  1. A "megahouse", an added zone, 6 IPs, 9 houses total, and 2 (don't see why this would change) shows? Seems the event received a decent budget boost. And also some things make a lot more sense now.

There's going to be the inevitable bitching about returning IPs, but I've gotta say this year has one of the strongest IP lineups of HHN history, imo. The only wasted spot I think is TWD, because I firmly believe that it's just not as popular as it used to be when it comes to HHN. Krampus is something a lot of us want, so I'll give it a pass on calling it a wasted spot, even though it's obviously the least popular of the 6. If they deliver on these houses, I think it'll make up for possibly missing the "epic" feel of the 25th anniversary. But man is this year going to be packed...

I've no idea what house could be the megahouse. I would assume an original, and not in tent 1 (obvi). I don't expect it to be the requel (which has been said many times folks, look back and you'll find it), so it must be the third that I know nothing about, and really hope to keep it that way. I'm very interested in hearing about the zones and (HOPEFULLY) the second show.

    This would be glorious.

Could it also refer to Bloody Mary?

The fact that they didn't even have Dr. Mary Agana in Icons last year is reason enough for me to believe Uni wants nothing to do with her again. Besides, leaving her as a one time thing makes all the more special, much like most of the

original houses people want sequels for (Gothic, anything 2011 outside Nightingales, etc).

As someone who never has the money to get fast passes, this is probably going to be the house to skip this year due to lines being outrageously long. It will probably be just like FvJ was last year, which is a shame since I would really like to visit this house.

Side note; if there's to be a Krampus house this year it would make the disappointment over not going into this house almost disappear completely

This is sorta off topic, but you shouldn't expect to skip out on what may be one of the best houses in any given year due to the lines. If you check here before your trip, plenty will be able to help figure out an order to hit the houses that alleviates waits and ensures you see it all. It is 100% possible to see everything in one night, even on sold out nights. I know this from experience.

On topic: this is one of my most anticipated IPs this year. The issue with most of the scary scenes being in one bedroom has been addressed many times, but it seems the guys and gals at A&D have taken some creativity and added some different aspects to the house to keep it from being stale. I'm very curious to see where this one goes, has potential to be strong, or totally flop.

Screw it, I've had fun with these in the past...

    House list.

    The announced

The announced: Second coming (Tent 2)
    The unannounced: The return (Parade)
    The unannounced: The expected
    The unannounced: The returning
    The unannounced: The requeling
The unannounced: Claustrophic jewel (Tent 1)
    The unknown
    Shall not be named

You could add SS to the first announced, as we know it's going there.

My vague guesses: 1st 5 IP, next 3 original, last one IP. Won't give specific IP guesses, though I'm fairly confident I could guess each hint (mostly) accurately.

What I do find interesting is construction. Have they started this much construction this early on before? I mean I guess we are only 4 months away but it still just seems early. Makes me wonder what they have up their sleeve. Are they getting the "easy" houses knocked out quickly so they can move on to new house locations that could prove to be hard to work through? Or, could we be getting a 10th house this year requiring them to start early?

Interested to see if we get an announcement tomorrow on Friday the 13th. I doubt it since it would break from the schedule I have laid out in my head but you never know. All I really want at this point is for tickets to go on sale though! Need to make sure Rush of Fear is still a thing with Express Pass option.

Definitely not 10 houses this year, if not just for the fact that it would be very hard logistically right now with the construction. But this is definitely the earliest they've ever started. I like to believe they're starting earlier so they can have more time to train the actors to scare and (more likely) about safety around douchebag guests.

Tickets *should* go on sale by the end of the month, that seems to be the normal time period for them.

Well, there is a public list which I remember having Lovecraft, Hitchcock, and Krampus on it. I don't remember the rest of it and can't find any blood gas that DID post it. Most of it was fairly safe spec though, though there was no evidence supporting any of it.

That said, I'm confident I know 89% of the houses this year. It's a strong line-up, with legit surprises and disappointments to keep the cynic in me satisfied.

The public list was posted by Chad on Rumors and was:

*American Horror Story (Which makes the list BS right there.)

*Hitchcock (Confirmed to be false by Mike himself. Outright said this wasn't happening after the fiasco on Twitter.)

