Not that it has anything to do with your post, but that image is from the book, "Carter Beats the Devil." I won't get into the plot details, but suffice to say that it doesn't feature the REAL devil, himself. It's still a great book.

I've asked the same questions about Mr. Belasco, and the consensus around here is that he's pretty reliable in a vague, mysterious way. I'm unconvinced as yet ("Let's see what comes up when we roll the dice"? Honestly? How vague can you be?!), but I guess there's plenty of time for me to be proven wrong.

Honestly, I really don't think that they're clues. Again. We have no frame of reference to fully decipher them, so if they were clues Emeric would be forcing us just grasp and I don't think he is true fan of that (although I might be presumptuous in that).

Agreed. These just sound like random quotes to me. After all, he just said "the game has not yet begun." Does he ever indicate when the game has started?

Whoa, looks like I missed a real quote from the guy! Are the questions about his identity getting him a little riled up? Is this something we should pursue, or let it go?

I would interpret his quote that "the game has not yet begun" to mean that he hasn't started giving out clues yet. It sounds WAY too obvious to be a SAW reference, and with the SAW franchise ending, it doesn't seem like a great HHN fit anymore.

It sounds like the consensus is that Emeric Belasco is an entity sanctioned by, if not employed by, the A&D team. So, I guess my skepticism regarding his legitimacy is misplaced.

I pose the question again, though: is it possible that Emeric Belasco (and thus, A&D) are deliberately misleading us, or are this year's "quotes" just harder to decipher?

Thank you to Cody, Dr Jimmy and FLUniversalJax. I appreciate you all taking the time to fill me in on last year's details.

In reading the history of Belasco's hints from last year, I guess it is undeniable that he knew what was going on. That being said, most of the quotes from last year were specific references to other media. For example, "over the cuckoo's nest" refers to the famous novel,"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," which deals with the goings-on inside a mental institution. Or "Miss Hanigan," which references the character who runs the orphanage in the classic play "Annie."

The quotes that he has released this year seem much more vague in nature. This may be due to FLUniversalJax' point about the A&D team "upping" the difficulty on us, but could they possibly be false leads? Is there any chance that this Belasco character is throwing out red herrings to keep us off balance?

Again, I apologize for the pessimism, but I am a skeptic through and through. I enjoy the game, but I prefer to know when I am playing it.

P.S. It was mentioned that last year was the first year when advanced information became hard to come by. Any idea what happened to cause the information leak to cease? Are there other sources of inside info that can corroborate anything Belasco says?

I guess I am having trouble seeing a connection between vague, seemingly-unrelated quotes and concrete details of the event. Were last year's quotes in reference to Fear, or to some other aspect of HHN? I'm not on Facebook (yet), so is there any chance that someone can give me a quick refresher on last year's quotes/revelations?

I love a good mystery as much as anyone. Should these quotes prove to have some bearing on the event, I am excited to lend a hand in deciphering their true meaning!

I find it hard to believe that these quotes have anything to do with HHNXXI. Color me pessimistic, but they just don't seem to have any connections to each other, let alone to an event like HHN.

Did last year's clues make sense in retrospect? Were they obvious once the event was revealed, or were they obscure even afterwards?
