  1. Three years of marketing classes taught me that you should always stay true to what made you popular in the first place, because that's what got your success and that's what people want. Reinvent yourself and keep things fresh but also be smart so you can make money. A WD house is smart. This? This isn't fresh. This isn't smart. This isn't reinventing anything. This is just dumb. Other events know what they're doing. HoS with the ALONE house (I think the name has been changed?) and even Knotts has their own similar experience.. People are looking for thrills, not live reenactments of what they've already seen on television.

With all due respect, I hope you passed that class because Universal is doing the correct thing business wise by doing the exact opposite of what you posted. Hmm.. give the fans (a very small percent of the attendance and income) what they want or build on what caused the event to sell out for the first time in years? They made the obvious choice in not only bringing back Walking Dead but by expanding on it. You say people are looking for thrills, but comparing Howl O Scream's attendance to HHN's last year proves otherwise. I'm sorry that you don't like the theme, and that is perfectly fine, but trying to argue against the business aspect is beyond silly.

  2. I really like the sounds of this:

At Universal Orlando, guests will enter the haunted house in Woodbury and head through the Prison for a "survivor's experience," Timon says. The theme park also decided that its "scare zones," the areas of the park where employees dressed up as "scaracters" will terrorize Halloween Horror Nights attendees, will be dedicated entirely to recreating iconic moments from "The Walking Dead" Season 1 and 2. The maze itself will feature some different scenes from the ones used at Hollywood, including the zombie gladiator arena from Season 3's midseason finale.

  3. NOW IM SERIOUSLY PISSED OFF GOD DAM IT! What really pisses me off is that this is just a big commercial for Season 4. Why not use ED or something else instead. Reused costumes everywhere. Now we better have a 7th maze.

And an Evil Dead based Terror Tram wouldn't also be a commercial how?

  4. This house will be very good but nobody will ever admit to it. The prison is going to be intense and the settings they will use will help set up some really great scares. I thought the "problem" with the house last year was that the settings from season one and two just weren't house material.

What is the speculation of exactly where this house will be in the park?

    Parade building.

  5. Wow, lots of complaining before a single set piece even appears in the park, let alone the gates actually open..

I for one can't wait to see the tank, Herschel's barn, highway of cars, etc. out in the park. Sign me up as the one guy who will enjoy this.

Also, in response to the "lack of originality/icon/backstory/creative team doesnt care about the fans" stuff that is on here occasionally and on Facebook alot right now: Everyone hated Lady Luck and many hated Fear. Maybe creative does listen to you, heard the backlash of these two icons/backstorys, and figured "why bother?".

  6. I know it was technically a 2012 movie, I think a Cabin in the Woods theme/storyline would work really well for Bill and Ted. You can have the set be well.. a cabin in the woods and have the pop culture characters summoned by key words or by an object being touched. It could be a similar concept to 2008 with the crates around the stage. You can even have the NSA playing the part of the "director" in the movie.

First order of the haunt season was just delivered. The lighting is bad and of course I Instagram filtered it, but I promise you the head on the left looks so much worse in person.. the good kind of worse.

  8. Crossover opens at 5:30 and you get into the event before the main gate opens. Last year I did four houses at my own pace before I even ran into a group ahead of me. For us folks who don't live near the parks, IOA crossover is by far the better option. No waiting around for an hour and a half.

I was wondering if the Springfield area is done ,if they would use duff beer gardens as a holding area?

    Thoughts?

They plan on having Springfield open with Transformers, so it's a possibility. Might as well have your new alcohol location used when people do the majority of their drinking.

  9. Stay and scream holding areas? No thank you. I always suggest people use the IOA crossover (located next to the Seuss bathrooms) instead. They still let you in earlier than the main gate and you don't have to sit in a holding pen. Each year I've hopped off of Dragons or Hulk and walked right into HHN.

If you are concerned with security, they do check you with metal detectors before you head to the ticket kiosks near Rockit.

  10. I really hope the Harry Potter expansion is used for the event this year it would add a great backdrop!

Here's a picture from twitter of what it will look like. This is just a depiction, not official.

The facades in the rendering could very well be finished by then, considering that most of the steel is up now and there is even roofing on one of the structures. I still don't see them moving the construction walls back and exposing them like they did with the Simpsons for HHN because the rest of the actual land itself won't be as close to being finished.

  11. But the concern that the myth isn't as popular in Florida could certainly hurt La Llorona's chances.

When you consider that the majority of the guests visiting the event don't know the storylines to the original houses every year, it doesn't matter. Sure, its a better experience if you know the story beforehand, but how many people knew the story to Dead End or Gothic last year? Or Forsaken or Winter's Night the year before?

  12. So there's that new Trickster hint that not many people were talking about.

"One of the scenes in this maze was inspired by something we had to do in elementary school when I was a kid. They don't do it anymore....??"

Interesting that he specified elementary school and just that one of the scenes was inspired by it.

How many forum members are Murdy's age? Any guesses? How long ago did they stop doing that duck and cover thing?

Group prayer? He has said that it involves some kind of ritual and made him think of a holiday tradition.

Chalk boards? Could be dust/clouds/fog. Screeching sounds?

Getting smacked with a ruler? Actually that's still allowed in a few states so...hmm.

I think you're on the right track here, my guess is still some sort of spirit ritual theme. I wouldn't look too far into the whole school concept, though. It may be a forbidden thing for haunted attractions to use school settings for a while with all of the violence that has been going on over the past year. Last thing the company wants is negative press, especially after the whole Mitt Romney rap incident in Orlando last year.
