maybe. On another topic, I was reading another forum talking about HHN... Yeah..... They all want La Llorona to return, Walking Dead, Halloween, Monster's Remix, etc. Also, apparently Murdy told someone the first maze will be announced on a day a horror movie is released. Didn't specify released in theatres or DvD. But some research, there's The Conjuring, Evil Dead (On Blu-Ray), JAWS :D. Quite a few actually. And the forum said AHS had been scrapped for Hollywood and Orlando. (Dr. Jimmy said it, apparently).
I like where your head is at with Trick r' Treat, but some of your connections could probably be a little more narrowed down. I think this would be a little more accurate: Happy: ... Unhappy: ... Initials: ... gourd: Jack O Lanterns that are present all during the movie (and did Murdy say something about pumpkin smells in one of the mazes?) Dead: The dead "zombie" children from the bus crash. Spirit: Sam is suppose to represent the spirit of Halloween Puppet: This one I can't be 100% sure one... But possibly the woman strung up at the beginning? I don't think there were any actual puppets in the movie. Monster: Monsters can be human. I'd go with the Principle killing the children, then pretending to be a real vampire. Nativity: ... Again, not really 100% on this one Friends: ... Group of friends at that go to the quarry. Crazy/Madhouse: Mr. Kreeg Werewolf: If you've seen the movie, this one is obvious. Not sure how likely Trick R' Treat is though. While it does have a great cult following, it was a DTDvd movie, so Murdy would be setting an interesting precedent by choosing it. On a similar not, Rides pointed out the connection to the Chinese zodiac in one of the picture hints. That may tie in to Nativity, which one meaning is "A horoscope for the time of one's birth."
  7. So I have everything on the board that was in another language translated... Roughly at least. It was in Croatian. Here's what it said

    "Happy - unhappy

    Initials

    Gourd

    Dead

    Spirit

    Puppet

    Monster

    Nativity

    Friends

    Madhouse

    Werewolf

Should have a mind to comprehend all...

So easy to play with vast mind idiots."

Not sure how spot on it all is, but it's a start.

  8. I also agree with Ferfox about the "Alice In Wonderland" overtones on the pictures. I think they are a little too obvious and he most likely is messing with us. I have seen a lot of people in twitter asking him about Alice. I also agree with Rides. The "Till We Meet Again" lyrics seem like the most likely to be to be a hint. Evidently it was written in 1918 and was popular in the 20's... At least in England.

  9. I don't know if they would go so political as to include it and possibly upset audience members on either side of the whole debate, but we are in California... The SCOTUS is set to make its final ruling on Prop 8 and DOMA next week. No matter how they rule, it will be nationwide news and possibly something they could play off of.

And then take your pick at any one of the several scandals in D.C. right now. My money is one a couple good punches at the IRS

  10. I did the RIP tour last year, though I think it was just called the VIP tour then. I migh be wrong though. The portions you walked we're up western street and around Amity. Being on the lot at night was really cool, but the "ghost stories" and fake little effects they tried were just lame and campy . We did get to do King Kong 360 though, which was a nice bonus.

Overall I think the VIP/RIP tour last year was worth it. The only real complain I had is that they sold to many of them for any given night. When we went to eat at the VIP lounge, we had to wait in a long line, an there were no tables open to sit at when we got our food, and the place seated at least 100 people. The unlimited front of line of all the mazes and rides was awesome though. We got through everything within the first 3 hours, and after that spent the rest of the night re doing everything we loved. We got 4 walk throughs of TWD in, 3 of Silent Hill, 2 of TCM and La Llorona... And multiple rides on the rides we loved.

  11. And any of those titles could lead to a theme as much as "Suffer the Children" could lead to La Llorona. I brought it up since it sets precedent for how loosely Murdy defines "theme" which means "really big hint." Like how Suffer the Children is a song directly about the Moors Murders, but just turned about to relate to dead children. Yes, the other hints lead spec to La Llorona, but it doesn't mean there isn't a big leap between a song about two notorious British serial killers and a piece of Mexican folklore aside from the title. If you work with how Murdy connected those two things, there's a lot to be dug up in those movie titles. Trickster was also said to have never been done by anyone...ghost houses are very common in haunt history. Even if we don't get Insidious there's the problem of doing a generic ghost house when so many people (not me, but a lot of people) want Insidious and giving them a generic ghost house instead of going for another IP.
Now we are looking at how in depth Murdy links his hints to the mazes. In that one instance you are right, but the consistency with the depth and meanings behind his hints is so all over the place through out the years. It's got us to the point that we as fans who follow them look into every little things he says and try to dissect every little clue even when the meanings behind them are sometimes very simple and straight forward. That's one of the things that makes following some of his clues so difficult, we never known how far reaching any one hint might actually be. As far as having never been done before, that could mean different things. It's hard to find anything at all in popular horror that hasn't already been done or attempted in the haunt industry, which leads me to believe that it may not have anything to do with content at all and be more about presentation, ect.
  12. Suffer Little Children did reveal the theme of the maze though... the death of children was one of the driving factors in the maze, and in turn La Llorona. Your right, Suffer Little Children didn't point to a maze about the Moors Murders... But not because the "theme" was wrong or off, but because when you combined that theme with the hints given about the maze it didn't lead to the Moors Murders.

