  1. they should have double park again, IMO. it can happen, if they plan it right. i posted this on another thread in november, but ill repost it:

Have JP, Marvel, Toon Lagoon, and all of Uni open during the event(block off Potter, Seuss and LC).

    put a SZ:

in the area between Seuss and the bridge to Marvel,

from the cafe across from Hulk to Toon Lagoon,

    JP,

Plaza of the Stars path between Neutron and Shrek

    infront of Disaster,

    Hollywood Blvd.,

    Sting alley and

    Kid zone,

plus the pumpkins on the trees on the bridge from Mel's to Kid zone.

    put a house:

    Carnage Wearhouse

    2 Sprung tents

    JAWS extended Queue

    Disaster extended Queue

    Parade Building

3 SS's(one leading out from IOA so there's not just 1 house there)

    (2 houses being extreme houses)

    rides open:

    Hulk

    Spidey

    Dr. DOOM

    JP RV

    Mummy

    MIB

    Simpsons

    HRRR(if no problems:))

I know that sounds like a lot(which it is) and it would be VERY expensive, but if Uni were able to cut back on certain things from now until HHNXXV(like 5 SZ's instead of 6, 7 houses instead of 8, close rides during event), they could make a kick-ass 25th anniversary!

  2. I think there are only three points of speculation thus far for 2011...

    1) Will The Thing reappear at Halloween Horror Nights thanks to the new movie? Synergy, and past events, tell us "probably". I for one would be stoked to see an updated, all-new Thing house. Maybe in a soundstage this time?

    2) How will Bill & Ted be affected by its new writer(s)? Will the show's quality improve, or will we get another XX-level stinker?

    3) How much weight can we put into the supposed "clues" hidden away in Catacombs? Is the focus on "Death" (capitalized deliberately in several places) a clue or just something to throw us off? Will we be seeing The Grim Reaper as our icon?

    1) I was one of the people that really DESPISED that house in 07. Crap theming, no scares AT ALL(for me at least), a horrible house. I would give it another chance, but if i were UO, i would put in in the parade building. I think it be the most sucessful in either that or one of the tents. it's small and dark(past 7 at least) and would work very nice for THING, if they dont make another crappy house again.

    2) i for one LOVED B&T this year. have they done better, probably. i only see it once evey year, so i dont remember everything after a few months. the new writers might make it the funniest B&T's ever, or the crappiest. time will tell.

    3) I would absolutely LOVE catacombs to return. its the second best house ever made at HHN, IMO(besides NOES:DW). they could also bring Sindy back, since she's directly involved with death. Though i would be scared to bring them back in case they make it a crappy sequel(BC), plus they should personify death like they did fear instead of the grim reaper.

Also, I do for a fact know that Universal was contemplating a SOLO house for XX, they even had a concept going but it didn't build up enough momentum to really take hold for XX. We may see one in XXI though.

    SOLO house? deatails!!!

  3. This could have the potential of being an annoying house to me. To get into the feel of the house, I think they'd have to make the sound stage colder and that would make for an uncomfortable experience for some guests (especially if they're wet AND in Florida-wear). I mean, remember the Saturday of opening weekend HHN19 (if you went)? I waited in line for a house in that and the house was miserable for me when I got in finally (it poured for a while that night, for those who weren't there). Plus the scareactors have to be in there quite a lot, and people could get sick, etc.

i remember that! it wouldn't stop pouring after about 9 and Dracula even got flooded(the queue right in front of the house, at least) and the house was closed for about an hour. imagine peopole(like me) that stood in line for that house for the hour it was closed(plus the already 30 min wait) and go into a freezing SS. i wouldn't be very happy.

  4. Yeah, I guess that was a bit of a rant, and not really even on topic for this thread, but I has some strong opinions about your post :P

go ahead. rant away! your opinion is as good as mine. everyone's entitled to it. and for the concert and queue for SS20, keep the line in the same place. the concert is to entertain the people waiting in line to get into a music-themed house, not for people to come and watch the concert. and the thing about angry drunks for less bar stands is also very true. same with the adults only night. i guess some things i said were very arguable.

