Halloween Horror Nights 25 Wishful Thinking

What other show would draw people in though? I can't think of anything. Make Bill and Ted a two part show?

I have said this elsewhere but I will repeat it here: Little Shop of Horrors, Repo: The Genetic Opera, The Devil's Carnival, Toxic Avenger: The Musical and Evil Dead: The Musical.

All are viable options, but they seem stuck in the rut that is RHPS at the moment.

Also, I posted this in HHN 24 Discussion but I guess it belongs here as well:

Bbased upon the 'What people are saying about HHN 24' email and the survey, smart money has TWD returning next year. I mean, why else would you include this specific quote: "Halloween and The Walking Dead houses were my favorite. I cried and screamed in both lol. Loved it!!" in your what people are saying email and be asking about TWD coming back for a fourth year on your survey?

Am I just off the mark or stuck in the past from wanting to see Sweeney Todd? I think that would translate well into a show. But it probably wouldn't draw a crowd like Little Shop of Horrors would. Classics will be classics

Edit: A house idea I was thinking about, Eli Roth's Green Inferno? But thinking about it, it would be a lot like Roanoke, just a different setting.

The problem with Sweeney Todd and Little Shop is that both shows are well-know musicals, and are only well known as musicals. They aren't raunchy fun-fests like RHPS and tonally their music doesn't jive with what the casual HHN fan wants to see. The best possible show to replace RHPS is "Evil Dead: The Musical: Abridged: HHN Edition - Remixed" (full title).

They're both phenomenal shows in their own right, but they would likely draw a smaller crowd than Rocky Horror. The only people who would make a point to see them are theater-geeks, and even then most will have seen both shows enough for it to be a low priority. Universal would be better served with a new, original show that would at least intrigue people to watch it.

I believe they will do at LEAST one of these houses:

  • HP Lovecraft House
  • Stephen King House
  • NOES House
  • Friday the 13th House
  • Icon house (kind of like 20 years of fear house but with strictly icons)

I believe they will bring slashers since Halloween has been a huge hit this year. Whenever I hear that I think of 2007 and then I remember that was 7 years ago. I feel like that was just a couple years ago! I know they have said before they will not bring back past icons, but it's 25 years. We also have never had a Lady Luck house or a Fear house. I'm thinking 4 IP and 4 Original but I would not be shocked if it got as crazy as 7 IP and 1 Original. Can we expect an icon for this year? Should we expect an icon this year?

Also I know it is a different country with different social views on what is appropriate and what is not, but does any one think they would ever make a house based off the house in Singapore called "Jing's Revenge" ? I know it is a HUGE stretch since it is about a school girl who committed suicide due to bullying and now as a ghost comes back to haunt people which is a pretty gruesome tale that even makes me a little uneasy. The thing is, this house seems so so so scary. It reminds me of the Orfan (which I loved). Also Singapore has a house/scarezone called Boogyman which is exactly what it sounds like: A scare zone with house-like resemblances. If you look at a video online of this zone it is literally the best thing I have seen at any HHN. There are major problems with it though: you can only enter one way (imagine this on peak night with people trying to go through the back entrance), you have enclosed scare zone which sort of is hazardous, and the only place I could think of that this would work is in the Alley (forgetting the name) or the back way of Central Park, which would also be a major problem for guests during the day and if they would take in props or keep them out. It is a very cool idea that I am praying for though!

I say we shouldn't expect one for next year, since icons have been put to rest ever since TWD came, and it's not going any time soon, unfortunately. While everybody hopes that WHEN TWD comes back again that it's not the main thing, let's face it. That house brings practically a quarter of the crowd, at least. If they can get tons of profit out of it, they'll keep doing it.

Has Stephen King been approached by HHN? I would assume yes but just wondering

I'm not sure if Universal has approached him, but King has made it known that he has no interest in licensing his works for haunts.

It makes me extremely sad to say that, but every year someone inevitable brings it up on King forums and so far, the answer is always a no.

One can hope that the 2015 It remake (they've been talking about a remake for so long that I don't trust the 2015 date) may see a possible house. Last I saw, NLC is doing the remake, and since we are discussing NLC properties already for next year, we can hope King will give in.

But then...

