Freak
I'm not sure you understand what I was saying... I think he does. He never said Orlando can't do it. ferox
It's still a pretty huge budget, it just takes a ton of money to do the kind of stuff they do. When you produce that many custom masks and prosthetics instead of using Party City masks, it cost money. When you pay to keep a maze properly staffed instead of having three to five empty rooms per maze, it costs money.
Ridesandstuff
someone put together a video with some of the "ding dong avon calling" commercials. Maybe one of these could be helpful Edited April 17, 2014 by Ridesandstuff

Ridesandstuff
EDIT: Nevermind, mystiquephreeq already posted about this but since Alien has generally been dismissed as a possibility is there anything else that could connect to this? So about "Beauty is skin deep", has the Edward Scissorhands scene been mentioned as a possible clue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao2EaIt-PsE maybe Diane Wiest, Tim Burton, or the film in general leads to the property somehow Edited April 18, 2014 by Ridesandstuff

Ridesandstuff
i was thinking that for a little bit too, but it seems like theyre shocked to have gotten this property from the way Murdy has tweeted about it. Getting the original NOES for the 3rd time wouldnt be that much of a surprise
Grindhousehero13
People still think AMOK was Alien but after Murdy said today that it was really expensive and in 2012 they did have a smaller budget then as of current day, it was AWIL for sure. who ever thought Alien was AMOK? I may refer you to the Nope train making one stop at F*** that town....no offense just a touchy subject in these here parts. BTW guys Ghostbusters is in the "Let's wait for actual evidence" bucket and in other news Sinister 2 is off the list since they barely got a director, I know Horror Films are notoriously warped up fast but I don't think this will be done in time for HHN or October http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3289358/and-the-director-of-sinister-2-is/
Mr.HHN
I've been thinking for a while about if Insidious would return this year and I'm going to lean a bit towards yes. Maybe John is going to do it this year for the last time instead of next year when the 3rd film comes out because it was a huge success and so that next year he can to one of two huge paranormal properties with films coming out next year which would be Amitiville Horror and Poltregeist. That's leaning me to believe that Insidious probably will come back even though I'm not on board for that but it would be for the better in the coming years. Dr. John Overwatch
This is an excerpt from Orlando's spec thread that I posted. Depending on if I'm right about the twitters, this might help both of us, or just one. But I want you guys to see this: "I'd hate to have more Alien spec again, but when Jimmy said lifeforce. And chances are, I'll regret bringing this up somehow, but... Dan O'bannon, who is mentioned in the trailer for Lifeforce actually wrote Lifeforce's screenplay as well as Alien's. He was also one of the story writers for Alien. Now, part of why I bring this up ISN'T to incite more Alien spec. I hold it as a possibility but with what Murdy said and with "the mouse" as Jimmy called it having that license, I can't say for certain anything about it. HOWEVER: My true purpose for bringing this dead horse back to life is this: Perhaps other projects that these people, actors, writers and all of that have worked on are actually what we need to be looking at. It wouldn't be the first time this is the case. I mean hell, Patrick Stewart was in the movie. We could be getting a fucking borg house for all I know. It was also directed by the director of Poltergeist." This gets deeper, by the way. Those of you who also look into Orlando's side would note that Jimmy posted: "*ahem* You don't need a Giger counter to realize that "beauty is only skin deep" is more fitting to an entirely different Alien Species. Unless you also want to get all Strengoit about it... in which case I refer you to another Lifeforce entirely." Lifeforce is all one word. Grammatically incorrect and out of place. Meaning that there's a possible connection here. As far as "Atari 2600" ET was a game for the atari 2600 that gained notoriety for having a rushed development cycle and is rumored to have caused the video game market crash that almost made people think it wasn't a viable business. The funny thing is, ET and Poltergeist were said to have occurred in the same neighborhood. Not only that, but Speilberg was a writer for Poltergeist. Tobe Hooper taking the directing role. AND, ET was going to be a horror movie called "Night skies" that was going to be a sequel to or influenced by "Close encounters of a third kind." This plan fell through and Poltergeist was born out of the script. ET as well was going to have a sequel called "Nocturnal fears" that would have veered into horror. Another thing I found interesting is his mention of "Geiger counters." Again, misspelled, but if the last thing meant something, then this does too. You see, Geiger counters are used in the ghost hunting business. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_hunting Ghost hunting being a major plot point in Poltergeist. As far a sound relating to the 2600... Nothing. Jack shit on that one. But, what I recommend is to check out games that were "ported" onto or from atari 2600 systems. And for those of you who will say "Well, that's great and all, but what does that have to do with the hint?" Well, we are talking about a movie where this happened: Although, given that the movie deals with a burial ground, and used real skeletons, perhaps that's what's meant by "dig it." Dr. John Overwatch
So, I did a quick peak through of IMDB to try and see if there were any more connections to Poltergeist I could make. On top of the master bedroom television set sits an Atari Video Computer System console with its two joysticks; later known as the Atari 2600. ferox
Not really connected to the hints and a bit too obvious. Anyway, recent tweets tell us that Maze #3 was a rough one to budget but they were able to do everything they wanted.

DTH316
Oh God, this better not be another year of horrible static dummies (Insidious) or completely inhuman looking animatronics (Evil Dead). As much as last year grew on me on the second visit, it's one of the things that brought down the overall scare factor on my first visit. If I didn't do a second visit, last year would've been a horrible pit stain in my mind, and keep in mind that's how 99.9% of the public attend HHN. I'm going to assume the first 2 or so weekends were pretty bad still, too.

DTH316
I'm sure those numbers are skewed in some weird way. No doubt it was a great maze, but I think overall attendance flowing through that maze helped (obviously). I'm sure if we're going off of number of people who made it through every maze that year, and then compare it to other mazes in years after, TCM 07 & 08 still win. Freak
I think the gp was alright with Insidious, it being the best rated maze of all time. That's true, but seeing that makes me a bit concerned about this year. "Hey, we cut some corners by having static dummies in Insidious, let's add even more dummies and no one will care!" But if they're judging the maze ratings solely by numbers, that's a very flawed way of doing it. There are so many factors that would be a cause for that. JP venue happens to be smack-dab in the middle of everything.

DTH316
Not when many of those people probably only went through Insidious, one other maze, and Terror Tram. Higher volume through ALL of the choices is more accurate.
AsylumSB
I am sure that those who developed and analyzed the survey provided an excellent synopsis of the results. It is a bit of a science to determine the appropriate sample of surveyors, formatting of questions, and recommendations that come out of the survey. Insidious, in my opinion, was a great maze, even after multiple repeats. The cast and atmosphere was awesome!
DTH316
Sounds like a marketing scheme or something said to make the crew feel better about their work each year (they deserve it and all, but...). I feel like every year there's a new "best rated of all time." TCM, HOTC, WTMN, TWD, Insidious. HMMMMM. TCM! ALWAYS AND FOREVAAAAAAA!!!!!
AsylumSB
^^Hard to say...I am a R&D nerd so surveys kind of intrigue me (I know.....square...hee hee). Insidious may have rated high but it was probably Walking Dead that got more people in to see that particular maze.
