Corps

“The War to End All Wars” has left a swathe of destruction through battle-torn France, and on French Street at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights, World War I-era soldiers have returned from the dead. The constant artillery bombardment has turned the twisted network of trenches into a sprawling graveyard, and now “The Lost Generation” is rising from their muddy graves and coming home to haunt the streets of “old Paris.”

Mask-A-Raid

Masquerade Balls were a staple of the social calendar in pre-Revolutionary War France; a time for the members of the French aristocracy to misbehave behind the cover of elaborate, jeweled masks. But “mask-a-raiding” among the powdered and perfumed party-goers are members of a blood thirsty cannibal cult. Bon appétit!

Goulz

Ghoulz-387x600.jpg

In 19th century France, restrictive laws and social norms prevented medical colleges from acquiring the one asset they need most – human cadavers. To solve this “body shortage crisis,” universities employed “unsavory characters” to do their dirty work and steal corpses from cemeteries in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, the grave robbers on Universal Studios Hollywood’s French Street have developed a morbid fascination with the dead – and a taste for human flesh

I like the backstory and the look of Crops (watch them change it to corpz) over mask-a-raid but story does not mean sh*t for a SZ and Mask-A-Raid is what sticks out the most. It's cool they didn't go with the cliché and made them vampires the cannibal cult thing is unique so that's where my vote is going.

I think the character design is eh for ghouls compared to it's backstory. I feel like I seen that character before too many times, well I hope they release more concepts before I decide to vote as far as environment... I wouldn't count on too much for either you know for ghoulz and Mask-A-Raid they are gonna use the same Black Death props we always see but I'm sure lighting will pay a big part in Mask-A-Raid and Corps.

I think I'm going with mask-a-raid. I agree that Ghoulz has the best story, but that's not going to show much in the scarezone and honestly the character looks kind of...boring. I feel like Mask-A-Raid would be the best scarezone character design wise. Corps would probably have the better props.

It's hard to judge with one piece of concept art and a description but I think Mask A Raid would have the best variety of costumes. Since costume parties are about everybody looking different rather than looking generically drab or in uniform.

It's also the most "French" looking of them all. Unless you are a hardcore fan of WW1 miltary garb, most of the uniforms look the same. The ghoulz could be from anywhere in Europe. But Mask A Raid seems the most French.

Interesting that the most likely one to win features a "cannibal cult." Again I have no idea what it means, but it is interesting.

Mask-A-Raid: This is my first choice as it would have great costumes, a great backstory, and potential for good lighting and props. Like Rides said, the backstory is not going to show in the maze, so it should be all about what's going to show. If this wins, I really hope they have new props. I'm getting sick of seeing the carriage and the meat stands. I hope this is the case for all of the potential scarezones.

Corps: This is another good one. It would be cool to make it feel like a literal warzone like Orlando's from 2009. Judging by the backstory, I don't think they would do that. It would be awesome to see new props.

Ghoulz: This is by far the most generic and bland concept of the three. If this wins, I weep for the future of event creativity. I will set my computer on fire and then toss it out the window.

Of the three availible, I'd personally go for Corps since you don't see too many warzone kind of scarezones. Though there is something that worrys me about this whole thing. Since all three themes are geared for French Street, it feels like it's easily interchangable and the only real differences would be the costumes, soundtrack and possibly lighting. Prop-wise...it unfortunately could be the same for all three choices, even worse it could just be what that street has always had for years.

Quite frankly, the same can be said for all the scare zones in the park which have relied on the same props for years. Step your game up Hollywood, different costumes isn't enough.

French street is typically a very dark street and when Witchez was there it was hard to tell the difference between scareactor and park guest. Mask-a-Raid would be a perfect fit to the street and the costumes appear to be on a lighter side so they should be more visible to fellow scareactors and park guests

Same here voted for corps. I just need to know what is so scary about mask a raid? I think any scarer wearing those big white wigs is just humorous and won't be taken seriously. I mean I get it, Its a cool different concept, but aren't people suppose to vote for something scary?
