Halloween Horror Nights haunt ideas

This is the Universal park where all the events take place.

Overall

This ditches the outdated and kinda irrelevant studio theme that only really works on Hollywood. Rather it’s akin to Islands of Adventure. Look at the very Universal logo itself. Why not have it themed as a trip through the world itself? Alternatively, the theme could that be of time itself, with Doc Brown serving as the park’s mascot.

Universal’s Harbor of Adventure

The entry plaza. It kind of ties all the lands together aesthetically. Characters representing each land (but NOT from those lands itself) are present.

• One idea for presentation; is that it starts off mundane and low key; but the design grows more grand and fantastic as you go on; eventually leading to…

• The world tree. Inspired by Yggdrasil; it’s not really a real tree, but a big ol mess representing the lands you are about to go to.

• The Enchanted Oak Tavern would be present but with a different interior as it’s not in an medieval setting.

Jurassic Park

Overall the land is pretty identical to Orlando’s; however the scenery (or specifically the greenery) would be emphasized and the land may be longer if Pteranodon Flyers is a ride here (so that the ride isn’t so short).

• Jurassic Park River Adventure is a hybrid of Orlando (overall ride design; second floor of building) and Hollywood (Falling Jeep, Canopy and entrance, T-Rex at roof).

• Camp Jurassic and Discovery Center would remain identical to Orlando.

• Japan’s version of Jurassic Outfitters has an animatronic raptor; this park steals that.

• Dino Encounter features a variety of Dinos like Raptors and Triceratops, each week or day focusing on a different set.

• The restaurant for this is themed to the center of the earth itself.

Egypt Timey Wimey

Storyline for the area is that a strange time paradox caused by a meteor caused the various ages of Egypt from various points in time to clash. So you’ll see explorers from the 1930s speaking with royals from the Old Kingdoms while decrepit tombs and grand palaces co-exist. In actuality this is just an excuse to not be specific with what the land should look like.

• For all the attractions in this land, the various storylines and settings depend on which point of time the attractions are set in.

• The water ride first takes a trip on the Nile River then descends into a drop. Either it transports guests into a world of mysticism or it takes them back into the Kingdom; a historical tour.

• Either a haunted house or a Poseidon’s Fury style walk though; the storyline follows: hh1 is set in a museum ransacked with the army of the dead, hh2 is set in the Oasis of Ahm Shere where the Scorpion King and Anubis’s army waits, and hh3 takes guests into the Egyptian Underworld itself.

• Revenge of the Mummy opened after 2004 in this; and is an original take that doesn’t repeat scenes from the Florida and Hollywood versions. Maybe it’s in a museum, maybe a tomb.

• The restaurant for this is based in the Egyptian Palace itself. Grand architecture with high ceilings, giant statues lining the walls, exquisite food.

• An actual museum of sorts would be present here. Either it showcases exotic animals associated with Egypt, actual Egyptian artifacts or props from the Mummy and Scorpion King movies.

• Stage show either follows an historical storyline like Rome’s conquering of Egypt or a fantastical one like the stories of Sekhmet and Set.

Universal Horror or the Old World

Overall land takes you back into the worlds of DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA & THE WOLFMAN. 19th century, villages and dark streets.

• Castle Dracula is an land in of itself; with either a haunted house or Poseidon’s Fury walkthrough exploring the corridors of the Count’s home and a water ride underneath taking guests down the murky depths as a homage to the defunct Wildwood attraction.

• Wolfman Woods is a roller coaster down an forest where it simulates you either being chased by a werewolf or as a werewolf yourself prowling the countryside.

• The Musical Show is set in an opera house and houses either a musical adaptaing THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA or FRANKENSTEIN. Instead of a traditional theme park stage show which is normally a 30 minute show done repeatedly, this one has 30 minutes acts throughout the day; eventually leading to an ending, then it repeats itself until the show really ends.

