  1. Ok.. so I've never seen this show. I have only watched Evil Dead 1 & 2 (YEARS ago). I've never seen Army of Darkness. How many seasons are there? Can I get this on Netflix? Do I need to watch. Educate me, O Young Ones.
  2. Nailed it! LOL!! HAHAHAHAH!!! Literally LOL
  3. Oh THAT SUCKS! At least I only have to wait until 10am... because I am assuming the 11am is Florida time?
  4. Oh thanks for making it worse, Dan.
  5. You know things suck when the HHN27 Spec thread drops off the "recently viewed" list on the forum. <sigh> We better get the whole goddam thing next Wednesday.
  6. I was pissed about the missing Thursday as well. This is traditionally one of the weekends we attend every year, but we always have to leave on Sunday. Since we get no Thursday this year, we are staying until Monday which means I have to burn another vacation day to do it. I still don't know WHY they eliminated that Thursday. As for HOS - I didn't even realize their calendar was so light. We usually plan our HOS night on a Saturday mid-October when HHN is unbearably crowded. Plus, I don't buy a pass with Saturday in it because the weekends we go, the Saturdays are included... except the one in the middle where we do HOS. Maybe you should consider renting a condo, Oyster, and staying a little longer if you can next year. Work it for two weekends and save a TON of money by renting a condo. Just a thought.
  7. Critical.... I AGREE. In fact, my wife and my best friend also hated it. The three of us have been huge horror fans for probably longer than a lot of you have been alive, and NONE of us could figure out the attraction, buzz or reviews for that movie. We walked out of it saying over and over, "I don't get it.. I .. I just didn't like it AT ALL." I've had a secret "Sucks" award for that movie ever since. On another note: So much for the theory that we'd get an announcement during Comic Con. Lame, Universal.
  8. Yes, yes it was. We were pleasantly surprised as we are always skeptical with any "horror" movie these days.
  9. Oh, I don't think that's true at all. The actual good ones have pretty high scores actually - guaranteed fresh, even. Some of the recents: Split 75% Get Out 99% The Conjuring 86% Don't Breathe 87% Kong: Skull Island 76% The Cabin in the Woods 92% If you even look at some old school ones - same result: Halloween 93% (the scores get bad as the sequels pile up - AS IT SHOULD) The Exorcist 86% The Omen 86% Then there is the garbage: The Never ending sequels Saw VI 36% Nightmare on Elm Street 5 33% Friday the 13th Part 8 8% Garbage from the Start The Devil Inside 6% The Forest 10% The Boy 27% Blair Witch 35% Rotten Tomatoes is my friend.
  10. Frankly RT SHOULD be rough on horror movies because so many of them SUCK. I don't want to watch a horror movie just because it's a horror movie. Give me something new, something interesting, something scary. Don't give me a half-assed, crappily-acted, horrendously-written, time-waster.
  11. Hmm. While I only watched the first 2 Saw movies because that's my average limit on sequels, this looks somewhat interesting. However, I'm still going to wait for Rotten Tomatoes score. AND, it comes out at the end of the event? Sucks.
  12. Omg! LOL!! "Stop it! Stop it now!"" .... "why are you making me go first??!!" "I'm not! I'm protecting you!" Classic
  13. I love verbose swearing This one is my favorite - it's what really got this going. I am still laughing so hard.. the tears.. OMG! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXZ6K21wvZM
  14. I cry with laughter watching that guy go through the houses. It NEVER gets old. In fact.. I think I am going to YouTube that right now!
  15. I had to chime in here.. don't get me wrong - HHN is still my favorite event of the year even though we have some AWESOME haunts in Chicago we do as well. I am a loyal HHN until I die, probably. That being said, HOS is worth doing as well. I wasn't sure about it until someone here insisted we give it a try. We had SO MUCH FUN that it is now part of our yearly travels. Granted, we go one night, and the rest of our time is at HHN, but it's something we look forward to. Their VIP ticket is awesome. Since we only do the one night, we do it VIP. This includes our own private guide for just our group ALL NIGHT, front of the line (including going ahead of whatever express pass line they have) - and this front of the line is unlimited for houses and rides, dinner is included as well as front tables for their show. We also get free drinks and snacks all night and free VIP parking. This is for approx $230 per person. TOTALLY WORTH IT! We do this on a Saturday because we buy the Frequent Fear Plus with Express and many Saturdays aren't included. It's all about planning. While the scarezones are somewhat lacking at HOS, their random scareactor placement is epic. They have these people hidden in various spots throughout the park (which is MUCH darker to begin with than Universal), and some of my best scares have come from these actors. Also, their houses are pretty damn good. I loved Motel Hell last year, and I still love Zombie Mortuary. I'd recommend. We're here for you, Matt. If for no other reason than it amuses me to watch people scream. hahahaha
  16. Anyone else trolling the HHN Twitter feed? Twice now, there have been tweets from Howl O Scream, and I retweet it to them stating that Howl O Scream is now posting cooler shit than them. Of course, they never respond to me.. but it makes me feel better.