*Texas Chain Saw (Only truthful one so far)

*Lovecraft (The concept is there, but I don't expect it.)

    *Ash vs. Evil Dead (Possible)

*The Walking Dead (A little more than possible)

*Purge (Also possible, but not necessarily as a house.)

*Krampus (Seems to be widely accepted as happening, but I'll wait for an announcement.)

This year is very different than the last 3-4. Very secretive, seemingly very daring, everything's starting early, etc. I embrace the change of pace. It's refreshing after knowing everything down to the streets by April last year. I've heard some very interesting options, and some obvious ones as far as IPs go, but I can't be confident in any of them, really. Announcement season should actually be exciting this time!

I've seen houses effectively knocked out of the running because of a two hour shutdown (Hades) or because of a mass exodus of scareactors (Saw).

They can also be undeservedly knocked out by the actors playing along with guests a la Catacombs. Had that not happened, even without the 2 hour shutdown, Hades still wouldn't have won. Lol (Personally either could've taken the prize for me. Even Orfanage was better than HAVOC)

So much nostalgia this year... I wonder who will escort? us through all of it?

All I ask for is the Universal Palace Theater original that Silver Screams should've been in 09. If they bring him back and do AND-I 4.0, I will be severely disappointed. I'd rather no house for him at all if it's the only option. But if we get a UPT original, the 2 houses announced, and some other rumored houses, I will be VERY excited for this year. I know it won't feel as epic as last year's anniversary, but I think there's potential for a very strong house lineup this year.

What did you think of that show? I thought it was the worst B&T since I started attending (HHN 20). I didn't like how they started basically forcing people to fill in seats either. One other change that has occurred over the past couple years is they no longer send the actors into the audience during the finale.

What do you mean by force people to fill in seats? Also, they still send the actors up the stairs and into the crowd during the finale. They did it during "Shut Up and Dance" last year.

^Murdy isn't counting TWD. Why wrote treatment for a house that is almost done? It's not going to be an overlay but it's own separate attraction.

I feel like its a huge mistake on Murdy's part to reveal the number of treatment pages he's worked on if he wants to keep the house count under wraps.

Excluding TWD, we are getting at least six for sure, but I feel like we're going back up to seven.

If there was a maze with a 184 page treatment, Murdy would've made a big deal about it and just not mention one of the other 5, I assume. So I think it's safe to say there will be 7 mazes, on top of TWD. This could mean either A. the event is big enough to handle 7 mazes plus a show, or B. they're back to no shows.

Would also fit with the Sprung 2 Facade in recent years all being a "normal" house.

Would be hysterical if it also turns out to be the scariest house of the year according to the GP, AGAIN. (Although last year they were wrong:rolleyes:)

  12. This house will be located within a Sprung Tent, according to Mike on Twitter. My guess is Sprung 2, with a Leatherface with the only real chainsaw in the house located outside the tent. Just like Darth Maul demon last year and Mike Myers the year before that. Also confirms this house will feature all fake saws, as you can't use actual ones in a closed environment for health reasons. That diminishes my excitement a little tbh, but I'm still excited to see it.

Twice. It was in the original All Nite Die-In and then the house in '07. It definitely hasn't been "done to death".

I'm excited about reentering the realm of Leatherface.

It's been 9 years, so a solid 80% of the attendees this year have never seen a TCM maze. It's based off the original, so technically never done. And it's being done by a largely different creative team from 9 years ago.

I can't fathom why someone would think this IP is a tired out one at Universal, especially during a year that may end up having 2 IPs from just last year. If the complaint it chainsaw overload, especially after last year, then I could understand. But this should turn out as well as Halloween and FvJ. I'm very excited.

We know Killer Klowns is on his bucket list, and Lovecraft has been the works for nearly a decade. I'm also fairly confident he's a fan on 90s gorey-ghost horror (Ghost Ship/Thirteen Ghosts type stuff).

And why else would he be in Vegas? Maybe he just wanted to take a vacation?

He's gone at least twice, maybe three times so far this year, and this last time he brought Patrick Braillard with him. But everyone's been assuming P&T, and that it will be a house. However, I believe the reason they're making trips over there is to work out a show for the event. They lost Beetlejuice's stage, and there's no real reason to bring back Jack's show or stage. Solution? Magic show in AA. But not Brushwood again. Something bigger. Could very well be P&T.

