  1. I'm just going to list my order after tonight, because I will be writing my own review in each of the house an scarezone threads, but:

My vote was for The Foresaken

    My list:

    1- The Foresaken

    1 and 1/2 (so close) - Nightingales

    3- The In-Between

    4- the Thing

    5- Saws n Steam

    6- Winter's Night

    7- Nevermore

    8- HR Bloodngutz

  2. I haven't really been reading a lot or posting a lot 'cause I haven't had a chance to go yet. Well, I'm going tonight! My mom, my brother and I. (pictures in the Let the scaracters know who you are thread) so come say hi if you see me! If you say "Aren't you Jonny from HNN?" I'll buy you a beer!

  3. So, I haven't posted on here much recently due to just being crazy busy, but I've read most posts and followed up on most spec. until the full reveal came out. Now I feel I must add my two cents for some things:

First off, let's talk Lady Luck. As an icon, I love the way she's portrayed on the media ART. (Burger King ads, in-store displays, etc.) The 'cartoon' if you will version, not the actress playing her. As for the actress, the "normal" side of her (if there really even is a normal side) isn't very appealing. I've heard her acting coming into question, and I think I know why. This is really the first time we've had a younger, female icon. We've had old creepy bitches, old creepy dudes, crazy clowns, and I guess you could consider the Director somewhat younger than most. But as for LL, it's really hard to play creepy/scary with a relatively normal look. When the first little clip of the commercial came out, I was a tad upset as well (I mean, what's with that laugh?) but after seeing the full commercial, I'm pretty stoked to see how well they can hash out that demonic side of her. As for the back story, I'm indifferent. I feel that if you're going to have an icon as poingant as Lady Luck, she should have SOME kind of one. Then again, we've had amazing years in the past that didn't have icons at all, which allowed for such a randomized selection of themes for houses and scarezones. In the back of my mind, I'm hoping that this isn't the FULL reveal, and that we will learn more of LL and her history, and I'll hold out until opening night in hopes that we might get more about her.

    As for the Houses:

Nightingales: Blood Prey: I couldn't be more excited about. "War Of The Living Dead" was one of my favorite scarezones of all time. I've been waiting to see Uni do a war-themed house, and I'm excited to see one coming up now. Probably one of my more anticipated houses.

H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: Holidays of Horror:I've been a fan of the dark comedy houses ever since the first Psychoscareapy. The great thing about this house is everyone has memories of celebrating different holidays as kids, so it's something everyone can cling to and relate with. My only hope for this house is they throw in a Halloween scene, but something more ciche, and not as sinister/serious. Dead trick-or-treaters, rotten candy corns, etc. or even kind of a mockery of HHN itself. This idea has great potential.

Saws N Steam: Into The Machine:Not much to say about this other than I'm glad to see chainsaws brought into a house again. Texas Chainsaw Massacre made me cry at how detailed it was to the movie, and how just effing scary the entire thing was. Granted, it's not quite the same, but industrialized brutes with chainsaws in close spaces. Sign me up.

The Thing: Again, I've put my opinion on this before in the threads, so not much to say. I just hope for a better house than last time around with Assimilation.

Winter's Night: The Haunting Of Hawthorn Cemetary: Winter themed cemetary, supernatural house, maybe something with a little more back story, I'm all about this. I think with all the houses this year, this is obviously going to be the one with some depth behind it. I can't comment to much on it yet, but I'm excited to see what comes from it.

Neremore: The Madness Of Poe: I loved reading Poe in highschool, and I loved imagining the crazy sinister and dark things that happened in his stories. HOWEVER, I was a lot more interested in Poe's life. I'm desperately hoping that Uni will give account to some of the horrors and darkness that came about in his life (his wives, untimely death, etc.)

The Foresaken: I've said it before, I loved Ship Of Screams. Granted, we're not on a ship this time around, but from the sound of things, this is going to be great. I've always enjoyed the period houses. Plus, the fact that this has some factual history behind it makes me even more of a critic to see just how precise Uni is and how many ways they can reference and illude to Columbus.

The In Between: Okay, this one I need some help on. Portal to a new realm/world/dimension with creepy monster/alien/whatever life forms... is that really all we have to go on?

To add to the haunted house discussion: I'm really upset we don't have the casino themed house. Granted, HoS is doing one, but I would think that with such an overdone theme of gambling, lady luck, etc. that we would have gotten a house for it. Probably my biggest dissappoinment as of yet for the year.

