HHN Hollywood 2014 Speculation

Recommended Posts

The costumes for the Exorcist wouldn't be a challenge. I ask myself if Murdy one day got the rights to both Alien and The Exorcist I think he would do Exorcist over Alien but who knows.

Well the house that has a complicated story and costumes is a different Intellectual Property than the 'Freak-out' I.P. I'd like to have them both but it would be pretty expensive not to mention adding the cost of renting out Stage 747 and part of the Metropolitan Set.

He said that costumes were a challenge for a maze.

If this is true, it's doesn't necissarily scream alien. This maze's costumes could be challenging like silent hill's costumes were. I think if he did get alien he'd make a much bigger deal out of the costumes than just one tweet.

we'd be lucky if we only get one of them. Edited by StraightEdge

So Alien, Predator & Dead Space would be the most expensive mazes to do ha? Darn it.

We'll probably see them one day. The 747 crash site is soon to be replaced by a Soundstage so either they will relocate the Terror Tram (Which seems unlikely given the rest of the backlot will be under some form of construction) or the money for that attraction will be placed elsewhere.

Alright, I'm finally able to post on here. Now I can share what I know.

So as I mentioned in my ststus update, my father is really good friends with John Murdy; I was even able to talk to him a few times. Murdy has only told more about the content of the event to him. Now that my identity can be secret, I'll post the line-up again.

UMR III

Trick r Treat (Persian)

The Exorcist (Mummy)

Insidious return

Walking Dead return (Half partially the same, half off if season 5)

The Purge in 747 accompanied with the backlot experience.

The reason why Murdy isn't waiting until 2015 for TrT and the Insidious repeat is because this is his final year as creative director. He wants to do TrT and the Exorcist, two of his passion projects, before he retires. He wants to repeat Insidious, regardless of timing, to have sufficient funds to do TrT and Exorcist the way he wants to.[/quote

This would be a terrible line up of mazes, I hope not, three repeats?

Taking a late night crack at Malcolm

going off of what Mr. HHN found about Micheal Jackson's obsesssion with the X-men..

one of MJ's songs Man in the Mirror.

For the Malcolm part I have to kind of loose connections

Malcolm Reed- A fictional character from the Star Trek series who existed in a Parallel Universe called the Mirror Universe

Malcolm Young- ACDC guitarist. Russell Coleman was one of ACDC's former drummers (a short lived member but still). The surname of the family from Oculus is Russell.

Maybe Malcolm is Oculus. I could be mistaken. but I think at one point, Murdy said Malcolm was something we probably havent seen...which would apply to Oculus

Yeah Oculus would be hood and it seems right bc murdy and Jason Blum wanted to work together again, so they might do that insured of repeating insidious.

Oculous would be hood? Is that a more urban way of saying that's good? They might do that INSURED of repeating Insidious? Does repeating Insidious give them maze insurance covered by Dieco?

We said the same thing after Murdy worked with Rob Zombie in 2010. What movie would he work with next for Murdy? They just repeated HoTC instead. I can totally see the same thing happening with Jason Blum. Since there aren't any maze-worthy properties he can do with Blum, Murdy might as well repeat Insidious. He can save money for the other mazes he REALLY would rather do while maintaining a celebrity relationship. I hate to say this, but an Insidious repeat sounds like the most likely candidate.

Again, if TTT's line-up is accurate, I guess one will be plenty for me. The disappointing line-up will save me money from buying merch, multi-night tickets, and allow more money for the Knott's experience and other haunts. :)

I think Murdy said that his tenure for creative director does not delve into the double-digits. Being that this is currently his ninth year working for Horror Nights, I think it will be.

If you want to see Dead Space, go to Orlando this year. :)

Yes it is. Once Murdy does the Exorcist, he's done. I would also expect to see Ghostbusters show in the Shrek theater as the long-awaited second show. The "repeat" funds from Walking Dead and Insidious will help with that.

Insidious very well could repeat 3 times. This year most likely it'll just be a complete repeat and be brand new based on part 3 in 2015. Hopefully this year will AT LEAST have 25% changes, or even better if its like the La Llorona repeat. After all, its the highest rated maze OF ALL TIME. TWD is on its way (most likely) to a third year repeat as well.

2 repeats ain't that bad. I think its certain Sabbath, Evil Dead and Cucuy aren't coming back. I certainly hope Terror Tram won't be TWD again, which could open itself up to be The Purge, which would make 2 old IP mazes and 1 new IP maze, 2 original mazes, a repurposed IP for TT, and hopefully UMR won't return again.

I also want to mention that HHN will never be doing 3D houses again. Despite the fact that Black Sabbath was the number one rated 3D maze ever, Murdy decided he did all that he could with 3D houses. The only 3D mazes he really wishes he could've done was Alice Cooper: Theater of Death in 747. After seeing the groundplan for it, it would have been amazing. It's too bad Murdy had an ugly falling out with Alice Cooper, forever ruining the possibility of it.

Good points. Insidious returning would just be a good supplemental maze and have little impact for the rest of the event. Even VIP could be tailored to a newly designed property. If Walking Dead returns, why not take over the upper lot, a place that sorely lacks something special.