If TCM happens and goes in the MIB queue, waits will be even worse than Insidious

Insidious and Halloween had god awful waittimes due to word of mouth (false WoM for Insidious, imo) and because Tent 2 is the only house remotely close to B&T. Realistically, a house in MiB would enter on the Diagon side of the FFL theater. So half the crowd would shuffle into TCM, and the other half would go to Tent 2. It would actually help the waittime situation over there, and now every house location would have at least one other house right next door to take the pressure off wait times. Honestly would help even out wait times across the board.

You're right. My mistake. Google shows this one, too:

    http://www.hhnlegacy.com/uploads/6/9/8/5/6985850/9198100_orig.jpg

I can't see how it'd fit there. Where exactly is it?

The house most likely would enter on the Diagon side of FFL. Put the queue in backstage areas, and the extended queue of MiB is a lot bigger than it looks in that picture. The 2 squares and the trees immediately to their left is enough room for a close quarters, tent sized house. It might be slightly shorter than the recent tent houses (they're getting really great at using those facilities to their full potential), but A house would fit there fine.

My only issue with that is where will the line for MiB go? They use the extended queue near daily over the summer while they're constructing the house. Where would they put all those people?

They also had a better option in Shrek last year. This year, MIB is the best option and they've evidently made it work. It's just what I've been told, but as of last month they were still finalizing the last location. My guess is that it was locked in in the last couple of weeks.

Then if TCM is really a house this year, I'm 90% sure this is where it's going.

Where would the HHN house be in the MIB queue?

Where is there room inside the building? Isn't the ride there?

That picture is of the Shrek building, as is exactly the plan they used for Asylum last year, except with the queue wrapping around the building and starting in between Mel's and Transformers.

A fourth queue for the SSs isn't all that hard, even with the lack of space behind Twister (which will NOT be usable by October, no matter the state of the facade. They still won't be allowed to have guests that close to the construction for insurance reasons, I would presume). Just rework the Rockit plaza to hold 2 queues and give them room to expand longer on their way to their respective SSs and there you go.

Eh... I'm actually all for straight repeats... With a caveat that it's:

Granted, if they started repeating "classic" houses that are more than 10 years old, that would actually be amazing.

This. Bring back a house from 05 or earlier. It's new to 90% of attendees, and old enough to be completely nostalgic and not boring for vets. Also would be easier than designing a completely new house, especially since many props are already in storage. Win-win-win.

I am not sure if this is the correct way to ask this so I apologize in advance if it isn't. I looked through all the topics and couldn't find a related one. I am looking for a shirt from this year preferably a medium or a large. So far I have 1997-present with the exclusion of 2002.

Idk if there's any listings at the moment, but eBay's a great place to check. Lots of past shirts pop up all the time.

Chad's list wasn't new, for what it's worth. I was actually posted here back in January. And from my discussions with people who normally share information, I'd expect stuff to stay pretty tight-lipped. Even the Western rumor has nothing backing it aside from talk.

And I still see TWD happening.

All 8 houses on that list are just rumors and concepts of the past few years, plus a few obvious, timely ones. So yeah, nothing new.

I really with AHS' and TWD's popularity/rights issues were reversed. If we had to get stuck with a TV show every year, AHS was PERFECT. 100% new environments every season, new characters, totally new mazes every year. Rather than different forest, different store, etc. from TWD every year.

Actual information doesn't tend to get released until June or July, but even that is a recent development. It use to be teasers started that time period, but nothing was revealed until end of August. There's still time.

Last year was different because the house list leaked in February. And because it was the 25th year it spread like wildfire. This year, everyone is playing the cards extremely close. Which is more like it was before. I've already given the most helpful info I know.

If everyone stays tight lipped (Which I'm hoping for/expecting for a change), then I think we can expect a lot of false rumors popping up over the next few months, i.e. that list Chad posted on HHNRumors.