  5. why are we complaining about roofs? sure, it would be pretty boss so you feel claustrophobic or closed in with a low roof(such as HAVOC, Catacombs and Orfanage), but i dont look up in a house. i'm looking at the scenery(if noones scaring me) or at the masks of the SA's scaring the$#!! out of me.

also, for the crowd control idea, i'm 14, and i've been going to the event every year since i was 9, so i would suggest a 13 and up only age limit, but then those people like i was that aren't 13 yet won't be able to experience it.

an adults only night on a sunday during the event would be smart, but definitely NOT on a friday or saturday, or the thursdays with no school the next day.

alcohol is defenitely a major problem with the raging alcheys running around the park, stopping the line movement in the houses and causing fights. they should have about 10 bar stands instead of 25.

the front gate, i wouldn't know. i always get there around 5:30 and in the front of the line, so i can't complain about that. what happened in front of there in the past years that make it such a problem?

the stage overlooking the LT queue would be good an bad. good for the entertainment, bad because maybe you could hear it in the ss's, or are they soundproof?

and i would rather just themed streets w/o SA's because the SA's in the SZ's aren't the best. i never get scared in them(besidesTYOF this year). they should save money and just theme areas and make a 9th house!

  6. For what it's worth, there was a rumor that a clue to HHN21 was Catacombs. I posted the following in the Catacombs thread, but it's more appropriate for here.

    __________________________

The Latin, I don't think, is the clue. What I was able to get from it translated (roughly) into:

"Violent Death" (Latin word I couldn't translate) "Sleep"

    "To Hear" (Latin) (Latin) (Latin)

It's a fairly long phrase, and I'm still playing with it some, but considering guests would never be able to see it (there was no show light on it, it can only be seen during a lights on tour), I'm starting to lean more towards another clue.

The final paragraph in the museum portion of the house began with the phrase; "Mankind has always been intrigued by Death." Grammatically, the word "death" should NOT be capitalized there. It's obviously intentional, and capitalizing it personifies death (much the same way Fear is the personification of fear). When you throw in the fact that the rest of the paragraph talks, rather bluntly, about how everything must end and you must fill that time with something suitable while anticipating a new beginning, it begins to eerily correlate with the events of HHN.

The supposed connection with Orfanage, similarly, fits as well. Follow this, it's a bit of a stretch.

Hades deals with monsters in the underworld.

LT deals with ghost who are already dead.

Psychoscarepy deals with either ghost who are already dead or forgotten inmates who are not dead.

    Zombiegeddon deals with the undead.

Hallow'd Past deals with the past.

    Havoc deals with psychotic super-soldiers.

Catacombs deals with the people dying from the Black Death and the people attempting to prevent it.

Orfanage deals with children dying and the person who caused it.

Catacombs and Orfanage are the only two houses this year that specifically deal with death... or better yet... Death.

We have seen the personification of Fear. We have seen that Universal has toyed with the idea of personifying Fate. Death, suddenly, doesn't seem so far outside the realm of possibility.

    ____________________________

That said, Catacombs could easily return as another house or as a street (though those mask would be a nightmare in the streets for scareactors). The Dogs could return or Shadow Creek could be investigated further without the dogs. The Legendary Truth franchise could continue, but only if they "visit" different "locations" which would allow the effects to return in different ways. And with the push towards original content I think we will begin to see a lot less movie references.

i know this is a little late, but i found this:

i was looking at the map for this year, and noticed for the description for EM, the first line says this: "revel into the seductive taunts of Death". This is the only time Death is capitalized on the entire map(with the exception of FR, where the 5 pawns of fear are capitalized), so maybe EM will join Catacombs and Sindy on the Icon of Death? Let's hope so!

  7. to pick up a topic dropped a few days ago....

the literature/horror story idea could be a theme for a whole event, if you think about it. all 8 houses could be like you walking thorugh a horror story, like the shining, other steph king works and EAP stuff. and sz's could be old myths and legends, like 08(but better).

  8. I really don't understand all the hate for Orfanage. This house to me was VERY well done. The atmosfear was off the charts disturbing(though i found it sadistically funny on my 2nd night there  ), the sets were great, and the scares were definetely better than some houses i've been in(PS, LT, ZG, everything from last year). Could the children have been better at scaring, absolutley. No house has the perfect amount of scares through one run(although i felt that way during HHNXVII with NOES and Catacombs). Yes, some kids were just standing around doing nothing but hiding and staring at you, but some really put some energy into it, like both cindys on both casts, the pirate looking kid(damn kid got me every. single. time. plus the kids in the beds, and a room with bates on either side with 4 actors and a drop door at the end, i dont know what it's called). in my top 10 of all time defenitely.

now as for LT, defenitely could've been executed a lot better scare-wise. it relied WAYYYYY too much on timing. i went through this house only once, and i got scared only once, plus the masks were really stupid(i screamed when he scared me, then laughed at the mask  ). The facade, technology and sets were all immaculate(especially the garden. incredible!), and that's the only thing that saves it from last place.

Zombiegeddon gets that unfortunate honor for me this year. i didn't get 1 single scare in the entire house, plus the sets really weren't that spectacular, but i give it a 9/10 because i found the story cool, i felt the energy in the house, and the zombies WERE scaring plenty of people, i saw and heard them, but they didn't get ME.

