HHN Hollywood 2014 Speculation

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm gonna do it...

I hereby declare all AVP & Predator spec DEAD. It is NOT happening and not moving the spec forward.

You can spec on Alien though. :-P Which is generous, since that's most likely not happening either. But at least it's more plausible.

The main reason Alien won't happen now, in case some of ya have missed it, is because of the COSTUMES. They'd be insane to produce. HHN makes brand new masks every night. So it's not just one costume they're making that they'll be using for the run, or even 2, or 3 for each scare actor... it's 20 just for ONE scare actor in ONE single scene. So imagine if there were, I don't know, 5 scenes with a xenomorph in it... that's at least 100 Alien heads, PLUS BACKUPS in case any of those don't work. Then, you'll need PREDATOR masks, which are just as much as insane as an alien head to make. With the mask on, not so much, but is that scary? What the HHN crowd wants to see is the mask-less Predator. AND THEN comes the issue of sets, and the issue of rights, which are probably way more expensive than the usual rights because Alien & Predator are super-mainstream. F13, NOES, TCM all might be popular, but Alien & Predator are like, 3 times more known -- despite the fact that people will be able to identify Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, or Myers first -- the producers probably still won't let those rights go away for cheap because how you gonna tell them their golden property isn't worth as much as they think?

And this year we're getting SEVEN mazes. Maybe back when this event was 3 or 4 and we had the budget we have now, but there's no way it's happening UNTIL they get a much bigger budget just for ONE maze which they'll be lucky if it drives people to the park (it would, but still a risk).

Hopefully I see it in my lifetime, as that would be one of the best mazes ever, but I can not foresee that happening in the near future.

K, I didn't read everything 'cause of my ADD. But HHN does not make new masks every night. They have new prosthetics every night, but not new masks.

Prosthetic-type masks would be the only way to do a xenomorph. Prosthetics on the side of the head, and mask-like giant prosthetic in the front and the back of the face. A over the top fitting mask would be too big and bulky looking, when aliens are more sleek. So that's basically what I meant! :)

Prosthetic? You're joking, right?

I was under the impression the xenomorphs for the most part would be puppets... doing that much makeup each night would be a nightmare and would cost a ton.

The AWIL puppets we had last year in Orlando were 1 of the most awesome creations I've seen at HHN.

Seems like the most plausible way to do it. Could reuse the think puppets like the did with La Llorona or they could do something similar to the snake heads in the previous Alice Cooper mazes. I'm honestly starting to consider it a possibility again as it's the only freak out property that is both time sensitive (video game/ awareness in general) and the only one we've been able to match up with a code...I dunno. I'm also willkin to eat a crow lol

Puppets, masks, holograms, genetic engineering does not matter Murdy has said it's to expensive to do. Would be awesome so would a Jaws maze if they figured that out does not mean it's gonna happen this year.

To be fair, he put emphasis on the sets. AVP could probably be done as it would basically involve the pyramid, but idk if it would be considered a freak out property.

Well yeah... There are a few ways freak out could be defined.

1. The ip is a huge name and will draw a crowd... for example Exorcist.

2. The ip itself isn't as huge in horror, but the house will be so great that as soon as you walk out, you may want to go back through... for example AVP (if done right)

3. The ip itself has been played out and no one wants to see it... for example TWD (for some of you)

So in reality, we already got 1 freak out property.

What big name in horror are we missing?

Another thing that possibly needs to be taken into account is that Orlando and Hollywood are both getting this property.

Someone believes Dracula Untold is coming to Orlando. Maybe that will be the Empire clue after all?

With the rumors of Alien going pretty strong in Orlando, for me Alien is certainly possible for Hollywood. Now I do recall Murdy tweeting that the budget for something like Alien would be "Astronomical", however with the way he tweeted that it didn't come off as "We're not doing Alien because the budget would be astronomical". He just simply stated that the budget would be astronimical.

The carny tricks can be pulled in simple statements, just like the infamous one that people bought hook, line and sinker about him working with Alice Cooper. All he tweeted was he'd love to work with him, but never met him in person. Now a whole lot of people thought a Alice Cooper maze was totally not happening, until the maze was announced and Murdy confirmed my thoughts. Sure, he never met him in person. Via phone and email was a whole 'nother story.

I just don't know what else it could be really. Someone should make a list of "freak out" properties

Pretty much on every list for most popular and scariest horror movies averages out to:

1. Exorcist (A possibility)

2. The Shining (won't happen)

3. Alien (Hopefully it happens)

4. Halloween (Already got it)

5. Jaws (Nope)

6. Poltergeist (last I read on here it's speculated for next year with the remake)

7. Psycho (not really freak out since we see Norman every year)

8. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (done)

9. Nightmare on Elm Street (done)

10. The Ring (Surprised how high it was on every list)

Considering how much Murdy freaked out over getting it and saying everyone else will freak out its hard to think it could be anything other than a big popular horror title. Any other properties you guys would add?

Well 6 IP and 1 original.

Here's some possibilities:

TWD - confirmed

Exorcist - We all know how much Murdy wants this maze

Trick r Treat - This could be the property that Murdy is after

Psycho - Unlikely but could still happen

Scream - Potential to be the freak out maze

AWiL - 50/50

Alien - High budget cost probably prevented this maze from coming to Hollywood

Cabin in the Woods - Unlikely but could happen

Dracula - most likely in Orlando too. Movie release this year

Army of Darkness - This could happen if Murdy goes hard core carny

Conjuring/Amityville - High awareness

Wait a second... what was the codename Murdy has been chasing for 3 years?

Scream 4 Your Life - 2011.

Couldn't get the rights to the Scream trilogy.

2011. 2012. 2013. THREE YEARS.

(Applies if it's Beauty is Skin Deep) Ding dong. In the infamous opening scene, Ghostface rings the doorbell only for Casey to reply "who's there?!" And Im sure there's model turned actresses with cameos and all that other crap all over that movie.

Or Ding Dong, Avon calling -- GHOSTFACE CALLS HIS VICTIMS.

AND JUST LIKE THAT, SCREAM IS BACK ON THE TABLE, BABY!

Dear lord, let it be true! I'm freakin out already! Pleaaaaaase! Its your time, Ghostface! Its - your - timeeee!

Scream has never been a maze property, so that could be carny.

But then again it is still (in Murdy's eyes, if you disagree take it up with him) lacking popularity, notable locations, and Ghostface still isn't scary.
