  1. I got the 12 night pass. I plan on going on four, maybe five times if the event is really good. Opening night, I'll have my premium pass with me and I'll be there until five so I won't have to pay for the parking.

Ya, doing the same thing, trying the first stab thing, hopefully we will be in the mazes by 6:30! Being already in the park always worked nicely in Florida. Regardless, skipping the front entry mob scene should be nice.

  2. Bill and Ted being canceled for this stupid reason is lame. Universal was fine with the shows content for the past month. I think it is very weak of Universal to give into D list media outlets. I am attending again tomorrow night and the lines are going to beyond horrible with Terror Tram closing early and no Bill and Ted (let’s face it, that show had a higher hourly capacity than any maze). Anyone think that Universal will give refunds to unused tickets? Without a front of a line ticket it is pointless.

  3. It could still be in the same area of the backlot as the maze (NY area), but two seperate attractions and queue lines...

If terror tram is in its regular location how are they going to get people to the backlot maze?

The Kong loading area they used a few years back is now a maze.

OK...I guess I was wrong. Murdy said via Twitter today that he is also the voice of mother bates at the Psycho house for this years event. I am really bummed out we are getting the same ol, getting worse every year, terror tram. Something that started off really cool in 2006/2007 has become a boring, predictable, randomly themed, repeat every year. I was really hopeful of a truly reimagined experience. I am now starting to think that the big tent by NY street on the backlot will house two mazes and that will be the last unknown maze location. No Soundstage. I am still hopeful.

  4. Well, looks like that NY street maze (probably TWD) is officially not a part of the TT. Disregard my previous spec.

  5. So is it pretty much confirmed that TT is going to be in its normal location? The area by the house we assume is being built off NY street has a few spots where the GP could not do much damage to the sets. Around London, the grassy area that has a wall/backdrop all along one side. If they are filming in this area how can a maze be there (crowds, sounds...).

  6. A few logistical questions/thoughts:

If TT is in its normal spot how will you access the maze at NY street on the backlot? They will not let the GP have that much access to the backlot or expect them to walk that far. Will they offer a King Kong express type tram separate from TT? Where would this load from?

Might that big tent off NY street house 2 mazes?

Any updates or new sightings at the soundstage next to Transformers (28 I believe)?

Last point, I think it is safe to assume there will be no version of the frequent fear pass offered this year.

  7. Six years of the same crap getting worse. Enough is enough. We need a new tram area or go back to using the queue for mazes constructed in the tram maintenance/storage area. Without the Bates maze the Terror Tram is really horrible and a 100% repeat.....again.

  8. If it is so busy they should have never offered any discount and stop exploiting social media like the biggest Halloween event whores. FOTL and GA are still not "Souled" out for tomorrow. Also props to Knotts for doing this Sunday (and many more off peak nights). GREED! Nowhere else raises advance prices at a whim before events. Do we all agree that is shady and bad business?

  9. Speaking of GREED, Universal is up to their trick from last year again. It appears the "advance" ticket price for this friday just went up $10 dollars online to $47.99. I guess as we learned last year with FOTL passes, Universal's definition of "Advance ticket price" is until we feel like raising it. I hate when they do this shit. It should be the same price until it sells out or day of event. This is really bad business.

  10. Those Christmas Trees look terrible... I would pay to see somebody start decorating them while going through the maze. I know it's vandalism and not actually a good idea, but it would still be epic... The maze doesn't look bad to me but when I saw the trees I was like "Ummmmm.... What???".

HHNH loves to recycle props..cough...all the scarezones.... At least now they are being creative and recycling from Grinchmas instead of HHN...lol Maybe the Grinch will be hiding in there.

  11. Let's not forget about Annual Pass Holders. Universal really screwed them this year too. Even going back to 1997 annual pass holders had huge discounts, seeing as you have access to the park all year and are really only interested in the special themed event. The discounts this year SUCK. I am very interested to see how the hardcore fans, general public (social media), and annual passholders have an effect on ticket sales. They also really used to reley on night of sales. As mentioned before I wonder if all their "EVENT WILL SELL OUT" and overselling of tickets, running out of parking in past years will have a toll on walk ups this year (the lesson Knotts learned).

  12. Wolfman maze idea AMAZING. Execution CRAP. Orlando did it right a few years back. Ours looks like recycled HOH crap. I was really expecting a lot more retheming. As of today (well after rehearsals) top of the stairs has a new display, empty room after spinning tunnel has xmas trees (WTF) and a few cadavers in the lab. So many scenes do not jive with the Wolfman. How can they be explained/justified? For being our only real building/"soundstage" this location disappoints every year. Just leave it what it is...HOH, stop trying to fool yourself/us.

