  1. I think we'll see him in some manner, but not necessarily as the main icon. I like the idea of doing underutilized/forgotten icons for 26-29 (Usher, Eddie, Chance, Crowe), then make HHN30 a huge year for the return of the Terra Queen (I want more than anything for them to bring back Terra Cruentus for 2020, since the story is that they come around every 15 years). I think having him make a cameo somewhere would be the best bet.

That's what I would love to see, but if they just make him the icon again, I wouldn't be that annoyed.

  2. Haven't seen the film yet, but I'm still wondering if Krampus would still be worth doing next year. It's not a major movie, and by September of next year, will anyone even remember it? Why spend the money for the rights to a movie that won't be a huge draw? Just my 2 cents on the matter. I suppose there's a chance it happens, but i'm not holding my breath. I'm still sold on FvJ and The Conjuring being the 2 highest promoted IPs for 2016. The 3rd headliner is up for grabs. Maybe something Evil Dead related; I'm not expecting TWD again at all.

  3. Definitely not the first time a topic like this has been created (hell I made one a few years back I believe lol), but my list has changed since then, so I'll bite:

(Note: it's impossible for me to make an ordered top 25, as there's just too many great houses, and it's all subjective, depending on how I'm remembering a house currently. So, with the exception of a top 3, which are their greatest achievements imo, the list is ordered by year, not favorites.)

    1. Nightmare on Elm Street (07)

    2. Monsters and Mayhem (15)

    3. An American Werewolf In London (13)

    The Skool (05)

    Screamhouse: Resurrection (06)

    PsychoScareapy: Maximum Madness (06)

People Under the Stairs: Under Construction (06)

Scary Tales: Once Upon a Nightmare (08)

    Dead Exposure (08)

    Silver Screams (09)

    Catacombs: Black Death Rising (10)

    Hades: Gates of Ruins (10)

    Orfange: Ashes to Ashes (10)

    Winter's Night (11)

    Nightingales: Blood Prey (11)

Nevermore: The Madness of Poe (11)

    The In-Between (11)

Saws N Steam: Into the Machine (11)

    Gothic (12)

    Cabin in the Woods (13)

    Evil Dead (13)

    Dollhouse of the Damned (14)

    Halloween (14)

    Freddy vs Jason (15)

    Body Collectors: Recollections (15)

    Favorite years of HHN:

1a. 2011 (Strongest house lineup by FAR, great zones, and whole ton of fun.)

1b. 2015 (I had the most fun of any year this year due to many, maaany visits, great new friends, and an overall just awesome event. Only reason it's not solely my favorite year is that I feel the house lineup for 2011 was stronger. Had AWiL made it's first appearance this year, and TWD was not a thing, this would be the clear winner.)

    3. 2006

    4. 2010

    5. 2013

    6. 2009

    7. 2007

    8. 2014

    9. 2008

    10. 2005* (Only putting 05 this low as it was my first year, I was 9, and I don't really remember it at all.)

    11. 2012 (A lot of the problems of 2012 were not A&D's fault, but it doesn't negate the fact that there were only 4 good-great houses[Gothic, Dead End, HoH, P&T], 2 bad houses [Alice Cooper and TWD], and one TERRIBLE house [fucking Silent Hill] imo. Couple that with the most unwatchable B&T of all time, lacking streets, down a house, and just an overall lack of HHN-esque presence, this year is the clear low point of HHN. All this considered, it was still fun, as it's HHN. It's always fun.)

  4. I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet,  but with the Conjuring and Insidious both being possible mazes this year, would they really have two paranormal like houses in the same year? If they were to choose do you think it would be Insidious or the Conjuring?

Insidious is not a possible maze this year. There's no new release coming out in 2016 for the franchise, so there would be no reason. If there's a fourth movie, that's the next time we'd see the IP, and even then I'm not so sure. The Conjuring has the biggest chance of all 2016 IPs, imo, so if that's on both coasts' lineups this year, I wouldn't be surprised.

  5. anyone have idea what it is?

No one will have any info THIS early, but it's safe to assume it's an original, imo. Mike posted on Twitter that they have the list of IPs they want to do gathered and will start doing meetings to make that list final soon, so it seems they're not ready to dive into making treatments for those IPs yet. He also mentioned that they're trying to get a little ahead on the design process (maybe to take more time on each house/event as a whole?). Both points have me believe that this is an original house he's talking about. Unless it's an IP Comcast already told them they HAVE to do, which I doubt.

  6. Can we just make HR Bloodngutz the icon of the entire event? 12 months in a year. 8 months = 8 holidays = 8 houses. 4 months = 4 holidays = 4 scare zones.

Up the quality of each considerably.

    One show.

    Roaming stuff.

