  1. I've finally uploaded my photos from last night's lecture (& the Lounge, in general). They can be found at my new HHNXX VIP Lounge Flickr set. You can find higher-res versions of these there, as well. And lastly, it would appear that my work is on display in the lounge as well! These are two of my photos from 2008. How flattering!
  2. Not to toot my own horn, but InsidetheMagic.net is running my article about HHN Photography Tips! Just wanted to share with you guys. Tips for taking perfect scareactor photos at Halloween Horror Nights
  3. I was there last night. I'll upload my pictures a little later in the day. For what it's worth (and I'm not sure if this has already been related), I believe TJ said that last night's presentation was NOT restricted to those 21 and up. I would assume that would apply to future lectures as well. EDIT: And yes, Michele said this just a handful of posts ago. Sorry for the redundancy.
  4. The first batch has been uploaded to Flickr. Photos from the VIP Lounge are to follow. Some favorites: Sleepy-time Jack:
  5. Hey everybody. I've got about 400 photos from last night to process, so it's going to take me some time today to work my way through them. Just wanted to say thank you to armyofrobots (it was nice meeting you!) and jesspark for allowing me to take their pictures last night. I took a lot of photos in the VIP lounge, as well, and I highly recommend the Thursday night Speaker's Forums. If you can make it out to HHN on a Thursday, pay the extra 10 bucks to get into the lounge. The props, concept artwork and various other cool touches are really a HHN fan's dream come true. Once you've had your fill of HHN artifacts from the past, you get the added treat of hearing members of Universal's A&D department speaking about various topics. Each week has a different focus. Last week focused on HHN's flirtations with the "Extreme House" concept, while this week's topic was 'Legendary Truth.' TJ and the rest of his Creative team detailed the evolution of HHN immersion and participation, and how it has culminated in the current ARG (Alternate Reality Game) that we all know and love. It was interesting to hear, and definitely made me look forward to their future topics. Higher-res versions of these can be found at my HHNXX Flickr page. Thanks, guys!
  6. took a LOT of pictures tonight. Look for them sometime tomorrow!

  7. I didn't take many pictures the other night as I was enjoying the event with my wife. I'll be there Thursday, though, in full-on picture-taking mode. If there are any scareactors out there who'd like me to snap a pic, send me a PM and I'll do my best. Just a really small batch to upload today. Here are a couple that I liked:
  8. The second batch is up on my Flickr page. Some favs from this batch:
  9. I took another big bunch of photos last night. I'm about halfway through processing them, so check back later for the rest. As always, the entire HHNXX set can be found HERE. Here are some favorites from the first batch: A big thanks to the casts of The Coven, Esqueleto Muerte, 20 Years and Fear Revealed for tolerating me and letting me snap in their zones.
  10. Here's a basic rundown of my lantern creation process. This could be done much better than I did, but I like to finish my wreath before the event starts, so I was working under a time constraint. In the end, I would've liked to have painted the lantern, as well as try to create more of the "vine" that envelops the top. But, hey, it works as a decoration. I apologize if this is tough to follow. I usually take photos of wreaths in-progress, but not this time. Sorry that there aren't visuals to follow! I bought the lamp at a local Michael's crafts store. It was in the candle section. They also had smaller black and white lanterns in the wedding section, but I wanted something a little larger. I removed the glass from two of the lantern's sides and cut away the thin metal filigree (using tin snips), leaving only the support beams in each corner. Measuring the sides of the lantern, I found them to be 4 inches by 5.5 inches. I went to a Lowe's home improvement store and bought a sheet of 8.5x11 plexiglass. Using a metal ruler, I measured two 4 by 5.5 pieces to be cut from the plexi. I scored them with a utility knife and, using the corner of a table, broke them off cleanly. I isolated the lantern image from some of JWFearman's website rips. I took this into Photoshop, made each panel 4 by 5.5 inches, and made them completely black. I printed these lantern templates on regular white paper. I tried to print it on clear contact paper, but this just fouled up my printer. After printing, I used an X-Acto knife to cut out all the "white" parts, where the light would eventually shine through. This was definitely the most time consuming step. Once the lantern templates were completely cut, I laid them face down on a table (black side down) and covered each of them with a sheet of clear contact paper. This gave them extra support and still kept the whole thing transparent. Next, I applied each clear contact paper/lantern template to one of my pieces of plexiglass. This gave me two plexiglass panels with black lantern filigree. All that remained was to attach them to the lantern itself. Finally, using a hot glue gun, I ran a bead of glue around the edge of the plexiglass and attached it to my lantern. Slap a flickering LED tealight (or a real tealight, but be careful of the paper-and-contact-paper on the plexi!) and the effect is complete! Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions!
