HHN Hollywood 2014 Speculation

Recommended Posts

What if the "Freak Out" maze isn't what us hardcore fans will freak out about, but the General Public will freak out over?

Will Murdy specifically said "Horror fans will freak out over this maze" and the General Public freaks out over any maze so he should call every maze we ever had a freak out maze.

I'd personally be excited for FvJ. Freak out though? Nah.

Alien. Exorcist. Scream. I'd freak out over those.

Oh and the original Evil Dead series, but maybe in a few years since we just had remake ED and it wasn't as amazing as it could've been.

Annabelle is coming out this year right? I wouldn't be surprised if we see the conjuring/Annabelle. They could re use some of the insidious sets and bits of ED for it.

Why spend money on something a bit more obscure when they could just bring back the FAR more popular property and save money? They can have more money to spend on the other houses.

Annabelle and The Conjuring 2 are currently at halt due to a lawsuit against Warner Bros. So rights would very hard to get at the moment.

To be fair to the Conjuring, it is the biggest opening for an original R-rated film, made over 30,000,000 and did well with critics. Not to mention every horror film that has been revealed recently for 2014 (such as The Quiet Ones, Oculus etc.) are being compared to The Conjuring. Fits the HHN criteria better than a lot of the I.Ps that have showed up at the event recently. But again with Warner Bros. Dealing with that lawsuit I'm not sure if it would show up. I'd hope they didn't wait for Annabelle to do the Conjuring given the two films are going to be vastly different from each other.

Apparently Avon's add campaign in the 50's/ 60's was "Ding Dong Avon Calling". Seems like the hint about the buisness of beauty products is the real one

It is pretty relevant. Too bad about the whole law suit thing though. Hopefully they'll get that sorted out soon.

That was my thought a while back. The only connection I thought of was Milla J, who modeled for Avon = Resident Evil.

Maybe The Exorcist is the appealing IP that's going in Parisian Square. As mentioned often, there's not a lot of source material to work from. What's there is good, but there's not a ton of it. Especially when the most iconic scene to be recreated is a little girl laying down in a bed. A condensed maze with a few really killer scenes could be a good use of the IP. The IP owners (whoever they are) wouldn't moan about not getting any promotion for the new project since there really isn't one to speak of.

It has a Goldilocks zone of awareness and the IP holders not being too demanding with placement...in theory.

Also, if we do get an Exorcist maze and Insidious repeat it would be two paranormal mazes. Interesting. And if there is TRT that would be three mazes where children are the central focus...

It is true that it is probably the most or one of the most well known property but I think the promotion has to do with HHN getting promoted by the IP (leaflets in Evil Dead DVD, TWD promoting HHN, The Purge leaflets and commercial on the DVD etc.) I think Universal does properties with things to promote to get promoted back to get fans of something who don't know what HHN is or aren't close to it to come on down to see it be brought to life.

I'm pretty sure if Murdy has the chance to do The Exorcist despite anything he would do it.

Well it's a two way street obviously. Murdy's talked about this before. They bring some more awareness to the IP, and the IP brings awareness to HHN. Walking Dead was a massive hit before HHN, but HHN wasn't as popular before Walking Dead.

I know Murdy will do it when he has a chance without a doubt. Exactly ferox like let's say you are a hardcore walking dead fan but live in a state where you don't even know what HHN is. TWD is promoting HHN so you will go since you are a dedicated fan but if TWD dint promote HHN you wouldn't know therefore universal losses money. Thus that is how marketing works kiddies.