    Scarezones:

I'm just going to bunch them all together. Acid Assault reminds me somewhat of Deadtropolis. Which really makes me hope they make it a lot better than that, because I was excited for it just as I am for this. Will we be feeling the Acid Rain?? Grown Evil, HELL YES! Field Of Screams only more intense!? Yes, please! Probably the Scarezone I look forward to the most! Canyon Of Dark Souls to me seems like a little bit of a cop out. We'll see, but I'm not looking forward to this too much. I feel like this is going to be a heavy scenery/prop based SZ. 7 sounds amazing. I know there was talk about the seven deadly sins, and I wonder if they're going that route truly, or if there is something else there throwing in that I don't see. Uni made characters as opposed to the SDS. This is another reason for me that I hold out for more of a story line. Your Luck Has Run Out.... Come on, for real? Is this really the first time an Icon hasn't had their own house? Is this just the front area of the park where we normally see our Icon for the first time? If so, I can't believe that Lady Luck isn't being used more. Seems to me like a big waste of a good icon. Nightmaze. I know most people are pretty excited about this one, but I'm indifferent. Aside from changing the layout as you walk, I'm hoping that there will be legitimate scares as well. It's going to be difficult having scareactors focus on changing walls AND scaring patrons. If executed properly, it could be amazing, and Uni is who I'd put money on to make it work (which I will be with my expensive ass ticket).

Well, I would write about the shows and my overall feel a little more, but that will have to wait, for I am off to work. Thanks for reading my thoughts, if you did!

  4. Now I wonder, why is it that you only get half a chip instead of a full one??? Are their going to be 8 more games??? Any thoughts???????

I'm thinking what's more likely to happen is once the reveal is done, there will be a second part to each game, where when you win that you get the other half of the chip and a preview for the house. Because right now, it's a bunch or random stuff you do for no reason. (you make the connections in the S&S game, but for what? You turn the TVs on, what will you end up watching? You open the crypt doors, what's inside?) I feel like there's almost a "part 2" coming for each game, tying them into the theme of the house it represents.

  5. Deter them from what?! What's they're goal that they COUNT on Floyd and Nurni to keep them focused on? Hosting? XD

The midnight hour is usually when a) a creature in human form takes they're original form or B) a nightwalker arises from sleep. And though it wasn't capitalized, I remember The Midnight Hour being a cheesy horror show from the 80s I believe.

  6. I don't think it would be mocking Caylee's death that would cause a stink; the most likely scenario for a mockery would be vilifying Casey (probably with a similar scenario to Hannah Montana from 2008), and there's still enough people out there who believe that she was innocent or that you can't make fun of someone when they've been declared innocent by a jury.

You'd think they would mock OJ less, then.......

I think that's a brilliant point, but you could argue OJ was a public figure BEFORE the trial. Celebrities go to trial, theyre free game I guess.

Anyway, to get off a Casey Anthony conversation, I'd love to see Sarah Palin's "National Tour" featured in the show XD

  7. After reading the post about the roulette wheel in the commercial, I immediately thought of the Saw VI scene where the team of people are tied to one of those playground wheels, and they slowly spin until one stops infront of the shotgun. Crazzzzzzy.

As for "Lady Luck", I like the idea, over the idea of Fate. I feel like you could say that your Luck determines your Fate. ;)

And even though it's been said, I would like to see an event without an icon again. I feel like the idea of Luck, Chance, Fate or whatever can easily be done without having a main character representing the idea. Granted marketing is a lot more powerful with a face to put to it, but isnt that an advertisers job? To find a new and interesting way to market a terrifying event without relying on the icon?

  8. I can imagine the Thing house looking and feeling quite different from 2007; the 2007 house was set in a completely made-up outpost in Florida, so they could do it up however they wanted with whatever theme they wanted. This year it would have to be based specifically on the Norwegian camp in the Antarctic, which has a massively different appearance and feel (especially temperature-wise).

Not necessarily. They could do the same idea of moving specimens to Florida again. Of course, if they DO have a Thing rehash/prequel, I can only hope they'd have the true Antarctic feeling as it should be done.

  9. At this point the rusty pipe could be anything. I don't think it's the spinning tunnel/vortex though. It will probably be a scenic piece used in the house somewhere...

I'd agree. You usually see the vortex prop only once in a year, if you see it at all. And if I'm not mistaken, it's been done in tents and soundstages. I don't know how they'd be able to put on in a low hanging ceiling area.

  10. I am resistant to giving in to the idea of S&S, but I think that's just because I want to see NEW ideas... and so far, we have two houses based on previous ideas. I'm sure S&S in a house will be impressive, but I am less than thrilled about the Thing.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've been trying to rack my brain for ANYTHING else these two clues could mean. At first I thought we're just basing the clues on stuff we've seen before because they fit. It's easier to make something fit the clue when you know everything about it than understand the clue when it's about something you know nothing about. (if that sentence makes any sense).

But..... The more I think about it, S&S and The Thing make a lot of sense. As Lizz said, I'd like to see completely new franchise ideas. And I was never a huge fan of the first Thing house, either...

  11. If they wanted to go for cold. SS 22 would be the one. It wouldn't share it with another house and is typically colder. But what we're hearing from that house doesn't sound right for The Thing to me. Unless of course it isn't a direct relation to the movie. Just an adaptation. Or it won't be cold... or... IDK.