  13. Carl's is really not much of a discount, if any from online prices:

    9/23 -$37 (Save $25)

    9/24 and 10/31 -$41 (Save $21)

    9/30 and 10/9 -$46 (Save $16)

    10/1,7,16,20,27,30 -$51 (Save $11)

    10/8, 14,21,23,28,29- $56 (Save 6)

    10/15,22 - $62

UniversalStudiosHollywood.com/CarlsJr (Last I checked link was not live)

WOW! Universal is being very greedy this year all the way around with tickets (GA,FFP, FOTL, RIP). People on Facebook have been going after them about all the price hikes and product value. Hope it works out for them....

  14. The FOTL pass has historically had ZERO effect on standby lines. I have only used FOTL when I have gone, and they've only had FOTL since 2006. The only times I have ever waited in the Gate A line was for a gap to open up in the standby line - and that was no more than 20 seconds. Last year, FOTL sold out every single night (usually just an hour or so after the gates open), yet the FOTL were so limited that even then it had zero effect on standby.

I am searching every corner of my tiny little brain to figure out why they would add this stipulation and the only thing I can come up with is that they are going to FLOOD the event with FOTL just as Orlando does. Over there, it's not uncommon on a peak night to see a standby line of 2 hours and a Express line of 30 minutes. Over there, they sell many many thousands of Express passes nightly. They do sell out, but the numbers are staggering compared to Hollywood because the park is so much bigger. And even when Orlando does sell out of Express passes, and the Express lines are dwindling to 15 minutes around 11PM, they start selling a 2-hour "Mini Express" pass that keeps them constantly unpleasant.

Historically, I bet that Hollywood limited FOTL passes at perhaps 2-3% of expected capacity. I'd expect that they will raise that limit to 15%-20% this year. What it means is that lines are going to be crazy long - for both standby and Gate A. I do not doubt that this year will be the busiest ever for HHN Hollywood. The good times are officially over for the diehard fans.

Front Of The Line passes totally affect the stand by lines. That is like saying Fastpass at Disney don't affect the standby line. At Horror Nights it decreases the hourly stand by capacity by a minimum of 25% but usually closer to 50%. So the stand by line moves twice as slow (60 min stand by turns into 90 to 120 min). With single entry FOTL Uni is able to control and put a number on your pass (with unlimited entry you could do 2 mazes or 30 in a night) as far as overall event/attraction capacity. Now with single use FOTL they can sell double the amount. They saw a demand and a way to make more money and they jumped on it. I think the event theme this year should be greed. It will be interesting to see how this year plays out for them with a very limited/non-existent multi night pass, one time entry FOTL, and overall very minimal ticket discounting in comparison to last year.

  15. I was just about to post that.

    NINE. NINE? NINE!!!#2hu832jtgk4rngtr

    WHAT THE HELL?

I knew this year would be bound to have something go horribly wrong.

Most people don't even get in until about 9! Traffic, security checks, lines to buy tickets, etc. People who don't even know about it will unknowingly come at that time and be like WHAT?

Traditionally I do Terror Tram first anyway but come the eff on. What are all the scareactors gonna do? Just be off within 4 hours? (I assume there's about a 2 hour prior check in time... but with most just being in Ghostface costume, that's like... no prep time needed).

Wasn't it TWELVE before? They need to re-work a deal. At least TEN. Most people should be in by about 10 although I'm sure a HUGE amount of people will still miss it and this is going to be the MUST SEE thing this year being this year's biggest property and all.

I hate the neighbors. EFFING HATE THEM!

For Terror Tram this year having Scream it is sooo stupid they cut the line at 9pm (2 hours into the event). Why even bother? Even if they REALLY push it and do 4,000 per hour still so many people won't be able to experance (and those who do will be at a stand still). I think it is time to move it away from the houses or scrap it and get some soundstage houses. Maybe the limited capacity on thurs and Sun has something to do with the majorly cut back Killer Night Pass?

  16. I just want to give a major THANK YOU to all of the creative team. You've all done an awesome job this year, from afar at least.

But to the executives, marketing, etc.. SCREW YOOOOOOOOOOOU

    1) FFP debacle on MANY accounts (5 nights that you CAN'T choose and that are HORRIBLE to begin with, most being in SEPTEMBER - - selling such a limited amount of them at a VERY short notice which I believe was only about 24 hours- - and not planning on having them in the first place)

    2) Closing the Terror Tram line at NINE on Thursdays and Sundays. For the longer rant, go to the Terror Tram thread (also for the link if you've yet to see this also)

    3) MAJOR delay on selling the tickets.

    4) MAJOR delay on an updated website

    5) Same tagline as last year.

    *Krusty voice* UGGGGGGGGGGGH

    AGREED!!!