Hollywood announced a year-round TWD Maze on Sunday. I see 2 options for the future of TWD with UOR due to this: 1. Since Uni will own the rights to TWD until that attraction inevitably bites the bullet, say 4 or 5 years from now, we can expect a TWD house until then. Or 2. They worked out a deal where Hollywood will continue to use TWD, but UOR's A&D will no longer be forced to use the property. #1's more likely, but I'm pulling for #2 of course. I just really have a feeling TWD isn't coming back, at least for this year.

  21. John Murdy will be announcing a brand new attraction for USH at WonderCon, per "HorrorNightsUpdaters" on Twitter.

I'm willing to bet the rumored year round TWD attraction is not just a rumor.

Now my question is, will they claim this to be the seventh house, and open it with HHN, or will they do the smart thing and bill this as an EXTRA experience, claiming 8 houses? My money's on the first guess.

    Just a few thoughts...

    1. Someone above mentioned a possible Penn & Teller return. How was their house from HHN 22 received overall by the public? Personally, I wasn't really that impressed by it. I'd prefer they not return (using up a potential house slot), but assuming they did, would it be an extension of the Newkd Vegas theme or something else entirely? Is there any way they could be brought in to put on their show at HHN?

    2. I really have to wonder if they have it in them to bring back TWD again. I think at this point, even some casual fans are getting tired of seeing it return year after year. I'm a huge TWD fan, but after walking through last year's house and seeing a zombie pretty much kicking a dead horse, I agree that enough is pretty much enough. I guess the only problem I see (from Universal's point of view) is that there really aren't many other ip's they could bring in that could fill the wow factor of TWD. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this shakes out.

    3. If they are going to bring in ips (which is pretty much guaranteed at this point), at least Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) is one I definitely wouldn't mind seeing. I didn't see the house from HHN 17, but I'd assume that they theoretically could put together a house that would be even better now.

    4. I do have a slight concern about them cutting back the number of houses to 8 (or less) again. Obviously one of the biggest complaints about the event is the long lines for the houses. If the number of guests increases again this year (or even stays the same) and there is a whole lines worth of people added throughout the park, it will be even more crowded. I found that last year especially a few of the scare zones were basically lost in the masses of people at points.

    5. Personally I'd like to see a house kinda like how the movie Trick 'r Treat plays out. A story that plays out on Halloween night with various classic (or new) creatures that come out on prey on humans in a variety of ways.

    6. I really hope they continue to offer the Rush of Fear pass.

    1. I don't believe that rumor to be anything but wishful thinking. It honestly came out of nowhere.

    2. Enough's been said on TWD. We just have to wait and see if it pops up this year.

    4. I do not anticipate losing a house. DEFINITELY not losing 2 houses.

    5. TrT has been begged for for years over in Hollywood, and it seems a sequel is finally happening next year, which is when Murdy says he'll do it. If it happens, there's a chance it will be shared. Not much hope for it this year though, imo.

    1 minute ago, Legacy said:

    1. I spoke with a HHN coordinator specifically about Penn and Teller when I saw this rumor. Turns out, Nuked Vegas was received fairly well by the general population. More importantly, A&D loved working with them.

    2. Regarding TWD, it's not really A&D's decision on if they're getting burnt out on it (which they are). TWD is still huge, it's still tied (correlated or not) to HHN's audience explosion, and management probably has no problem bringing it back for that reason. HHN had a zombie house EVERY YEAR. The only difference is now its an IP. FearTWD may be something A&D would enjoy because they can go a slightly different route.

    5. Trick 'r Treat would be fun, but we may not see it until the sequel. If Krampus happens, then TrT has a better shot in the future since it's the same director. That said, I feel the same about Krampus as I did Crimson Peak at this time last year... Which was not confident it was coming at all.

    1...........Hmmm.

    2. They were tired of it in 2013. Now they're just completely sick of it, and it's starting to show in the houses. Last year's wasn't reviewed well at all, and was nowhere near the most popular house (FvJ, Insidious, and Purge were all way more popular). I really think TWD is gone. But I won't be surprised to be proven wrong.

    5. I don't completely anticipate Krampus either. Yeah, Murdy wants to work with the director and it's a Uni IP, but one that will be irrelevant in September. Ot made $50 mil in December, and isn't some kind of cult classic. I don't see a reason to do it at all.
