HHN Hollywood 2014 Speculation

Recommended Posts

Dracula Untold surprisingly looks pretty good. From what they've shown, doesn't look like it can be translated well in a maze, but then again we only saw 2 minutes worth. Hopefully there are some cool environments and vampires in the cave he drinks the blood from.

If Dracula Untold gets a non-HOH venue, it should be a really interesting year along with AVP. I welcome the variety, assuming it is pulled off well. Other parks have done not so strictly horror concepts with varying results, and I think HHN can do it very well.

Untold is probably Empire. The earliest production talk was a maze for an unreleased movie, assumed to be The Purge. A movie that they had to see before they realized they could make a maze of. Both Orlando and Hollywood celebrated a pitch at the same time. With The Purge not becoming a maze, the unreleased movie is likely Dracula Untold. If it's a setting well known to horror fans, Dracula's castle fits perfectly. Michael Jackson has an album called Immortal. Hugh Jackman, a member of the X-Men, sang a song called Drink With me.

Now, is this HOH? It's not impossible. But it does not seem likely since the codename was changed due to a scene being cut out.

I think if a property like this, that can fit in HoH, comes up they just put it in there. Especially when it's rare for something to fit in HoH. Just about every year HoH has housed a Uni property. Just HoH, HoH featuring The Strangers, Chuckys Funhouse,Wolfman, UMR, and UMR 2.0. In 2010 we had vampires based on a comic and that was one of the best years for it.

Yeah, maybe they realized including the Malcolm scene would be too costly for an HOH overlay.

Wasn't Malcolm/Empire the very first codename released? Sounds like a Uni property would be the first done deal out of all of their properties.

I'm kinda disappointed, if it is Dracula Untold. As I've said before, I've been hoping for something other than vampires again in the HOH. Hopefully the rest of the lineup is more exciting. TWD returning for a third time is cool, but nothing I've been dreaming of. And AWIL, as cool as the Orlando maze looked, just doesn't click my "excite" button. And if the original maze is Route 66 themed, even though I have no idea what that entails, it just doesn't seem like a scary-good idea. That leaves 3 other properties for me that'll have to really win me over. I'm sure they can and will, but the "for sure" spec so far is kinda tame.

Did I miss the part in the Dracula Untold trailer where they go into Frankenstein's lab?

I must have missed that scene as well. But was in awe when he drank the blood chalice and hallucinated an encounter with Chucky and his bride in a room filled with toys!

Seriously though, I love the House of Horrors and can live with whatever incarnation it becomes. Dracula would be an OK fit and the cast will probably shine. My worry is the film will have many epic scenes worthy of a maze and this is supposed to be the reboot for Universal's original flagship horror properties. Not the best way to showcase it in HOH.

I agreee with you 100%. Vampires in HOH again is ehh not exciting. Having AWIL cool and all but yeah iit's not as exciting to me, I have to admit those puppets looks scary haha. But hopefully there's a paranormal house becuase I loved insidious last year.

Well let's think of it locationally:

Is Dracula Untold an appealing IP that would drive traffic to stay on the upper lot in Parisian Square?

Dracula Untold is a soundstage idea, but is it a freak out maze which is the maze going in a soundstage?

Is Dracula Untold small and cramped enough for the Mummy venue?

The 7th location is its last bet. But its not the super secret project - or maybe it is, and its just a lame super secret.

The 7th location would logically be in the backlot, thus requiring Universal to give HHN permission to build for a few months and use it. Which would be more likely if, say, it was a movie that the studio owned.

Yeah that's a really good point. ^ also of Dracula Untold were to be in its own soundstage then I would love to see the sets.

That IS a really good point, and depending on it's location on the backlot, we could get 2 scarezones down there. Like someone was saying, it would be a wasted opportunity if The Purge isn't a backlot scarezone one year

The soundstage mazes of the past pre-hiatus weren't Uni properties... sooooo..... and so far, backlot usage has been given to Black Sabbath and The Walking Dead. Location is all about best suited for the facade/maze environments, not the affiliation.
