  1. Hey guys,

I'm a writer/director of many comedy sketches for internet media, and my sketch groups just released a Twilight Zone parody I made for them a few months back. I'd love for you guys to check it out if you're interested.

I've been a die hard Twilight Zone fan for my entire life, so I hope I brought enough of the common themes from the show into this bit.

Below, I've posted a link to the video up on FunnyOrDie, which you can check out:

    http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/8f92eed6fa/night-of-the-living-doll

Please feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!

    Thanks, and Stay Scary,

    Direbrian

  2. Hey guys,

    Been a while...
I wanted to chime in now that we've officially begun announcement season to chime in on my thoughts.
First off, I know you all are speculating it, but I really don't see Aliens V Predator as a maze this year.
Let's be honest, it's not really a horror film. It's more so action/sci-fi.

Alien would be sick, but AVP is a stretch.

My best guesses so far this year:
We already have TWD. (I have a feeling Uni Mgmt. told Murdy that if they spend so much on an entire prison block for TWD last year, they had to bring it back this year)

Second, I really feel like "The Conjuring" could make an appearance based on the popularity of the film last Summer, and based on the positive responses Murdy and Co. received last year for their first ever experiment into the world of "Paranormal" haunts.

Also, I'd love to see AHS. It's got a lot of potential with this last season and would make for a great variety of rock, monsters, creepiness, and the show's been widely successful more so now than ever before.

Last guess I see The Purge as Terror Tram.
Murdy said no other codes represent franchises that have existed before, but he usually doens't include TT with the code names.
    Usually...

That's all I got, but good luck to everyone and I can't wait for another spooky year.

PS, I don't care if you disagree with me, but these are just my best guesses.

  3. Well if you aren't familiar enough with Sabbath to see the difference between their work and Ozzy's career, read up before the maze. I'm not being snarky, there's a world of difference of tone and subject matter between their output and why they were so important and Ozzy's solo career. You'll have a much greater understanding and appreciation if you do. The reasons why Ozzy spec didn't pan out are the reasons why this maze is going to be amazing. Murdy said that although he thought GTH looked cool, it wasn't very scary. I think everyone here would agree. When asked about certain Cooper songs, he felt they didn't have a hard edge that was needed for horror. Like Ozzy's solo career. It didn't match up with Murdy and Chris' wishes to make a 3D maze that can rise above the comedy/fun/silly maze stigma attached to a 3D maze. Even Ozzy's horror songs were more upbeat and fun than scary or foreboding. I dig fun spooky music myself (mostly 50s/60s garage rock Halloween comps) but as far as hard scares, it doesn't invoke the right kinda mood.

However, what we getting is a Black Sabbath maze. The things they sang about make for a darker and much more disturbing maze. The music is meant to be dark. It's a message of doom instead of something peppy/fun. I'm not trying to insult Ozzy by saying his music has a mostly celebetory or joyous vibe, as I think he was going for. But yeah, we're going to see the amazing 3D technology but it's actually going to be...well scary. The fact that it's Sabbath and not Ozzy tells us that even though it's a 3D maze and based on music, we're actually in for a treat this time around. To me, this decision shows Murdy learning from his missteps and making the event better. At the base level, it's a cool 3D maze that wants to actually scare us. As far as big picture goes, it shows a positive change in the event. The same year that Murdy is going to try to make the TT actually resemble the property it was based on (as opposed to the generic zombie hike last year) and we might even get a freaking soundstage. Obviously some choices made this year I'm bummed about, but there's some really cool changes going on.

Bud, it's speculation and my speculation led me to Ozzy. And partially, I was right in saying that. I laid out my reasoning as to how I got there as well. I get the difference between the two, but bare in mind the 1981 clue lead me to Diary of a Mad Man. This was while most of you were still trying to validate a Cooper return. I get that there's a difference in "tone" between the two, but my own speculating got me about 98% there. And I'd still be down for an Ozzy central maze as well. But this was all in the codes.

  4. Looks like a few people are still confused about the difference between Ozzy and Black Sabbath. You would think that music fans would be able to notice the difference in tone and production. Or lyrical themes, since Ozzy didn't write most of Black Sabbath's lyrics.

If you are Black Sabbath fans you should know that there is a world of difference between how Sabbath sounded and what they sang about and Ozzy's solo career. Black Sabbath is much more than Ozzy. Iommi wrote those haunting riffs we're going to hear and Butler wrote most of the lyrics. Saying that Ozzy=Black Sabbath is ignoring the contributions of two amazing musicians and being oblivious as to why Black Sabbath is such an important band. That's why they are called the pioneers of doom metal. Ozzy's solo career mostly went along with the trends of ultra produced and peppy rock and roll anthems. If you are going to enjoy the maze, I really suggest paying attention to what Black Sabbath was and is all about, because there's very little overlap with Ozzy's solo career if you take more than a very casual overlook. Why do you think the new Black Sabbath album got that much more attention than anything Ozzy solo has put out recently?