• The restaurant is themed on a Classic Monster not showcased in the other attractions (except the Mummy). Or it’s an original place that still is appropriate for the gothic mood for the rest of the event.

Amity Village

Overall land and JAWS is identical to the Orlando and Osaka versions.

• Amity Landing Restaurant is the same as Osaka’s
• Instead of carnival games though, we get carnival rides here homaging either lesser known or hard to translate IPs like the Blues Brothers.

• A classic dark ride haunt is themed to Chucky of the Child’s Play series. Brad Dourif reprises his role.

New York

Overall land is not a replication of New York like the other parks. Here New York is a war zone with super villains rioting and super heroes fighting and protecting. The vibe wouldn’t be depressing but the architecture would still be gnarled, smashed, and broken.

• The Amazing Adventures of Apider-Man is identical to the IOA version.

• Xavier Institute is either a 3-D Movie like Terminator or an actual ride (probably a Top Spinner). Storyline is either the Danger Room has gone berserk, a Sentinel is on a rampage, or Magneto crashes the party.

• Fantastic Four would be set in the Baxter Building and features a Reed experiment gone wrong.

• Either King Kong Encounter or Kongfrontation is recreated exactly as they were from the original parks they came from.

• Same thing with Safari Outfitters with Kong prop. And Finnegan’s.

• Of course this would be the place of a Marvel comic shop.

• The Big Apple eatery is either a homage to New York or is set in a LITERAL big apple caused by super powered hijinks. May involve giant insects.

Hill Valley Timey Wimey

Once again, the storyline is that weird time shenanigans happened. In actuality, this is to avert the problem with time; so that it stays relevant.

Characters like Medieval Knights, Samurai, 80s teenagers coexist and interact.

Overall land however is faithful to the version of Hill Valley from 2015.

• Back to the Future the Rollercoaster uses actual sets for the coaster sequences.

• E.T. Adventure is set as a spaceship mission and is more technically impressive than the other ones.

• 3-D Movie may feature JAWS or another film relevant to the lore of BTTF.

• Cafe 80s recreates the movie’s restaurant but with a bigger arcade and actual waiters (using the movie’s digital ones would be both creepy and impractical).

Press release for the “World of Fear”

(This Universal theme park) invites guests to its first ever Halloween Horror Nights, the most frightening cavalcade of haunted houses, terror filled streets, and spectacular shows this side of (whatever country this is).

The Guest Experience: Discovering the World of Fear

By day, (This Universal park) is a wondrous trip down the very world itself. But by night, the world has been turned upside down. In the “World of Fear”; all of its glamorous countrysides such as Jurassic Park, Egypt, Universal Horror/The Old World, Amity, New York and Hill Valley have been sent into the dark depths and emerge as twisted dark parodies of themselves. Each land contains hundreds of scare actors and set pieces to convey a dark mirror where the nightmares reign supreme. And within each land lies haunted mazes, conveying scenes of terror and brutality that are sure to keep you tingling.

Another notable attraction is the “Hayride of Screams”, which takes guests on a hay-filled wagon ride out of the park and into a journey down the road which features hundreds of set pieces and scareactors to give guests a frightful evening.

Side A- Presenting the gruesome festivities is the insidious Jack the Clown. Jack, an undead spirit in greasepaint form, knows what goes bump in the night, as he warps the landscapes of wonder and awe into those of shock and terror.

Side B- Overseeing the gruesome festivities is the decrepit, grisly personification of death itself. The Caretaker, a tall man in a dark suit with white hair, knows what evil lurks in man’s heart as he unleashes a horde of monsters and killers to take over Universal. His cold dead eyes glare at guests from hidden corners as they traverse through the warped landscapes of the World of Fear. Beware of the rusty oversized shears he wields.

Side C- Overseeing the gruesome festivities is Biff Tannen, the famous movie villain from the “Back to the Future” series. Biff Tannen once knew how it was to take the spotlight and now he has found a way. Hijacking Doc Brown’s time travel inventions, he now rules the show as hundreds of evil beings from different timelines have taken over their respective own little worlds.