  11. Here's the big red button in Psychoscareapy:
  12. Just uploaded a bunch of pictures from my UTH Tour. Some of the pictures turned out well, others will make no sense to you unless you've seen the houses with the lights on. Either way, enjoy. The whole set can be found HERE. Favorite shots: EDIT: I don't really understand the desire for spoiler tags (if you haven't been to the event yet, and don't want it spoiled, why are you looking at the Event Photos section?), but it's a fair enough request. Click below for photos from the UTH Tour.
  13. Just got home from our UTH Tour. David was our Tour Guide and he did a fantastic job! I'll try to get my photos up as soon as I can, however we're headed back to the park shortly. It probably won't be until tomorrow that I can get them uploaded.
  14. Not to keep plugging my own pictures, but there were a few more in this batch that I was pretty fond of: Also, a couple of new videos: Fear & his Minions (daytime) Zombie Gras #1 Zombie Gras #2 And for whoever was asking about the Roaming CDT, I got one picture, but it's not very good:
  15. I took a lot of photos last night. They were pretty hit-or-miss as far as quality goes. Thank you to all the Scareactors who let me take your picture! As always, the entirety of my photos can be found on my HHNXX Flickr page. If you have any comments or critiques, please let me know! Here are some favorites from Opening Night: I tried to photograph the Icons with the X's in the background. I thought some of these turned out well.
  16. Bud and Bud Light for sure. I may be wrong, but I don't think the tent bars usually have much of a beer selection. Finnegans has a few more choices typically.
  17. The other Icons have similar glyph "tattoos." I wasn't able to get any other pictures that show them, but I can assure you that The Usher is not the only one who has been marked.
  18. I don't know if anybody will be interested in these, but I took two videos the other night, too. Just trying to get a little more use out of my Flip camera. Fear and his disciples The Saws N' Steam stage
  19. Please comment as much as you'd like. I'm always looking for comments and criticism. I think that first picture (from Esqueleto Muerto) is my favorite picture so far. That's not saying much, but I do like it.
  20. Just posted a big new bunch of photos on my HHN XX Flickr page. Here are some of my favorites: And for those of you who think Eddie shouldn't be blonde, here ya go:
  21. All I did was take photos tonight. I ended up with about 460, of which about 200 are not total crap. I'll be running them through Photoshop in the morning to crop, color-correct and such, and I'll post the best ones here and on Flickr shortly thereafter. EDIT: aww, heck, I couldn't resist. Here are a few to whet your appetites:
  22. I enjoy making an HHN-themed Christmas wreath each year. I started in 2008, and my Bloody Mary wreath is still one of my favorites. I'm still looking for photos of the 2009 wreath (not my favorite), and I'll post 'em when I can find some. I know that most of the items listed in this thread are personal items that have been purchased over the years. These are part of our "collection," although they are most definitely homemade. Enjoy! 2008: 2010:
  23. Great shots, Wes. Can't wait to see your pictures from this year!
  24. I may stop by for a bit as well. I've never met any of you in person, and this seems like a good year to change that. See you guys on Friday!