Go down a house AND a show? LOLno

Scare Zones are tricky due to the Superstar Parade, not because they don't have the budget to make them bigger, imo. I had no problems with the zones this year outside of Die-In's location and cast size. Lack of props (noticeably in Screampunk and ICONS) is the only thing missing, and they still do what they can (movable props and stages in PS and ICONS, the giant Oz prop in screampunk). My wish is for them to stop the parade from Sept.-Nov., AKA the off season, because is it really THAT big of a draw? My guess is they use it to bring people back to the park as late as possible so they may end up eating dinner there/CityWalk, or maybe promote the characters to drive merch sales. Either way, I really wish they'd give it a break for HHN.

Going down in amount of offerings and capacity would be the stupidest thing they've ever done, regardless of how you think the quality of the event is right now. This year broke records in attendance, sales, and many areas of guest satisfaction. M&M, FvJ, and Body Collectors are some of their best work to date, and Insidious was a HUGE hit. The only houses that were reviewed negatively on the whole were RUN and TWD (which is gone, as far as I know). I think the quality of the houses and set design have done nothing but improve over the past 11 years I've attended. The only thing I think that needs to be upgraded is scare factor, and that definitely saw a boost over 24. Still needs some work, but they obviously tried to be scarier, and succeeded.

The (realistic) event that I want in 2016 is USF only, 9 houses, 5 original/4 IP split. Zones in Pro. Cen., main NY, Sting Alley, Hollywood Blvd., and Central Park, with hordes in the rest of the dead areas of the park like this year. 3 shows; B&T, show on the stage in Mel's area, and a new one in AA. I'd love to see them bring over the Jabawokeez, Not because I have even the slightest interest in seeing them at all, but because it was wildly popular with the demographic HHN attracts in Hollywood, and it would be a great people eater.

  7. The only Wednesday's left to add are in September, and I doubt they do that (though I'd LOVE it because they'd be beyond empty lol). I think 32 nights is perfectly acceptable. With the 9th house this year not being an exact repeat (I mean, this is assuming we even get a 9th house and it is in fact NOT a repeat), crowds will be spread out even better than this year, and yes while the streets will be flooded, wait times and crowding should feel better, imo. What they should do is add a 3rd worthwhile show in Animal Actors next year rather than add a 10th house (which I was never expecting anyway for budgeting/spacing reasons). Get people off the streets and out of lines, and that will help even more. Still can't think of a reason not to hire HHN-only actors for Horror Makeup Show and open that too, but idk.

  8. (None of this discussion is really relevant to General Information).

It's highly unlikely HHN will extend for an extra weekend into November for one simple reason: Thanksgiving. That is a locked in day that kicks off all of their Christmas stuff. The shear amount of stuff they do, plus the amount of bleed-over with technicians and performers, requires that four week buffer for rehearsals, strike/install, etc.

Hollywood does Christmas stuff, but nowhere near the scale of Orlando. They don't have Grinchmas. They don't have Macy*s. Orlando basically has to stop HHN when they do.

Hollywood has Grinchmas. They do their production outside with a tree lighting too. While yes, Orlando's Christmas celebrations are much grander, Hollywood does it too.

Also, I don't see the need to extend to Nov. 4th and 5th. Assuming they get smart and finally add Sunday to opening weekend, we'll have 32 nights next year, which is even more than this year, without needing to extend to November.

  9. Thank you for:

-Making an event you guys are as passionate about as I am. No matter anyone's personal opinions on specific content, we're all here because we love this event, and you all clearly do too, and as the commercialization of this world continues, that passion is being overruled by greed and power. That's not something A&D has succumbed to, even in Comcast has, so for that that I thank you for always.

But for this year's event specifically:

-Monsters and Mayhem. Top 5 house of all time for me (05-15).

-Freddy vs Jason. NoES 07 will forever be my favorite house of all time due to the experience I had. I waited 8 years to see Freddy back at the event, and after what I felt was a weak AvP house in 2014, I was nervous going in with my unrealistic expectations. On EP Night, I came out fucking GIDDY. That house made me so happy, and my final run for all houses in 2015 was this one and it was a STRONG one. You guys nailed this house.

-Body Collectors. My first BC house as more than a casual fan (saw 08's as a kid). Gorgeous, surreal, scary, and all around a fun time. Passion was very much noticed in this one.

-Insidious. Great shot at a paranormal maze. The pitch black room with the moving walls is one of the most unnerving scenes I've ever seen in a house. Excellent scares in the back half of this one.

-Bringing back a cohesive theme with original aspects, whether it was just an anniversary theme or not. Makes me hopeful for the future.

-CHANCE. Not in a perverted way, but in a I REALLY like the character way.

  10. Universal should just get rid of TWD as a maze & add this...

    Maybe replace ET with this...

    *ahem*

    NO.

How about just no more TWD?