Scary Streets

Enter the Dark World (Universal’s Harbor of Advenrure)

The fright fest begins as guests pass through the gates into the “World of Fear”.  Freaks of nature hide in the alcoves amongst bloodthirsty killers waiting to attack fresh meat walking through as they are immersed in the grim atmosphere and foreboding atmosphere. At the end of it, guests come across the familiar world tree. But something’s wrong- there lies hundreds of corpses hanging by the branches, some freshly bleeding, others rotted.

Jurassic Carnage (Jurassic Park)

Jurassic Park started out as such an innocuous but innovative experience- dinosaurs from way back when brought back to life using cutting edge scientific technology; available for all guests to see. But things went horrendously wrong and now the more dangerous dinosaurs have overrun the entire area, turning it into an hunting ground. Guests will have to watch their backs as Velociraptors, Dilophosaurus, and other hungry carnivores prowl the vines and leafs, awaiting the chance to strike and devour the flesh of hapless guests. Some poor fools thought it was a good idea to merge their blood with Dino DNA and have merged into twisted Dino-human hybrids.

Rise of Imhotep (Egypt Timey-Wimey)

They thought they sealed him in that god forsaken tomb for all time, they thought the threat may not come to pass… they were mistaken. Now Imhotep; the former High Priest of Hamunaptra, has risen back from the dead and used the full powers of the Hom-Dai curse to plunge Egypt into darkness. Mummies, from the classic “bandages and wrappings” type to the elite Soldiers arming themselves with spears and khopeshes, walk free under Imhotep’s command on the warped wasteland. Daily rituals are performed, unfortunate victims either being mummified alive or having their heart ripped open to be judged by Imhotep.

Monster Mash (Universal Horror/The Old

World)

It’s a party down in the old times as classic monsters of Universal’s library of horror films have been ripped from the films and into guests’ own reality. Count Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster and Bride, the Invisible Man, and The Phantom of the Opera are among the many monsters dancing in the cobblestone streets. Dracula’s own brides fly from the air to snatch new blood from guests, and the Wolfman hides in bushes, jumping out where they least expect it.

Aquatic Nightmare (Amity)

Amity the otherwise quaint little town has been going through some hard times, first a series of shark attacks in the late 70s sent attendance plummeting, now it has been the forefront of strange subterranean activity. The entire town has been overrun by both paranormal activity and strange undersea creatures. Ghostly sailors moan and sing demented sea shanty’s as giant aquatic freaks of nature apparently can run amok on land just fine.

New York Under Siege or the Rotten Apple (New York)

The ruthless Carnage/Mystique/Green Goblin has organized a mass breakout of the most savage Marvel super villains to take over the entire city of New York for themselves. The superheroes are nowhere to be found; either fighting offscreen or already haven been taken out. The streets are littered in debris and demolition, cars and buildings struck by gunfire and machinery. Characters like the Hobgoblin fly in the air and shoot bombs to the sky, creating hellfire.

Biff Tannen’s Hell Valley (Hill Valley Timey-Wimey)

Biff Tannen once knew what it’s like to be in the spotlight. First he once sent his younger self an ingenious plan to take over Hill Valley and become one of the richest men in America. Thanks to the efforts of a “Butthead” the plans were thwarted… but Biff found a new way. After stealing some precious machinery invented by Doc Brown, Biff has once again taken control of this city. Zombie bikers and Biff’s undead minions rule the city via shotgun, knives, and their own sharp teeth as a collection of the best metal/rock tunes permeate the area. Biff’s visage looms over the area via screens and neon signs.

