Grindhousehero13
honestly think about we called Walking Dead and Purge as a sure thing....but Walking Dead is a no brainer and we got totally proven wrong Murdy is just laughing at us with payback for last year watch us get nothing else right at all! ferox
Murdy said the sets alone for Alien would be astronomical (again could be a carny pun.) But AVP...would it?
Grindhousehero13
well put it this way Universal would still have to pay for two different rights with AVP.

DTH316
Astronomical.... that IS a carny pun. Holy crap, how did we not see that before? Its begging for someone to say "I see what you did there" right after it. Did some digging. Murdy's language about Alien changes over the years. Just last year -- Horror Nights @HorrorNights 11 Jun 2013 @JoshtopusRex For example Alien meets everything but the environments\characters would be extremely difficult\expensive to reproduce Horror Nights @HorrorNights 5 Nov 2010 @just_jevon I knew the late Stan Winston and respect his work too much to do Alien without being able to pull off the creatures. Horror Nights @HorrorNights 12 Nov 2009 @dinoair Yeah I think Alien isn't possible for a maze. It was featured in the now defunct "Black Box" at Movieland Wax Museum years ago Horror Nights @HorrorNights 21 Oct 2009 @missinthia No we do deals with other studios. Has to be achievable in a live event (i.e. Alien would be impossible). He literally says it's impossible in 2009, then as time progresses, he only states the creatures need justice, then it turns into "that'd be hard and cost money." So is it possible in 2014 he found out that "yes, in fact, I can do this now!" I'm very 50/50 on this for now. Are there any more recent tweets regarding Alien? ferox
He's been silent on Alien/Predator recently. I just know what I will lose it if I get to experience two of the best aliens in one maze. I haven't heard many great things about the movie, but as a maze come on. That could be great.
DTH316
I know there was a crap load of predator spec last year when Sabbath was about to be announced. Maybe that got them thinking. I'll do some digging later
ferox
Early in the year Murdy said that the freak out maze was something that people have been asking for, and in a way not aware that they have been asking for it. I mean, AVP could fit that bill.

I haven't heard many great things about the movie, but as a maze come on. That could be great. Yea I don't mind when they do films that didn't do well critically. Apparently HOTC was crap, but it seems to have made a great maze. I really hope AVP ends up coming that would be amazing.
ferox
I think that with HHNO's ability to make AWIL so great with mostly puppets, it opened a new door for the xenomorphs. Xenomorphs would be a casting nightmare due to size (you have to be really skinny to make it work) and that giant tail might make resetting a nightmare. Ridesandstuff
Yea. I think they'll probably end up making puppets similar to The Thing and LL. I hope they don't do anything like mia in the cellar scene though. I really hated how that prop looked, it was the only thing I didn't like about that maze. DTH316
Oh God... the "animatronics" and puppets in Evil Dead were absolutely atrocious. Yeah, maybe Murdy should rethink this one...
Grindhousehero13
To be fare they were horrible because they were things that didn't need to be puppets/animatronics the only exception being the chainsaw to the face abomination

DTH316
My spec list (based on location): - Dracula: Untold (HOH) - Unknown "Appealing" IP (Parisian Square) - The Conjuring (The Mummy) - American Werewolf in London (JP) - The Walking Dead (Metro Set) - Alien vs. Predator/The Exorcist (SS 747) - Original Maze (Soundstage) Edited June 15, 2014 by DTH316
Ridesandstuff
Maybe a 2014 film? That's the only thing I could see filling the possible 7th maze slot. Unless the found a way to get AHS which is pretty unlikely. Edited June 15, 2014 by Ridesandstuff
ferox
So if From Dusk Till Dawn was canceled for unknown reasons in Orlando (not wanting to do two vampire mazes?), we can assume that Robert Rodrigez was in contact with USH. Now following the Hispanic demographic trend that the major SoCal Haunts have been found of but with no workable legend, attempting to create an original story with the contributions of Robert Rodrigez might be the best path. And it could be a musical contribution since Robert has created soundtracks before.
HigbeeHaunt
Just watched AWIL maze from HHNO and the pub facade would be perfect in the Parisian Square location. Plus if AWIL is Soap Commercial then the treatment is 47 pages which makes it another fit for that location. Either way I'm starting to get stoked for this year, especially if we get any of the other stuff speculated.
SomethingCreative123
Robert Rodriguez "Predators"?
DTH316
AWIL was originally designed for the JP queue, plus Soap Commercial (which most assume is attached to it) has been said by Murdy to be the JP queue (unless I'm just making that up in my head -- I can never tell anymore). From Dusk Til Dawn's facade (The Titty Twister) would best fit either in a soundstage or in Parisian square, but I would not count FDTD as an appealing IP. The soundstage maze is also supposedly the one we're going to freak out over, and again, not FDTD. I'm sure Rodriguez could have some involvement this year, but I doubt it'll be with FDTD, especiallllyyyyy if we're also getting Dracula.

DTH316
Alright you guys, it's time for the annual BOX OFFICE LIST OF DOOOOOM. I think we need it this year more than ever to look at successful horror films we may have forgotten. For ease of viewing, I'll scratch out all the films that have been used, the ones that are super obviously not going to happen (i'll try to not be bias) and not include the films waaaaay down the list.