Interesting you mention the cold... Wouldn't it be cool to have something like the coca cola exhibit at epcot? Hallway of fake snow? Does anyone have any clue what I'm talking about?

  12. First trailer for The Thing prequel....maybe a taste of what's to come???

    http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie-trailers/#/video/f749b83d-e1d0-4983-a918-a9c3914b03c0

(Found at this story on AICN: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/50381)

Fake block of ice in an ice cold entry room with someone drilling into it...then all hell breaks loose....

This is probably out there, but after watching this, The Thing house, if one is making a comeback, might fit best in Jaws queue, considering codenames and such

  13. So as for speculation, I think it's interesting that the website (which I can really only view my phone right now, but...) keeps mentioning fate and chance, but also ODDS. See if you have the chance to beat the ODDS. which can be an interesting play on words with mathematical odds, and "oddities". Anyone know anything or can speculate on "odds"?

  14. Or how quickly she would be able to sue them for slander. Even with her being a third-party vendor, a private individual (not a pop-culture celebrity or someone who chooses to be in the public eye) can easily take legal action against Universal even mentioning them in an a joking or inappropriate manner. And she would win, because it would be grossly inappropriate and unnecessary. Plan and simple, unless someone at Universal looses their mind, any references to Casey Anthony WILL NOT HAPPEN.

I have to disagree with all of you on this one. To me, the entire situation is almost too good to pass up. Granted, I don't think Casey Anthony will be a character in the show, but it's hard to say she won't be referenced at least once. Yes she is a local, meaning the vast majority of the audience would be able to relate, even if it's only to mention "I would have watched your show ____, but the only thing on TV here in Orlando for the past month has been Casey Anthony." only of course written better, since I'm not a comedy writer. As far as her not wanting to be in the public eye, thats a crock. She paid for her trial by selling home movies and photos to ABC and her family selling the rights to the actual trial. If anything, she would be the perfect one-liner punchline, if written correctly, to get that audience "Oooooooooooo...."

  15. The first thing that comes to mind is the old EPCOT attraction! But more seriously Horizons indicates a farpoint, a line where the sky meets the sea or land as far away as the vision is able to determine.

One thinks of 'Beyond the Blue horizon' to some fabled Shangri La, or the Event Horizon created by the gravitational force of a Black Hole. And what about the horizon dividing different planes of existence? Between dimensions in space and time, or between different levels of reality. Between the Worlds of the Living and the Dead.

Just what is expected to be extracted from beyond the horizon?

You bring up a lot of points, Dr. Jimmy. I just hope they Bring Me The Horizon....

    :)

  16. I think a better question is: Why three people?

Not who they are or what they've done, but why three?

It's been mentioned by Dr. Jimmy and myself that the usage of three fates is a rather common occurrence in religions.

If the clue is pointing us toward fate, could the usage of three be pointing to three icons?

Such as the Holy trinity? The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost? Zombie Jesus as a blackjack dealer? Hmm,

  17. Keep in mind that the original translation of rune means "mystery" which doesn't really give me any ideas but maybe they quite literally don't want us to know what the "rune room" is and then I found this

"3. ( mysteries) the secret rites of Greek and Roman pagan religion, or of any ancient or tribal religion, to which only initiates are admitted." which reminded me of Hades?

I was thinking a lot along these lines as well, especially considering all the talk of the afterlife with heaven, hell, purgatory and such. But then that line of thought always leads me back to LT making a comeback.

  18. So, after reading a lot of talk about death, fate, heaven, hell, and some great information from the Dr. and Cody and everyone, the afterlife leads me to think along the lines of the supernatural (LT stuff?!!) and the idea of fate... My idea of fate at least, is that there is nothing you can do to change fate. You make decisions, and your fate is based off of those decisions. Decisions like: gambling, crime, etc. Maybe something like "you commit the crime, your fate is jail time or even death (that just might be me wanting another Hellgate Prison though XD).

Everyones fate is death, hmm? So that means eventually, we must all come face to face with "Death". I mean if you think about it, there is only one thing that makes every single human being on the planet alike. Not religion, not race, not even bodily functions or birth (test-tubes, asthma, etc.). The innevitability of death is the only thing that every human being has in common.

Regardless if this has anything to do with truth in the HHN spec, that's some deep shit. :)

  19. This is a valid question, as it's a "defined" thing from the past.

A "Party Zone" is a zone that isn't specifically focused on scaring. It's more of a fun respite, with club lighting, dancing music and stilt-walkers/performers posing for pictures. The were fairly normal before 2005, when they suddenly stopped and (to my recollection) haven't returned since.

I remember those! I feel like the closest they've come to that recently is the freak show zone. I can't remember what year it was, but it wasn't focused on scares but the make-up and photo ops