Terrifying Mazes

JP: Extinction (Located in Jurassic Park)

In-Gen unknowingly has been having some dark secrets within. A lead scientist in the genetics field, under coercion by Biff Tannen/a clown/ a man with a top hat in his dreams, was performing unauthorized experiments combining Dino and human DNA. The experiments… sorta worked; with the humans transforming into half-dinosaur beasts, that can tear humans and concrete alike while eating wherever may come. The mad doctor eventually injected himself with the hybrid serum and organized a mass power failure in the park. Now guests can step inside the facility where the experiments were being held and where it’s “patients” still reside.

Captain Spaulding’s Museum of Torture (Located in Amity)

The strange going ons in Amity is not enough to quell Captain Spaulding from “House of 1000 Corpses”; in fact this is the type of anarchy and weirdness he gets his kicks from. His brand new “Museum of Torture” is open for all guests to see; where recreations of famous tortures of history like the acts of the French Revolution and what you would see back then in the Middle Ages. Once they step further in, guests soon realize some of them aren’t “actor’s”, they really ARE being tortured alive. Captain Spaulding’s henchmen will ensure that the guests will “participate” in the gruesome scenes, some as victims, others as torturers.

Maximum Carnage or 7

Side A- Some of the super villains have made their bay within the hidden areas of New York. From crusty and abandoned warehouses to the slimy and dingy sewers, they don’t take kindly to the odd wanderer or explorer. Carnage/Mystique/Green Goblin is the head of operations here, and they don’t exactly carry a code of honor nor decency. Guests will have to flee for the lives from super villains like Scream, Dormammu, and the Mole Man as the super heroes won’t be here to save the day.

Side B- Pride. Greed. Wrath. Envy. Lust. Gluttony. Sloth. These are the seven deadly sins as recorded in the Bible, and man has unfortunately fallen under these spells throughout history. But there is a legend that these aren’t just mere ideas, rather that there are a group akin to spirits, that are the living embodiment of these vices residing in a world not seen by ordinary eyes. The gateway to said world has been open, and guests can finally come face to face with what may be a mirror image of themselves.

(Depending on the Icon) Jack’s Fearhouse, Screamhouse, or (?)

Side A- This version of the Big Top has all manners of freaks and sideshows displayed for people of all ages! Jack the Clown serves as Ringmaster for this perversion of a funhouse; filled with dizzying sights of wonder and bewilderment. Monstrous Clowns and Phantom Harlequins pop in and out from all directions and the walls are plastered with vintage carnival memorabilia.

Side B- The old house near Shady Oaks Cemetery has been abandoned for quite some time after it’s burning via an angry mob. The funeral home was once the site of terrible acts of murder, dissection, and cannibalism under the eye of Albert Caine, the former Caretaker of the cemetery. Legends say that the Caretaker and his servants survived the arson, and that horrific acts still continue in that house to this day. Guests foolishly step in the decrepit house and find out for themselves that the legends were accurate, as the Caretaker and his followers strike and maim in the dirty hallways.

Side C- Doc Brown is not having a good night, thanks to the tomfoolery caused by recurring villain Biff Tannen. Guests will have to join Doc Brown on a frightfully thrilling chase as Biff subjugates them into a blast into the past in various places of the world. Guests will have to dodge the swords of evil samurai, and gunfire from zombie soldiers.

Marquee Attraction

Hayride of Terror: Exploration of Hell

The marquee attraction of Halloween Horror Nights. Guests will climb aboard the hayride and venture in an expedition where they explore the uncharted territories of the “World of Fear”.  Guests will have to watch their backs as hordes Zombies, Mummies, Dinosaurs, etc. hide within the dark recesses of the forested pathways.

Bloodcurdling Shows

(Depending on the Icon) Jack’s Funhouse, A Gothic Night with the Caretaker, or Biff Tannen’s Halloween Party

Side A- The circus is here with Jack serving as the Ringmaster.

Side B- Are you ready to meet the Caretaker? The Caretaker aside from being a murderer is also quite a captivating lecturer, speaking diatribes about the nature of death and how to cut someone to pieces. And he has plenty of “participants” to give guests a visual demonstration.

