HHN Hollywood 2010 Speculation

Recommended Posts

29 minutes ago on twitter Mr. John Murdy tweeted this:

"HHN 2010 Update - finished the creative for Terror Tram, so HHN conceptual design is complete. Look for 1st press release in mid/late June"

Is it wrong to say i soiled myself of excitment?

Hey! Good to see some familiar faces from the vault. I have a "REALLY" good feeling about The wolfman being at hhn. I mentioned this on the vault awhile back but when i met murdy recently he said he's pretty sure we will wolfman in some shape or form at hhn. Either in his own maze or on terror tram. I hope we get at least 5 mazes.

We will get at least five mazes. We already know that just by counting how many maze updates there were.

I sincerely hope the Wolfman doesn't get phoned in with House of Horrors. I really want there to be a full-fledged WM maze! The environments would be a-maze-ing for a maze! ;)

FYI, My Bloody Valentine grossed $51 million at the box office. Wolfman grossed $61 domestically; even though it bombed. I guess more people like ol' Wolfie more than Harry.

Still havent seen the Wolfman. I wouldnt mind him having his own maze. They seriously need to "re vamp" HoH; its really tired.

Thanks for the welcoming guys.

I liked the movie...a LOT. The only thing was that it felt a bit choppy. Though I haven't seen the unrated/extended version yet, I would watch that since that would not have those important scenes edited out and there would be (I assume) MORE GORE!!!!:machinegun:

Yes, it does.. a little bit too much. Although if Murdy's team did want to give a nod to Leave it to Cleaver, it would be better to put it up on New York Street up in the part at that one deli facade. I'd see that as being a mini Meetz Meats, personally, I always think of that now when I pass it. But it probably wouldn't happen.

I liked the Unrated cut of the movie a lot better than the theatrical cut, it seems to make some things fit more and a little more complete feeling. Although that ballroom scene is in the deleted scenes section of the disc's features, at least it's there. Very much worth what it costs, and I still haven't seen the featurettes yet! Although for some reason it was having trouble trying to connect for the streaming presentation of the original Lon Chaney Jr. Wolfman.. they really should have made that its own disc in the set or something..

have yet too see the dvd release of Wolfman

seen the movie in theaters it wasnt BAD but wasnt Great

im just wondering what would really grab the GP attention

in example: Last year we had SAW, Michael, My Bloody Valentine and Chucky

the past two years before we had the BIG three Freddy Jason and Leatherface

now that we have 5 houses this year

who could we possibly be having

is there a hint that we may be having old charcters come a new like HHNO

or maybe someone will take over HHNH and bring there own terror to like (possible icon?)

in a way lets run it down like this

5 mazes

6-7 possible scarezones

longer Terror Tram

and 2 shows

lets get more clues and rumors in

not just Wolfy :D

I would want to see them all come back again as well, but I do agree with you... in the crowd of slasher-fan kids and young adults, the classics would be seen as a waste of time. There's most likely only a very small percentage of people that still like Universal's monsters and would appreciate it, but the rest would want the violent films they're used to. Looking at the HHNH Facebook every often, I've seen things like Scream, Hellraiser, NOES, among others being mentioned.. even some of those being repeated time and time again on the Vault.

But if there's one thing that Ripped from the Silver Screen showed me, is that even the old-timers can still be amped up to keep up with the newer creatures.

So yes, the classic monsters should be given their time to shine... and not just in the House of Horrors but in mazes of their own. I know the Creature from the Black Lagoon musical wasn't favored by a lot, especially some of the Vaulters, but it gave me a bit of optimism and I'd like to see him come back if even in a maze or a scarezone... although, missing that weird hair-like growth they gave him...

(And just for the heck of it, dust off the costume and use it as a meet-and-greet character for normal park hours year round too. If Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, or even a Mummy can be one what's wrong with a Gill-man, or Wolfman?)

At 5:00pm yesterday this is what John Murdy tweeted in response to a question,

"All of the scarezones have single word names...short, sweet and to the point"

And he said they are "churning out designs like crazy" all scarezone concepts and scareactors are finalizing

Sounds like we're getting more scarezones this year. Hopefully the park won't have so many dead spaces like in the years past.

Totally agree! And I cringe everytime I read what the GP writes on the HHNH FB page. While I do like SOME of the movies they mention, about 95% of it "bring back Freddy" or "The TCM maze was dope, bring it back!" Please people, we had those characters TWO YEARS IN A ROW! Let them RIP.