What do you do with Jack? If (big IF) Pennywise were to make an appearance at HHN, then I don't see Jack making appearance. He would be superfluous.

Not having Jack appear at the 25th Anniversary would seem "wrong". Not just for diehard fans, but for many in the GP who continue to ask for him back.

I don't believe Universal made any plans to do a Treehouse of Horror overlay.

Based on comments about this topic from other sites the most of it is that Disneyland can do overlays because the ride system is the same but they can just add decorations, swap out AAs, projections and music.

With The Simpsons you would need:

*completely new script with expensive voice actors

*completely new animated ride film and pre show

*completely new ride programming to match the new film

Except for the theming and upgrades they made from BTTF, that's the budget of the actual Simpsons Ride just for a seasonal overlay.

That's why they're unlikely to do one now. But during the development stage when the cast is already under contract and the film is already being animated, it's a lot easier to do. And the general thought is that it would match the motions of the day show, it would just be a new video.

Hey guys, I wouldn't necessarily bank on the NLC trio for next year. New Line only owns the rights to Freddy at this point. Jason's back with Paramount, and I believe Millennium Films owns Leatherface now? Not sure how that might impact using the characters as they appeared in the New Line films, but there're certainly some trickier legal areas now.

I honestly wouldn't mind the spec list Legacy posted a few pages back. It'd be a kickass event.

I think once the construction kicks up for KidZone and Twister within the next few months there's going to be a real need to use both parks again. A lot of house locations are going to become unaccessible and if they want to add another house, they're gonna need 2 parks.

I also like the idea of having an icon "host" a house.

Storyteller- Scary Tales 4

Director- NLC Trio in one house with a face off finale

Jack- 3D circus, not just clowns. If they wanted to/were allowed, AHS: Freak Show hosted by Jack.

Caretaker- I miss Screamhouse so i wouldn't mind a fourth version. if not, original morgue with him and Cindy as the new owners.

Usher- Universal Palace Theater. No movie mashup house.

Lady Luck- the casino house that should've happened in 2011.

FEAR- original backstory house

Bloody Mary- Reflections of Fear 2: Let's Try That Again

New icon original house

^definitely won't happen. More realistic prediction:

TWD: Dedder than Ever

AHS: Freak Show (As much as I want the first 3 seasons as houses, 4 REALLY different seasons in one house could potentially be weird. lus unless the house was like 20 scenes there'd be 2-3 scenes per season, and that's not enough, unless they'd want to do a dual run and have each house feature 2 seasons)

Insidious (Part 3 comes out next year and it's way more popular than Conjuring. Plus it's one of Hollywood's highest rated mazes of all time.)

Freddy vs Jason (don't know if it's possible, but after the crowds AvP's pulling, this is the way to go)

Horror Night Nightmares 2 (not actually called that but same concept)

Nightingales 2

Original

Ah. I was waiting for when the dual run house would come up. Surprised it took 3 pages to get there. I would love to see this happen but did HHN ever do a dual run house before? I'm not sure on the history of it or if it was the unicorn of houses?

They've done at least two (though I want to think it was three).

My Predictions:

* The event will feature all the icons of the past (Jack, Eddie, The Caretaker, Cindy, The Director, The Storyteller, The Usher, Lady Luck & Fear) along with the addition of a new icon

* Theme will have to do with "reopening the warehouse & releasing the past 25 years of fear".

* There will be less IPs & more OC

* The Walking Dead will have it's last run at the event in a scare zone

* The event (just for this year) will return to it's roots of originality

Houses (8)

  • Halloween 2
  • American Horror Story
  • another IP
  • Psychoscareapy house
  • H.R. Bloodngutz Presents: Scary Christmas 3D
  • Eddie house
  • 25 years house (like the one in HHN 20)
  • Urban Legends: Bloody Mary or El Cucuy - The Boogeyman

  • 2 original

  • Insidious
  • Frankenstein (2015 film)
  • Exorcist
  • Universal Classic Monsters house
  • H.R. Bloodngutz Presents: Scary Christmas 3D
  • 2 all new original houses

In a tweet made my Aieollo on the HHN Orlando page (a while ago) in response to a fan asking about the icons, he replied with something along the lines of: Next year is the 25th year, it's a big milestone, who knows?! ;)So we're most likely going to see the icons of the past in some shape or form