Its also kind of counter productive to dismiss one form of speculation because another form of speculation might clash with it. At this point it's all speculation. We have no idea what we will get come September. Yes, we might get Insidious, and I would agree then that 2 ghost mazes is over kill (and I personally will think WTF if Orlando does do both TWD and Resident Evil) But right now, we don't know if we are getting Insidious, so we shouldn't really rule another possibility out.

Now I know Insidious has a LOT going for it: a new movie, Murdy and Blum talking last year, ect. I am a fan of the first and would love an Insidious maze.

I would also point out that, after going back and reading stuff, Murdy said that the assembly where they were told those things took place in 1981, but not necessarily that the movie or whatever was released in 1981. That would be something else to consider.

  13. ^ I get what your saying, but looking at all those titles, most of them don't sound like "themes" for a maze at all. He said the name of the movie or musical act/song/artist/whatever was the theme for the maze, not just a hint for the maze. The Funhouse, I could see that being considered a theme, but most are too specific to be boiled down to an overall theme and wouldn't match any of the other hints that have been given about Trickster.

And I wouldn't say just because we might get Insidious we wouldn't get another "ghost" maze. Look at HHNO... They were rumoured to get both TWD and Resident Evil, two zombie mazes. Sure it's unlikely, but not impossible.

  14. So I'm back and thought it was time I jumped back into the speculating! I have a theory I'd like to put forth for "Trickster" based on the hint DTH posted, and may account for the fact that all the other hints havnt leant themselves to any single property. I think "Trickster" is an original anthology maze based on different ghost stories throughout history across the world! Let me explain... (word of warning, I'm behind on speculation this year so I may be missing hints)

DTH said that the newest hint talked about a movie in 1981 they were told "not to see" and something musically "not to listen to." while some of the usual suspects (Evil Dead, AWIL, ect) were released in 1981, the hint also said that the movie and musical thing was a hint to the theme of the maze, not the exact property the maze is based on.

However!!! 1981 saw the release of Ghost Story, a movie some of you may remember being discussed last year during the La Llorona speculation. Could "Ghost Story" then be the theme? An anthology of popular ghost stories like La Llorona combined for a single maze? La Llorona was very popular the last two years, so I don't see why this wouldn't work. It could also possibly explain why Murdy is "scared" to do the maze. Could his fear come from something other then the exact content of the maze? Perhaps his fear comes more from about how he is going to pull a maze like this off considering there wouldn't be any singular linear storyline throughout the maze and instead is a series of stories one after then other.

As far as the "thing not to listen to", The Police released an album in 1981 called Ghost in the Machine, that featured the song Spirits in the Material World.

Alrighty so that's my big return to the speculating arena! Thoughts?

  15. ... I would oddly want to see that lol I know i haven't been much help this speculation season, but the hints so far have been too vague for me to even do some light research and digging. I really wanna get involved, but all the hints so far I feel are purposely impossible and light on info, as where before they were just excruciatingly hard. The hints need to narrow things down, or else ill just sit back for the next month and wait for the announcements to roll in without a care of winning a contest that seems half-rigged anyway.
That's exactly how I feel. It's almost as if John is doing the code names and hints to satisfy the fans that have come to expect them, but purposely made them so vague and hard in hope that none of them are really guessed and unanimously agreed upon before they are announced. Makes sense really, give the fans what they want, but do it in a way that ensures that the maze announcements really are "surprises" as instead of just "confirmations."
  16. Hey guys, an update on the sound stage speculation: My father, who works at Universal, had the privilege of having a Cinco de Mayo lunch inside of Stage 28. He said that they usually have the annual lunch for their studio employees at a parking lot on the backlot, but they decided this year to have it in Stage 28. I saw a picture and the floor looks very cleared-out; only tables and chairs that they can very easily move out of. Normally the stage is too busy to house something like this, but not this year. Also, the floor is clear. I wonder why....
While I hope this is good news for HHN, I do have to wonder if maybe its cleared out and awaiting a new production to move in? We are moving into TV pilot season as well nearing the start of filming for series that pick back up in the fall. So I will say I'm cautiously optimistic for now
  17. The only other thing I've been able to come up with that children did in schools during those times that they don't anymore (and forgive me if it's been said, but I haven't been as attentive to the forum as I use to be) is the "duck and cover" Civil Defense drills they used in schools from the 1950's to the late 80's in case of a nuclear attack. Of course fear of nuclear war was extremely high back then, and it was common for family's to build fallout shelters in or around there homes.

Now I don't see a connection with that to some of the other hints though... Anyone have any ideas?