Sorry for ranting, but I take metal seriously. Don't act like you prove the people who said Ozzy is too goofy to be a maze wrong when Black Sabbath ending up being the answer, unless you like wallowing in ignorance.

Hey kid, My math was closer than yours.

Besides, I never said I was a Black Sabbath fan. I just said I cracked the code and was stoked about the results.

Think you take a few more things than your metal too seriously ;)

  5. Hmm... Funny, I saw a lot of negative comments about the possibility of Ozzy and Co. making it to HHN, but now that Murdy has said it... things seemed to have quited down.

Well, maybe that's because some of us are too busy dining on crows to talk bad about the maze. haha

In all honesty, I'm really stoked for this maze.
    In Murdy's words...

"OK...have just a few minutes before I have to rejoin a meeting but wanted to share some more info about our new maze Black Sabbath 13 3D.. Aside from being the band that pretty much invented heavy metal, Sabbath's music has always been a warning to the world... A warning on the dangers of the occult, addiction, the horrors of war and nuclear apocalypse, this dark subject matter inspired the maze... This is an original maze based on those subjects, Chris and I drew our inspiration for each scene from the band's lyrics...so what will see? I mentioned 4 time periods...you'll journey through a Gothic Church, Victorian madhouses, WWI trenches and the Nevada proving grounds... What's the Nevada proving grounds? That's where the government tested nuclear bombs in the 1950's...so yeah, we're gonna nuke your ass! LOL

What won't you see? Characters designed to look like the band. All the characters in the maze are designed around the songs/themes... Gotta go chat with a celeb about a maze we have yet to release, will be back later to tell you a little more about Black Sabbath 13 3D...

Here's some more info on Black Sabbath 13 3D, this maze will be exclusive to HHN at USH...have to come to Hollywood to see it... Obviously Black Sabbath is a 3D maze, we're gonna continue to push what we do with 3D, now taking it to the characters make up, etc. This maze will also feature our first attempt at using performer triggered video, something new we haven't done before. Trying it in 1 scene. The title is, of course, a reference to the new Black Sabbath album "13" which debuted at #1 (first ever #1 for Sabbath in the USA) The new album also debuted at #1 all over the world, the band is touring right now (I hung with them in Austin Texas), they will be in LA!!! For information on the new album and tour, check out http://www.blacksabbath.com/ The new album rocks! Classic Sabbath!

Now I have to go scout a film shoot, will be back later to reveal how all the hints I dropped earlier in the year = Black Sabbath 13 3D! Oh and by the way...this is the only maze themed to a rock act in 2013. Thought you might be wondering about that. Mystery solved : ) #carny"

Tell me that doesn't sound great.

My guess is that the 3D video portion is the Nevada Bomb Testing site

  6. No, it's Rob Zombie. Rob Zombie who directed the movie. I can break it down for you.

When Rob Zombie is singing into a microphone along with a band, he makes music. That is Rob Zombie being a musician. Rob Zombie had a maze based on his music back in 1999 called The Thrilling Chilling World of Rob Zombie. When Rob Zombie is sitting in a director's chair and directing a movie, that's him being a director. Something he directed, which was a movie, was HOTC. That movie, which was not a piece of music but rather a piece of cinema, was the basis for the maze. It was called Rob Zombie's House of a Thousand Corpses since he was the person who directed that movie. The same way that the official title for Hostel was Eli Roth's Hostel. Because Eli Roth was the director of that movie. For better or worse, Rob Zombie was one of the biggest names in horror movies at the time. I hear people say that Rob Zombie is their favorite horror director pretty often. Not me by any means, but people really do say that. The two HOTC mazes had nothing to do with his music.

And if there was a tweet where Murdy said Trickster had a connection to Sun Phillips, I'm still waiting on that.

Or at least people that look they are from 70s, and are on some kind of screen. Leading theory before was AWIL before Jimmy crushed that dream. One theory I have is AHS, but that's just one theory.

70's isn't too far off from the 80s... Could be that too.

I'm thinking it might be some news report that we're going to pass by on a television in one of the rooms of the maze....

Or, it's the porno scene from AWIL and Murdy's going to play the pissed off British guy. hahaha!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-nhJ3dqkxout since we're going to hear his name (which is inspired by a Soup if you listened closely) I'm leaning towards news report.

Did any of you get to see Eli Roth's Goretorium?

He did something like that with a vintage news report before you entered the maze. Twas sick.

HHN Is trying to hard to make their death scenes look real.

    haha

  7. it's officially called Rob Zombie's House of a Thousand Corpses. Is there another Rob Zombie that directed this picture?

USH made a maze off of Rob Zombie's Movie, but used his notoriety as a Musician.