This is the first year I'm close to certain about TWD's demise. There's just too much evidence this year (Very low house ratings, Comcast not forcing it this year until Hollywood vouched for it, etc), plus it honestly is fading in popularity as far as HHN goes. SO many people are tired of seeing it, not just die hards. Hell, I know people who've only been 1 of the past 4 years who think it's stupid it keeps coming back. Yes, there are PLENTY who love TWD as a show, but as virtually anyone who went this year what their 3 favorite houses were, and not only will 1-2 of them not even be an IP, but there's a 90% chance none of them are TWD. Hell, the graffiti infested, last minute switched-over house was rated higher than TWD.

  11. Ragnorak: Gods of the Norse (spiritual sequel to Hades)

Y.E.S. Mythology is a wonderful concept for a house, Hades was fucking AWESOME, and I just really love the word Ragnarok and would love to see it as the name of a house.

    As for what I want?

    Nightingales: Bloodshed Warfare

    Catacombs 2

    Scary Tales 4

ScreamHouse: Reconstructed (continuing with a word starting with "re" as the subtitle. Story is the house was burned down, but The Caretaker's followers rebuilt it in honor of The Caretaker who, along with Sindy, has returned. Very similar to the original, with some enhancements.)

Alice in Wonderland: Descend Into Madness (Not necessarily this year, but I would love for them to revisit the topic of Alice in a non-3D setting. I loved Asylum this year, but I would really like to see a more serious, much scarier house, as I think the source material's perfect for it.)

    Ghost Town 2

    Cold(er) Blind(er) Terror(er) ()

Terror Mines: Evil Underground (I want a return to the concept of the hard hats as a light source. They could use blacklight and other effects to make some really unique instances in this house)

The Skoolhouse (Only house I remember from 05, and I really loved it. Orfanage featured some of the same concept and was also amazing.)

  12. To add to this, I have it on good authority that all (or most) of the icons were supposed to be in the house in the beginning.  Then they went through and said there's not enough Jacks so they changed all (most) of the icons to Jack.

Sounds very Marketing-like, honestly. Let's call it Jack Presents to get people to want to do it, then plaster him all over the place instead of giving everyone they're time to shine. This house is in my top 5 of all time, but if it was done the way it was originally planned, I can see it being my #1 without a shadow of doubt.

  13.

I would like to see this line up:

    The Shining

Alfred Hitchcock Presents (a collection of his best movie moments)

The Conjuring  (since it seems like everyone expects it.)

    Nightingales sequel

    Catacombs sequel

    Universal Monsters

    Urban Legends

    3 new orginals

    1. Won't happen until A. King changes his mind (they've tried several times, he doesn't want his work featured in a haunted house for whatever reason. Disappointing, but is totally his call, as it's his properties), or B. He dies and the new rights holders allow it. I don't anticipate either scenario happening ever, honestly.

    2. It's my understanding that this was thought of at one point, it's a possibility.

    3. Murdy flat out hinted that they're at the very least discussing the possibility. I think it's VERY likely (and in Tent 2. Calling it.)

    4. I think it's time this happens. They designed the 2011 characters to be repeatable, and it's been 5 years. Bring it on!

    5. Doubtful, but a lot of us seem to want it, so maybe they'll listen?

    6. They've done them enough, imo. 3 of em got their own house in 09, HoH from 2012, Die In zone, and the scenes in M&M. I say give them a rest for a few years, and then bring them all back in a house that does the UCM movies better justice than the black and white concept of HoH.

    7. This is another one I speculated on happening. I feel it's possible, but only if they find a strong enough legend. Chupacabra?

8.-10.I'd love this. My guess is 5 original and 4-5 IP (depending on if we get the 10th house), so I doubt we see this many originals if 2 or more of the above sequels come to fruition.

  14. My biggest (nonrealistic) wish is for them to stop running the Superstar Parade from Sept.-Nov. in order for us to have proper scare zones again. Something we haven't seen since 2011. Yes, we still get props and sets, but when's the last time we got something like 20 Years of Fear? Or Asylum in  Wonderland? Or fucking ROBOSAURUS???

The parade can't be THAT big of a thing. The only things I can see being the main purpose of the parade is the M&G they do with the floats in front of Mel's, which they can still do with proper zones, just don't put one in Mel's. And also to drive merch sales. It'd be nice to have a major set design in Hollywood and New York again. But if the choice for budget is either big, expansive zones, or 9-10 all new houses, I'm absolutely picking the houses.

  15. My wishful thinking for Hollywood's event:

I think we can say goodbye to TWD. It's rumored the only reason it was done again is because Hollywood's team wanted it, not because Comcast forced it on us. TWD was well received for you guys, but in Orlando it was total crap and at the bottom 2 of guest satisfaction surveys. Couple that with no one on the team wanting to do the IP, among other things, and it just seems like TWD is finally done. I doubt you guys get it if we don't.

