  1. I ask about the merch online (via email) and i got some news. I saw Designing the Fear post a new zombie shirt, kind of like last years one so i decided to email if i can start ordering my tees. Well they said not until they actually sell the stuff (she said thursday/friday but you never know) and she gave some news. She said there will be 5 HHN shirts, but gave me 7 things. I dont know if they are somehow all related but here they are: Resident Evil- 21.95 La Llorona- 21.95 (She said the walking dead shirts are 23.95 and 2 shirts are the walking dead which im assuming are:) "I am a fighter, not a biter"- 23.95 (?) HHN 2013 Infected- 23.95 (?) Evil dead- 21.95 House tee- 21.95 Generic- 21.95 I only asked for tees, they will probably have jackets as they did last 2 years. Im assuming the 5 hhn shirts are evil dead, house, generic, resident evil and llorona. Kind of sad no CITW shirt but also a little happy for the LL shirt! I believe the infected HHN 2013 shirt is the one DTF posted and i can't find a way to put the picture up so i'm expecting someone to soon lol
where is that located? I would like to see it.
  2. Okay I'm going to chime in here, because this was one of my most anticipated houses. I watched 3 or 4 media videos of the walkthrough with the one I posted (its not in black and white) being the worst in showing how bad some of the masks look. That could be due to the flash of the camera but you can see all of the masks and makeup clear as day. A lot of the scareactors other then the riot zombies do not look like proper walkers. The walker with dreads eating the other prisoner seriously looks like The Predator. Something just looks off about the makeup and masks. The lack of characters also hurts it like I thought.

Now with that being said, there is not much they could have done differently to impress me with the "scare" factor. I say "scare" because someone popping out and pretending to grab you or banging on something loud doesn't frighten me. But I completely disagree that the house doesn't tell a story and is dull. It's underwhelming to what I expected, but it was never going to meet those heights. The house perfectly puts you in the show, with the entrance being the arena of Woodbury, then you proceed through the town where survivors are fighting walkers, to the governers mancave where you must escape Penny

and finally to the infested prison. The main problem is there is not enough scareactors in a lot of the scenes to give it the

Walking Dead feel. And that was an issue the first time I walked through the original house

It's hard to tell about the music of the show being utilized, in some of the videos you can hear it perfectly but in others you can't. I like how you can hear the main theme at times but wish some of the more intense music appears, which I never really heard. Some of it sounds generic but it is very hard to make out most of it in any video.

But this years house is night and day with last years in terms of atmosphere and sets. I actually like the survivor shooting scene and think it draws guests in and I love the ending. A&D definitely tried way harder to put guests into the show this year, and from the sets to the sound effects, I think they succeded. I'm not sure how many more interactive elements they could

have added except maybe more survivors fighting back scenes. With any IP, you are probably going to enjoy the house more if you like the property and I'm a huge fan of the show. I recognize every set they used this year unlike last year.

It's not as good as I hoped, but hopefully it will get better as the event goes. I really think they need to add way more walkers and not have just 2 in every room other then the last and the guardtower area. That might be why some are finding it dull, and I can understand that. Other then that my main issue is with the masks and lack of characters again.

Ok where can I find these videos of the walkthroughs? With scareactors. Sorry in jury duty and having technical difficulties

I completely agree with this, in the light they look like Hannibal Lector masks and not walkers. The first one you see after the Milton look alike ..I have no idea what that's supposed to be. For Universal, it's really cheap.

  3. I thought AC was a good house, and not only because i'm an alice cooper fan, but the house itself was pretty cool. It's hillarious to hear some sa "they tried their best with what they're given" phrase. Like if they gave them a cardboard box and a can lol.
I absolutely meant no disrespect at all. I am a HUGE HHNfan that's just the phrase I grew up hearing. It obviously was better than a cardboard box and a can but... compared to: Screamhouse Body Collectors Wolfman Frankenstein Just to name a few it just didn't compare in my personal opinion.
  4. I guess I chalked up not liking it to not being into AC bc Ive never went through a house I hated at HHN. Again I didnt HATE the AC house but I had no idea what was going on and just couldnt get into it. I just used my time to go through houses that I really enjoyed. The classics house last year was my favorite. I hit that thing like 8 times in 4 nights! And that house got a touch of hate... some how! lol Now with that said the people in front of me (maybe early to mid 40's, who probably were listening to AC in his prime) LOVED that house. They were giddy as school kids in line ready to go through!
I'm 39.......I didn't like it at all. No offense to the scareactors they were the best they could with what they were given. Just seemed blah...to us when we walked through. Not a fan of AC but that doesn't really mean anything. It just I guess "fell flat" for us.
  5. I agree with JDW in the end HHN is just a event. This will be my 14th year going (not in a row) and I pretty much love whatever UNi does. I'll always go if I can and I'll always come to this site and speculate. Everyone has a opinion lets not bite each others heads off just because we don't agree with one another or it's just not fun anymore.