Couldnt agree more, theres so much dead space that could be utilized.

Seriously! If you even said, "Bring back such and such maze!" in Orlando, you would be hanged in CityWalk for attempting treason against HHN! Their side is, "Okay, what's the new theme and what are all the mazes going to be this year?"

Over on the Hollywood side, however, you have everybody saying, "Bring back Jigsaw, Michael Myers!" which just makes me want to cry. Almost EVERYBODY on there wants repeats. Halloween and SAW were good mazes but seriously, THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE!!! Le Murdy and his creative team move on to all-new franchises and original ideas and leave the legacy of repeats to Knotts. Heck with HHN doing all-new stuff now Knott's may not have as many repeats to compete with HHN.

People are just to used to repeats for haunted attractions in So Cal, I guess. They have Knott's, I'm assuming Queen Mary Shipwreck (never been to that one), Six Flags Fright Fest, Scream Zone in Del Mar (only thing that seems to change there is the layout of the Haunted Hayride) and possibly the Frightmare on Market Street stuff down in San Diego. So, basically, everything around here is a constant repeat year after year and the public is just too used to that. Like how they all want to have the same franchises to be at HHN, but they will not see the acceptance of what makes HHN Orlando much greater: all original ideas and things they haven't seen before. We saw a taste of it in the event's return, and it needs to be done more... only one movie based maze and the rest being original ideas. I mean I understand that Hollywood is a movie park and all, but we can't have all movies for the mazes.. it just would make things repetitive, old, stale.. mix it up with one year being all movie-themed, another year all-new original content. At least, that's what I'd prefer...I'd still go no matter what, but parts of it would just seem dead or annoying to me. If they can make a couple of original ideas for scarezones, why not mazes too?

On top of that, I want to know why there are so much chainsaws in the Hollywood event while there's only one team for it in Orlando. There were like ... what... four... five spots with chainsaws in Hollywood last year? It just came off as obnoxious and cheap to me for chainsaws to be EVERYWHERE. Have a Chainsaw Drill Team, too, sure... just flooding the event with them is just ridiculous.

Don't mean to offend, it's just my opinion..

Offended? You gotta be kidding! My thoughts exactly!

I am happy that Murdy is doing at least one original theme for a maze this year; I really hope they go more along the lines of focusing more on original concepts in the near future. Though there are some franchises I would reeeeally love to be translated into a maze (Wolfman, Scream, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Hannibal, possibly the upcoming My Soul to Take.), they need to make the main focus on completely original themeing. That's what makes Orlando so great.

As for the chainsaws they need to have only one chainsaw scarezone; no more than two. It was getting to the point where I couldn't escape the fumes from them! EVERY scarezone except Shaun and Freakz had them! Ridiculous! I hope for less chainsaws and more old-fashioned scaring!

Couldnt agree more with everything! While I do enjoy the movie themed mazes, I'm dying for some orginal concepts like 2006's "The Asylum." I loved that maze, and it was scary as hell IMO.

As for the chainsaws I too find them to be obnoxious. I never found them scary, just really annoying, especially when theres 3 SZ that contain them. And lets not forget about that gut wrenching smell. I can understand ONE SZ containing them, or maybe even a CDT, But anymore than that is just ridiculous.

Hello everybody, I am from the vault which sadly isnt working anymore. I found this website an am ready to starting talking about HHN again ;)

Welcome! You should start an intro thread over on our Member Introductions sub-forum ;)

Edit: Beat me to it haha. Let the HHNH speculating resume!

I wish I could get a chance to check out HHNH. Sounds like it's a lot of fun. I probably watch more HHNH videos every year to compare it to the one we've got over here in O-town. I hear it's not as great, but it would definitely be cool to experience at least once.

Not to continue the off-speculation discussion, but the Terror Tram is a really cool attraction to HHNH that Orlando doesn't have. ;) You should definitely come over here to Tinseltown and check out our event if you have the chance; not quite as festive as Orlando yes, but it is worth seeing!

Terror Tram is definetly one thing we have over Orlando. Although IMO it can be amped up a little. I'm just sayin.

I think it will since it will be extended this year.

According to Screamscape, it seems like HHN Orlando construction has already started! I don't think it should be that long before that PR comes out...COME OUT ALREADY!