PS:EoS was a fantastic house, but really lacked on scares. the facade, sets and atmosfear was all there, but the scares were absent. someone mentioned before about them trying to make it funny instead of scary like it usually is, but that's not supposed to be this year. i imagined this house to be really cool and fun but not scary, and i was right. I still think it's a 10 house and a great way to end the series.

HN:H'dP was a very well done house. It had the nerdgasm rooms of props, awesome recreations of houses/SZ's, and the atmosfear was....alright. It felt kinda home-ish to me, like it was all familiar to me...and thats because it was. Could they have done this house different, absolutely. i thought they should have done this: the prop scene was fine in the beginnig, then the tunnel, but do the rooms in this order:

    Chaos room(Jack/eddie)

    Vengence Room(Usher)

    Legend room(storyteller)

    Death room(caretaker/cindy)

    Sacrifice room(director)

5 house rooms(change alice, treaks and DE. i loved DE with a passion, but they should've left it alone)

    FEAR room

    then it would've been complete.

HAVOC was a very energetic house. nice atmosfear, some really good scares, and just plain fun.

Hades was a very creative house. the facade would have been the best of all time if it weren't for LT. the costumes, however, are the best. i don't think i've ever screamed more than in this house. fantastic scares from the second i walked in to the second i walked out. one of the best houses of all time. an EXTREMELY close second with my first place winner and HotY:

Catacombs!!!!!! This house scared the crap out of me. the "Peckers" were non-stop coming at me both trips through this house. i got like 50 scares!!! it was incredible!!!! the sets and facade were nothing to brag about, but they didn't need to be. it's and undergruond cemetery thats 500 years old!!!!! the room with the zombies/air pumps/sheets petrified me both trips through. i applaud Uni for making the greatest original house ever!!!(2nd best if you count the movie house NOES).

I don't really care for the SZ's but the only one i hated was ZG. it sucked. period.

    House Rankings:

    1. Catacombs

    2. Hades

    3. Orfanage

    4. Hallow'd Past

    5. HAVOC

    6. PsychoScareapy

    7. Legendary Truth

    8. Zombiegeddon

    Scarezones:

    1. 20 Years of fear/Fear Revealed(i consider this the same SZ. there right nest to each other and they flow right into each other. the past into the new age of darkness)

    2. Escuelerto Muerte(awesome neon and costumes. i got a few scares out of this one actually)

    3. Coven(nicely themed. i got a pretty good scare out of this one as well from the witch in the hut)

    4. Saws N' Steam(i saw the energy, and people getting scared, but i didnt get scared, note it's low rating. but i did see one woman get the life scared out of her by 2 sawmen)

    5. Zombie Gras(fail)

  9. for both parks to be used, i'd say this:

Have JP, Marvel, Toon Lagoon, and all of Uni open during the event(block off Potter, Seuss and LC).

    put a SZ:

in the area between Seuss and the bridge to Marvel,

from the cafe across from Hulk to Toon Lagoon,

    JP,

Plaza of the Stars path between Neutron and Shrek

    infront of Disaster,

    Hollywood Blvd.,

    Sting alley and

    Kid zone,

plus the pumpkins on the trees on the bridge from Mel's to Kid zone.

    put a house:

    behind Dr. Doom

    2 Sprung tents

    JAWS extended Queue

    Disaster extended Queue

    Parade Building

    3 SS's

    (2 houses being extreme houses)

    rides open:

    Hulk

    Spidey

    Dr. DOOM

    Ripsaw

    JP RV

    Popeye

    Mummy

    MIB

  10. Who is Fate, exactly?

Edit: orlandinorules56, you need to get your photos into Photobucket, Flickr, or something along that. Then you rick click, you will see something that says "Properties". Click that. Highlight and copy the URL (without copying the http://). Then, when you're posting, click the "Insert Image" thumbnail at the top of your post box. Paste the copied URL into the box, then click "Insert Image". Hope that helps! :D

    thank you!

  11. well said, keeper. this year holds a special place in my heart for the memorable scares(eddie in Hallow'd Past), laughs and houses(hades, catacombs, orfanage, HAVOC, Hallow'd Past). no matter what anyone else says, this year is without a doubt the best year that ive attended, along with 2006.

  12. ^that right there my friends, would have been a kickass theme for this year.

and i have to disagree on your take on "the crapanage", i thoroughly loved this house. it had the scares, the atmosphere, the music, EVERYTHING!! i think you had the crappy cast, or went through on a shift change, and i feel sorry for you then, cuxz this house blew me away.