AHS just won't happen. Forget about the fact that the show is decreasing in popularity every season. They've tried several times (in Orlando at least) to use the IP but can never work out the details with Fox. Rumors point to Fox wanting more sexually explicit content in the house than what Uni's willing to do, and they can never reach an agreement.

But for what I think WILL happen:

-Freddy vs Jason (VERY well received in Orlando, people are begging for it, would bring in a ton of people. This is a no brainer to me.)

-The Conjuring (obvious reasons are obvious. This will be shared with Orlando.)

-The Purge (Same as Conjuring, will also be shared. The Purge in Orlando was originally Scream, but at the last minute they sprayed graffiti everywhere and covered a bunch of shit with black garbage bags etc. Set wise, worst house I've ever seen, and overall the house was pretty bad. But the GP LOVED it, and next year is the next installment. I see it being shared.)

-Army of Darkness (If Ash does well, I can see this being shared as well, as I think both directors are big ED fans)

    -Current IP

    -Current IP

-Either an original or an older IP

Show: Jabawokeez seems to be a hit with most people, so I anticipate another dance-style show (not them).

  16. Because even if it didn't require massive shifts in logistics backstage, the experience wouldn't be as fantastic as everyone hopes.

This is why I keep saying IF there's no conceivable way to keep it USF only, and I believe there is. Has anyone here been to Howl O Scream, where houses are LITERALLY 15-20 min walks away from each other? Does anyone know how much walking you would have to do to go from tent 2 by MiB to Jurassic Park?? NO THANKS

I was apparently mistaken on MiB overflow being unusable, so let's throw that back in the mix. Assuming KidZone's untouchable, use Hollywood Blvd for Parade building, have both tents enter from MiB, and there you go. Hell, throw 2 houses in SS21 and call it a 10 house year. If they don't do 2 parks, they'll definitely have the budget for it, so why not? Cut an IP to save some budget, don't do a megahouse, and don't build an insanely expensive house like AvP or AWiL and 10 houses is easy.

    And about Scream...imagine this discussion:

"Alright gang, what are some popular IPs we can feature at HHN26? The Purge did really well, The Conjuring has a se-"

"OOH How about we try Scream again??? Sure, they royally fucked us over this year, made us waste a LOT of money, and caused way more turmoil and stress than necessary, but that's totally the past! That's not gonna happen again! What do you say? What could possibly go wrong?"

There's no way in hell they try Scream again. I'm afraid that's something we're just gonna have to accept.

  17. There is no conceivable way to do a house in MiB based on just where they would put the queue for it and MiB during the day. Let's assume they start construction in July, which is later than they ever start. It's still the middle of summer, and MiB still gets up to 60 min waits on busy days due to crowds/ being right next to Diagon. Add in the fact that the park continues to grow in popularity, Twister and Disaster are lost capacity, and KONG/ nuHulk will be pulling people in, and you're gonna see a problem with not having most of the queue for MiB. Then for HHN, where could they possibly put a queue/entrance? I mean there's very limited backstage area by it for a queue, but I just don't see it happening.

However, if there's no conceivable way to control 9 houses plus their queues with all the construction going on, then 2 parks is actually a necessity this time around. 4 SSs, both tents, and parade building for houses. Then 2 SSs on the IoA side, and Poseidon as a 10th house. Have ONLY Hogsmeade, LC and Seuss (for SS entrances) open. Leave the rest of the park open for daytime guests till 7. After 7, possibly open JP and Kong for HHN guests.  B&T in FFL, new show in Sinbad, Horror Makeup Show open, and possibly a show in Animal Actors, if it's still there. They just won't do the entirety of both parks, as that's an absurd amount of walking/ security/ TMs/etc. etc. But having mostly USF plus half of IoA with Hogwarts Express open could work.

There's gonna be a LOT of logistics to work out this year. And very possibly a lot of walking for us. Very exciting to be going into a speculation year when there's legitimate reasoning to believe there's gonna be a major change to the event layout for the first time in 10 years!

  18. Based on what my tour guide said, the long space at the end of the house leading out was to trick people going through who thought after they left the ss that the house would be over. That way the two chainsaws would surprise guests more.

Oooor the house wasn't finished when the Scream rights fell through and they cut the house short and used the budget for the remaining few scenes to go turn Scream into Purge

That's what I was told at least. A Nevermore (Tell Tale Heart specifically) and Catacombs scene were apparently both planned.

  19. The one thing about this house that should've been fixed from 2013 was the bar and graveyard/moors scenes. I understand why there were no actors, but  a complete minute passes in this house before you see an actor, and for most people, that's a buzzkill. Makes the house start off weak. And there were plenty of spots for great scares.