Side C- Exotic dancers and death defying stunts are all the rage in this party hosted by none other than Biff Tannen!

Rivers of Blood

The horrors of Halloween Horror Nights come to life upon the very waters of Universal. Water mist projections, fountains, fireballs, and physical sets combine to create one fantastic yet brooding spectacle.

Press release for “World of Fear II”

Once again, fear has taken over Universal. Guests can rejoin the insane circus named “Halloween Horror Nights”, the 2nd year of this demented collection of scary mazes, haunting street experiences, thrilling but chilling shows, and an new and improved hayride tour down the darkness.

(This Universal park) will offer an revamped vision of the “World of Fear”; here it is an cavalcade of different lands throughout history; the bloodied and gruesome history that is.

The Guest Experience: Discovering the new World of Fear

(This Universal park) completely changes the concept of the “World of Fear”, the overall realm where all of the haunted attractions reside.

The streets, buildings, and landscapes of the daytime Universal park are distorted into a gory look of the various and important times of the Prehistoric Era, Ancient Egypt, Medieval Europe, 1970s-1980s era New York City, and the future previously only glimpsed at the previous “Terminator” film entries. The bleakness, hideousness, and cruelty of these eras shall be brought into modern eyes in all of the street experiences prepared for Halloween Horror Nights. Mazes shall serve as a deeper look in the unholy mayhem hidden behind palace and castle walls.

An all new “Hayride of Terror” shall serve as an extension to the World of Fear, taking guests into other horrible times of history.

The host for this expedition of evil is The Explorer. Columbo Magellus was a self-proclaimed adventurer who sailed the sea, and travelled to many lands… and found the debauchery or anarchy within. Enthralled by the horrors he found on land, The Explorer relishes his role as guests’ “tour guide” as he takes them down a journey into the darkest periods of civilization within the World of Fear.

Scary Street Experiences

Enter the Dark World (Universal’s Harbor of Adventure)

The harbor at Universal is hosting an “expo” of various civilizations from different parts of the World of Fear. Guests will step out of the relative safety of daylight and into the malefic forces of moonlight as their expedition begins. The many trinkets and artifacts representing each land is truly awe-inspiring but the corpses on public display; most mutilated and some spiked; is chilling to the core. Once they make it to the plaza’s center; they find a gaudy display of indulgent vices and horrible acts of murder flaying their eyes! Beware Explorers, the history lesson has now commenced!

Primeval Nightmare (Jurassic Park)

Many films, books, shows and other forms of fictional entertainment have a common tendency to portray the Prehistoric era as one filled with dumb caveman and rampaging dinosaurs. But few take notice of the more versatile and meaning creatures that used to live in this era. Well they all live within the leaf and vine filled valleys of this jungle like setting, from the slinking arthropleura; giant millipedes up to 8.5 ft long; to the gargantuan snake Titanboa; which will crush you to death if you’re not careful. You may not have to hide from the dinosaurs, but that still doesn’t guarantee you’ll make it out alive.

Pharoah’s Fury (Egypt Timey-Wimey)

The grand palaces and walls of Ancient Egypt cannot mask the horrors within. Brutal punishments, labor, and murder is daily life here under the reign of Pharaoh Nakhmenkara; who made a deal with the more insidious gods to grant him power to rule Egypt with an iron fist. His guards; wearing hideous masks representing important or creepy figures in Egyptian Mythology; ensure that the slaves work to their fullest health be damned. Those who disrespect the Sun god are publicly burned alive as a warning to potential disbelievers and others found “guilty” of so called crimes are treated this way until proven innocent are subject to all kinds of public (and brutal) execution.