    IT WAS BOTH!

Let's all agree that it's somewhere in the middle.

    BLESS YOU GRAY AREAS!!!

Now, on to more pressing conversation, anything else!

Pumpkin has 70's people in it.

    Discuss...

  8. How awesome would it be if Trickster was really just a maze about the real life "Trickster" character who came to John's middle school?
And it was filled with heavy metal music and strobe lights and some retard in a crazy wig telling everyone in the house not to watch horror movies or do drugs.

And the whole time John Murdy would be sitting behind a one way mirror laughing is ass off...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayO1wtXbh_Q

  9. I think whatever Trickster ends up being I'll be alright with, since I know at least it isn't Ozzy's "I sang about a werewolf once guys" maze. His music is only dark if you 11 years old or a deeply conservative Christian.

    http://youtu.be/KIikqPmbgvI

It's happening, and you KNOW It's going to be sick since Murdy's at the helm...

But you don't want to enjoy an Ozzy Osbourne Maze...

You have to admit that Murdy has yet to make a maze that wasn't better than it's subject matter to begin with. (HOH Excluded)

That's why we're all here.... right?

  10. Ahh ok...what about the ones on the white board? Some of those were for trickster right?

From that, I took Werewolf and Madhouse.

    Bark at the Moon

    Diary of a Mad Man.

If I may say, I spend a lot of time on these codes trying to crack them.

That was how I managed to crack "Classic Cowboy" last year and managed to get the behind the scenes maze tour with Murdy.

It's all about thinking outside the box and applying what properties you already are familiar with to the codes, not the code to the property.

Think logistically about what Could be a maze possibility.

My count for the remainder of the HHN Lineup this year (at this point)...

Ozzy Osbourne "Bark at the Moon"

    Insidious

    Uni Classic Monsters 2.0

    Trick 'r Treat.

  11. People are just in denial and want it to be something else and honestly I can't blame em but it is what it is. I will gladly eat crow if its announced to be something else - god knows I'll enjoy an amazing maze to be announced in time for my birthday this Friday :-D

    Quote that.

    I, personally, want more Cooper.

I just know that it's going to be Ozzy, which ain't so bad either. It's a different flavor of musical horror.

  12. Personally, I'm a fan of variety.

Last year we had mazes based on: a movie, TV show, musician, video game, folk lore, and universal classic monsters. There really weren't any two areas that were similar (minus the Uni monsters remixed). I think that it opens up a wide area TO pull from and keeps things around the park interesting.

When I met John, he told me himself, there are only so many movies they can do. I'm all for adding musicians to the pot. Who knows, maybe well get those Slipknot/Manson/Misfits/Iron Maiden/etc. mazes we've all wanted over the years...

  13. Anytime a Cooper maze is brought up by Murdy, people say that he should do Kiss/Manson/Ozzy.

Somebody asked about From the Inside for a Cooper maze. "Plot wise yes but the music wouldn't work for HHN. David Foster's production on it is too slick, not hard edged enough"

Come on. That's pretty slick. The big payoff for Bark at the Moon is a campy 80s werewolf. Werewolves are at the park 365 days a year. Diary of a Madman is a good song, but what's really there to exploit? What could that song bring that hasn't been done in WTMN and or GTH?? He has very few songs that could be considered horror based. His albums have no concept behind them to carry the theme of a maze, unlike WTMN or GTH. Truth and time go hand in hand, but if it's Ozzy that's just ridiculous.

I love Cooper. I've seen him 3 times and seen Ozzy, never. But I'm just looking at what fits and it's Ozzy. That's not to say Cooper wont return this year, just that its not "Trickster".

I think it's also a bigger "get" for HHN (with a wider following than Coop), and maybe Uni management had more of a hand in the decision making, who knows?

  14. I think it sure could be Alice. Murdy said he had to take TWO flights to get to where he's going and Alice is in Sweden today and Germany tomorrow according to his tour page.

Murdy said it hadn't been suggested, but that could be carnying just meaning 'The last temptation of Alice' hasn't been specifically suggested before.

I really hope this isn't as obvious as he's leading us to believe. I was hoping the Alice in Wonderland clues all year long were red herrings.

Guys, it's not Cooper, but it's along those same lines. The maze has to be music based in order to span those 4 time periods... But this one ain't Cooper. What other artists are on tour right now... I've already cracked this code name and previously broadcasted my answer on this board.

  15. Based on the tweets murdy did this morning sounds like he is meeting up with Alice Cooper. One thing from a tweet scares me and that's when murdy listed the carry on items. One is "viewing devices". I think 3D glasses. Im gonna be very upset if were gonna get another Alice 3D maze. I will pretty much "Abandon all hope".

    This one sure ain't Alice.

Remember, Trickster is a franchise that has never been suggested before...