This will be our 10th year and I agree with both of you on this one!!!! Can't wait!!

  6. AWIL a comedy? Hmm I remember being scared out of my pants when that came on HBO (and subsequently my parents not really stopping me from watching enough to give me perpetual nightmares).

    HOWEVER,

Apparent the Japanese thought it was a comedy when they designed their movie poster back when it first came out.

    192836_v1.jpg

On second thought... hmm yeah this version totally captures the essence of the movie: I goofy American werewolf goes to London to find love... hijinks ensue.

    (queue the Benny Hill music)

Dude I may be alone in this but I REALLY hope AWIL isn't comical. I grew up on that movie.....I remember it terrifying my dad he's terrified of werewolves to this day he won't watch it again. I remember there being some comical MOMENTS but as a whole....nahhh! I want awesome werewolf make up and the ever popular TRANSFORMATION!!!! That transformation was the biggest deal in make up back then it was huge. I can't wait to see what they could do with today's technology and make up effects. It has potential to be really awesome. Fingers crossed ;)

  7. No offense, but have you been to local haunts lately. You could do a short tour of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and see more permanent local haunts, three times as long and with more detail. Don't get me wrong, I love HHN and will always go too, but Universal needs to realize that there is more and more competition. The streets tie the houses together adding to one stop shopping. But they've really dropped the ball lately. Unless you want to get "wasted", if you live in any big city, you can drive to more haunts with better sets and much longer mazes. Before you flame me, please realize, I like you, LOVE HHN! But there's no denying it has gotten progressively worse. I offer disappointment only because I want Universal to "fix" it. Yes, the crowds are bigger. But also, take a look at them. I'm not quite sure it's the demographic Universal wants. This same problem happenend to Knott's Berry Farm's Halloween Haunt. I critisize only because I don't want to lose something I love. *And by demographic I mean younger punks and drunks. Typically with less money to spend than tourists.
I agree we too hate the drunks and punks. We live in a small town with literally one stop light so for us we don't have much to chose from as far as haunts go. I can see what you're saying for the bigger cities but for po-dunks like us....HHN has been the best thing since sliced bread. I love being able to recognize things from TV and Movies at HHN due to the fact thats all I do for the most part. As far as the streets go.....I may stand alone but as long as I get scared I could care less about theme and such. My only goal when going to HHN is to get the bejesus scared out of me. We really don't do rides it's all about the scares. We make frequent trips down for the parks...rides.
  8. My gut says yes. It's the only IP that could "make up" for the negative reaction yesterday brought.
Alright.......and the negative reaction from yesterday...I don't get it!!! I'm stoked about EVERYTHING I've heard so far I mean it could be worse!!!! I am a HUGE Walking Dead fan, loved Evil Dead, not gonna lie didn't care for Cabin in The Woods (the movie), but hey RE, AWIL... dude I think the complaining needs to stop...myself personally! ;) I'm going regardless and if any of these people have ever been to the little local rinky-dink haunted attractions...well then they should appreciate what we do get!!! That's all I'm saying!!!! Universal you have my total backing and support!!!!!

  9. All I know is if the "Rains of Castamere" starts playing, 1. I'll be a happy Lannister 2. Sh*t is about to go down 3. Most of the Game of Thrones fandom present at the show may cry.
Dude I pray to see any Game of Thrones. I think it would be funny if they had the red lady "alisandra"( I know I miss spelled that) have her just randomly pop up in situations and say " THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS!!" That'd be hilarious! !! And please let there be a Rob Stark or at least Tyrion slapping Geoffrey! !
  10. It is more of a pentagram than a star and it too is for "Evil Dead". Look at the writing around the symbol ("Don't say it" and "Don't write it") and it should be fairly evident that this is pointing us to "Evil Dead". Basically, all three pictures were just one clue to point us to the same house. Next clue please.
Got it just watched the movie!!!! Loved it!!!!! Classic horror movie with lots of GORE:)