  17. We will be there on your last weekend. However, i would never go to HHN without express.. I'm too old to stand in line for two damn hours. You may want to seriously reconsider any ticket without express. In fact, I think Rush of Fear with Express is probably the best ticket they sell for getting your money's worth. Anyway, I'm sure by the time the event starts, everyone will be posting what nights they are going and even what they will be wearing. It's possible we may find you. 1. Shining 2. AHS 3. Harvest of the Souls 4. Angels/Demons 5. Bayou of Blood 6. Blumhouse 7. Black Eyed Childre 8. Ash 9. Jigsaw
  18. That's sort of what I was getting at.. I think the RIP tour would be a wonderful idea - especially if you're doing this alone. At least then, you get the opportunity to see so much more. And who knows? Maybe you'll have a decent group that you're paired with. I also hope you continue to reach out to this forum. I"m sure there are fellow Nightmares members who would love to have you hang with them. Maybe we will see you there.. if you don't mind going through a house or two with three middle-aged women. What dates are you going again?
  19. Has anyone noticed the "soul counter" has slowed WAY down.. Wonder why that is?
  20. Over so much time, we've had some spectacular interactions with scareactors. It's hard to narrow down to just one. I toss a few: 1. TCM house last year, the actor was the long haired skinny guy that is the hitchhiker in the movie.. this actor had come to play our escape room, and we met him. I was wearing our Dare 2 Escape t-shirt, so I know he really recognized me. He jumped out from behind furniture or something and literally put me in a headlock and put his knife up against my throat. I am sure it freaked out the people behind us, but I LOVED it. He pretend slashed me, too - well enough, I actually had a small red line on my neck until two days later. 2. The Body Collector's during 25 - the spine ripper scene- all three of us would stop to watch him do it, and then we'd golf clap for him, and he'd always bow. 3. The two awesome chainsaw clowns who participated in our wedding 4. The guy I call "Hippie Chainsaw Guy" - who turned out to be the famous Ken Stricker - during 25, he literally stalked me during the entire event. I don't scare easily AT ALL, and the chainsaws for me are necessary background noise, but that's it. However, THIS guy is talented and persistent. We'd pass him on the street, make eye contact, sort of nod and keep walking. I would look back - he'd be gone. The next thing I know, he is literally almost up my back firing off the chainsaw. Scared the holy hell out of me. He did this over 11 nights, spread over 3 weekends - until the last night, he got me AGAIN, and when I turned to look at him, he held up his fingers showing SEVEN.. the dude was COUNTING how many times he got me. I got my pic with him, and it's one of my fave scareactor pics of all time.
  21. 100% correct. Honest to god, I don't know how much more badass you can get than synced pumpkins. Some people are just never happy.
  22. I've said all along that a very traditional type Halloween scare zone needs to be in Central Park. It should always have the lit pumpkins. I could spend hours upon hours in a zone like that - because I have. In 25, we even got married there (in the grass near the scarecrows). I don't care if it's considered an f-ing repeat or not. THAT IS HALLOWEEN. So get over it. If I had the chance to pick a lineup: Houses Stephen King's "IT" Stephen King's "Pet Sematary" Phantasm Something claustrophobic - like The Descent Another original similar to Gothic with actors on bungees and stilts for max effect A horror comedy house - like Zombieland (I hate zombies, but LOVE this movie!) or Creepshow Night of the Demons - typical 80's horror flick with people getting drunk and screwing with the Ouija board Some kind of original with Bloody Mary (I know, I know.. but I want her back) An original based on lesser known, archaic religions - like the movie The Serpent and the Rainbow Scarezones The pumpkins in Central Park with the scarecrows or pumpkinheads or the bird like creatures from Grown Evil. I don't care if it's a "repeat". It was breathtaking and awesome, and I'd do it again and again I'd love to see a scarezone with actors on bungees again like The Path of the Wicked (was that it? With the flying monkeys?). Bungees are SO effective! In New York - a "Near Dark" scarezone with the vampires from that movie in their camper and in those cars and roaming A Children of the Corn scarezone might be interesting if done right Another creative scarezone like they had last year with the ship - I love that kind of theatrical, unique stuff Shows A special version of Horror Make-up Show that only runs during HHN Some kind of illusionist on the Animal Actors stage (again - read my comments on Aiden Sinclair and tell me that guy wouldn't be a perfect fit) Bill & Ted An actual horror based variety show (without a lot of loud music that interrupts the Central Park scare zone) in front of Mel's.
  23. Oh my gosh, Nick! Thanks so much for playing and for the comments! I'm thrilled you liked it. As HUGE horror fans, our tiny group of owners really want to make our rooms as awesome as we can for our fellow horror fans. We've already got a great and creepy idea for a fourth room which we hope to start working on after the first of the year. Please do come back and play The Asylum! And don't forget to get your HNN discount! (that goes for all of you).
