  1. Catholicism relates very much to the Warrens.
  2. It’s probably subtler than that. I can word game, but visual clues usually aren’t my forte unless really, really obvious. I tend to make weird associations with images. It’s a crest/seal. The link mentions Keough. Has anyone figured it out? EDIT: I managed to quote the wrong person!! I completely missed this. In my defense, I work retail and you can imagine the joy my life was during this time period. Additions to the Mary TM talk: Weiner filed for a Standard Character Trademark in April 2008 for Bloody Mary for entertainment services in Halloween amusement, namely, a haunted house attraction. This mark was not approved until March 2010. A standard character mark is a mark that trademarks words with no particular style or design. She trademarked the words Bloody Mary for haunted houses. Not her own character, style, or design. This is why Mary Agana could be referenced, but not called Bloody Mary. Being unable to use her recognized name, they haven’t used her for anniversary years. But... In 2017, that trademark was cancelled by the Trademark office. It is dead. Bloody Mary is public domain again. The trademark was #7740225
  3. I realized I never explained why that clue from @Legacy was torturous for me. The Latin translates to: Mary, Our Hope. She’s my favorite icon. No, I don’t think that is the answer, but I can’t help connecting her.
  4. Why do you torture me? Hello! Life has been getting in the way. I’m still around. Will try to be more active. No promises. Life and such, but Christmas is over so work should be easier now. I played the Graveyard Games FB game. It worked, even though I couldn’t attend. Interesting tidbits of info. I can link some of it to the Terra Queen. Similarities to her story. There are two Twitter accts that are still active for Sid and Nancy. Probably just scareactors or fans having fun, but I find it interesting. Speaking of interesting, how many here realize the significance of choosing the names Sid and Nancy for the characters?
  5. Well, what I heard was wrong. The quote was from Sphere. It appears I heard wrong. I heard the house called an underwater Interstellar Terror. Sphere is, basically, an underwater Event Horizon. We have creatures, though.
  6. The Forsaken was the house version of Dead Man’s Wharf. In case I’m asleep when the announcement happens and my connection is correct (I had 2 hrs of sleep. I’m running a caffeine and crazy), here’s a quote: ”What happens if Jerry gets mad?”
  7. One can hope. I may have finally made a connection. I should have seen it awhile ago. I’ll have to wait for the announcement to confirm it, but it’ll be interesting if I’m right. There’s a movie that may have inspired the house. Not the obvious ones we’ve discussed, though.
  8. Soon is now. We will know if all holds by tomorrow.
  9. Maybe? A quick calculation based on the permit fee tells me the partition is going to cost about $5,400. I would think there are cheaper ways to do so. They’ve used curtains in the soundstages to separate things in the past. I don’t know. And with all the rumors about KZ eventually getting overhauled and the potential for that building getting demolished, it just seems like an odd expense choice.
  10. It’s not really a matter of anyone releasing the permit. Permits fall under Florida’s Sunshine law. They are required to be accessible to the public. Permits are pulled based on when construction starts and when the contractor pulls the permit. There is leeway with how soon the contractor has to pull the permit after construction has begun. We, also, have to wait for the permits to be placed on the Orlando permit site. Permits seem to have had a small delay this year when it comes to being placed on the site. We only have 5 house permits. New Parade (B108), all three tents, and SS22. We know we are getting 10 houses, so we haven’t been overly worried about a lack of permits, but we have been wondering where the others are. I don't think this indicates there won’t be a house in B79, but I am trying to figure out why a partition is being built.
  11. New permit: BLD2019-14528. It is for B79, but I don’t think it’s for the house. The fee amount isn’t enough for it to be for a house. The description states interior partition.
  12. The announcement of Monsters, and where it falls on the house grid, showed that placement isn’t as clear cut as original vs IP and announcement order. There is a slot between StrTh and UCM. Yes. The website setup isn’t consistent with a definitive IP/Original split off point. Monsters is an original take on IPs. It’s is no different than Cabin, Thing: Assimilation, and ‘07 NoES. It’s a strange hybrid.
  13. Have I told you lately that I like you? Biggest pet peeve from this year is the cryptid misnomer. My guess is someone has Sasquatch or Bigfoot trademarked. I’ve been silently fuming about this. Graveyard house: We are apparently talking about the house I was referring to earlier now. The final original. This would be the one that doesn’t make thematic sense to me.
  14. #eventually! I’m not sure what the next house announcement will be. It’s the only house that I currently don’t understand based what little I know. Unsure at this time. Most likely not, but I’m always cynically hopeful. You keep answering my questions, and you answer correctly. Out of my head, please. There’s already too many people in there. Now for the why I’m hopeful. 5/5 still seems to be in play. The announcement/house grid on the site is weird. The way things are spaced is just not visually appealing, unless there are other reasons for the spacing. If the spacing is based on importance/fan reception, we must ask: What original would be more important than Nightingales? And there’s a house that doesn’t make sense to me. It could simply be a matter of simplicity. I see far more potential and want more, but the house theming is simple/more basic. It’s my only means of speculation at the moment, and I miss speculating.
  15. There’s something that doesn’t thematically make sense to me at the moment. My brain is trying to figure that out. I’m a storyteller. I, always, try to figure out the story.
  16. I’m alive and kicking and screaming and I am still not ok. The announcement was a decent diversion, but I was distracted by something on another forum that I’ve been trying to figure out. It’s maintained the majority of my focus today. If I can get an answer to a question I asked, it may help me piece some things together. Yay!! Announcement!! And we are moving on... If I get an answer I may prime the pump by dropping hints to get you all the speculate. More minds are always better at figuring things out.
  17. I admitted I was being snarky and mean. Not really being serious with that comment. I firmly believe the primary issue is what I stated. There’s a fight over the sandbox and neither side is willing to concede and compromise. There are creative elements to marketing, but there are minds who have invested years into building a mythos. I, being a creator for the art , better understand the minds protecting their mythos. I understand the defensive posture. I, also, find it degrading for individuals to step in and say “Jack is the only icon who can sell” and then have others create two figure heads. And yes, until they can work together, I think Marketing should stick to creating the marketing and A&D stick to creating the stories. Why? Because horror is a genre that is greatly harmed by the cliches/popularisms that an effective marketing department should focus on. Appealing to the masses is the marketing goal. They’ve done good with that, but I feel it will harm the brand in the end. Horror isn’t appealing to the masses. It’s niche. It’s always been niche. What happens when there is no TWD or AHS or StrTh? They aren’t going to last. It’s been good years for horror fans, but it’s tenuous. It’s not permanent. The cycle of popularity will end. It always does. Edit: Roddy left in 2009. It was a thing. Not going to go into that further. Don’t ask, but there was a thing.
  18. Those who truly create and those who think they can? That was snarky and mean of me. Simple. You ever create something and someone comes along and tries to play in the world you built? You get a little possessive. And when those newcomers force their frivolous ideas onto your world, you becomes even more possessive and jaded. Marketing needs to stick to marketing and stay and stay out of the creative world.
  19. The one night I’m finally able to sleep. Universal is twittering away at 3:30 in the morning. *facepalm*