Knights of Hell (Universal Horror/The Old World)

Medieval Europe is following the new “religion” under the newly appointed Churcy of Demonity. For centuries; since the very dawn of time; the Devil has been waiting patiently, collecting the souls of mortals and adding them to the pits of his kingdom either as slaves or harbingers of evil. With the newfound rise of worship to his truly in Europe, his power and influence increases ten fold. The castles, villages, and streets are blanketed under under thick layers of ice; the air deathly cold; meanwhile the knights brutally enforce loyalty to the “church”, themselves having been transformed into demonic beasts, as the villagers either are tortured for disloyalty or attack guests themselves with axes, crossbows, and swords.

The Big Rotten Apple (New York)

The city of New York as it stands now has become one of the biggest metropolises in the whole world. It’s easy to forget that once New York was the foreground of decadence and crime in the 70s and 80;s; with criminals and psychotics (some wearing badges) running loose in the streets. Guests can travel back in time and see for themselves the depravity from that time… and more. Gangsters with their faces turning skeletal, hoodlums with burned flesh, zombie cops, and mutants from the sewers parade in the dirty and run down streets. The city never sleeps indeed… and neither do it’s residents. And if you’re not careful; you’ll never sleep again.

Terminator: Skynet Wins (Hill Valley Timey-Wimey)

Skynet, the former computer system turned homicidal artificial intelligence, wages war on humanity in the distant and very bleak future. Guests will have to walk through a battlefield filled with hordes of skeletons and debris; with remnants of the civilization that used to stand on this earth, while the battle between man and machine is at hand. The broken wreck provides plenty of hiding spots for the killer robots under Skynet’s command; most commonly the terrifying and skeletal cyborgs armed with guns. The resistance is here; but most have been taken out by Skynet.

Terrifying Mazes

Atlantis (Jurassic Park)

Atlantis was once an civilization who’s debauchery and anarchy cost it the favor of higher powers and so it was sunk down to the very depths of the sea; never to return. Sea miners and adventurers have tried for centuries to discover if the lost kingdom really did exist, but to no avail. In truth; the ruins of Atlantis lies deep within the center of the earth; guarded by a gauntlet of horrific beasts from the underworld; and the depraved citizens and rulers still have not passed on; their rage allowing them to prevail as wraiths. Guests will be lost in a labyrinth of grand beautiful ruins marred by the greedy inhabitants of Atlantis waiting in the halls.

The Explorer’s Lair (Amity)

The S.S. Columbo has returned from the oceans since it’s sinking after the atrocities by its Captain finally caught up to him. The once magnificent vessel now stands as a derelict shell of its former self, many of its architecture rotted away along with the artifacts the captain took from the lands he sailed to. Speaking of; many of the artifacts actually are cursed and the curses have spread to the whole ship.

The Sewer of Despair (New York)

As anarchy reigns on the streets, citizens try to hide in the underground realm for shelter. But alas the horror continues down there; as all kinds of freaks dwell in the sewers below New York. Mutants, rodents mutated from toxic waste, serial killers, deranged vagrants, the list goes on.

Terminator: Future of Death (Hill Valley Timey-Wimey)

It is war and guests are in the crossfire! The rebels use all in their power to combat against the tyrannical Skynet and their cyborg goons; but the enemy force is just too strong! Skynet has created a new Terminator to keep the tides in their favor called the T-1000, engineered to change his form into a liquid state; granting him the power to alter his appearance as well has manipulate his shape to form menacing scythes of death.

Marquee Attraction

Hayride of Terror: Expedition of Evil

Guests can climb on the hay-filled wagon once again as it takes them down a ride to discover the other eras and places within the World of Fear; this time, Columbo Magellus aka “The Explorer” will personally host the marquee attraction. The Explorer is familiar with the dark forces and practices he experienced while sailing the sea, even after he payed for his crimes, The Explorer lives on; eager to share his knowledge with anyone who comes to this demented history lesson. The darkness of the land will serve as a “home” to the citizens of the bloodied and gruesome eras of past, present, and future founded by the Explorer; and the citizens will happily take what they get from the ride. Get ready for the ride of your life… how long it lasts anyway.
