Scareactor Appreciation

Thursday was an awesome night!

First set of House of Horror ran me ragged. I literally walked out hunched in a little ball in that end room because of the attacks from every angle.

Same thing for first set of the night in Walking Dead. This is my favorite house of the season (Horror is second) becajuse of the sheer viciousness and aggression. It reminds me of the level of Havoc.

I wasn't thrilled with the streets on opening night, but y'all won me over last night. Loved the scareactors at the windows of Finnegans and the one who came in and rampaged around a bit.

Over in Hollywood, my Krusty doll was maltreated most delightfully. A reaper handed him over to a trick or treater who wanted to eat him, and he was also accosted by a pumpkin head. The chainsaw prisioners were nicely vicious.

But my biggest kudo of the night is for what will probably be my best scare of the season. We went through Sting Alley, starting on the Hollywood side. Hubby and I were debating on whether there were any scareactors in there. We didn't see any, and right at the end I turned and told him, "See, there's no one in here. The very next second, I had the crap scared out of me by one who jumped out right before the end." Well played.

The scare actors are doing such a boss job! Really gotta take my hat off to the energy and drive they have to get those extra scares! To the beasts by Mib lastnight around 7 that surrounded my friends sister until she was sitting on her moms lap hahaha and then later surrounded me as I came thru the area alone you guys had great energy and were going the extra mile for the scares!! I have to say everyone in the houses are on their A game everyone in my group of 9 jumped out of their skin at some point. We will be back tonight for more fun!

When was it and who was it? The Beasts were in NYC for their final set, and I got several good scares there myself while everyone else was getting them throughout the night.

I'll say two three of them because they brought their legion/house with honor

- Alice Cooper:WTMN Top Hat Alice (in the finale) always comes close during the strobes and always freak me out when i least expected (need to encourage your co-actors to have more of a drive)

- Vampires Nosferatu (at early 6 yesterday) wandering around the entrance of Central Park (while his horde is back in hollywood) I was smelling the pumping of fog (don't ask lol) then he sneaked the corner of my eye and snarled at me it was a great start for yesterday.

- Walking Dead (at 8ish) all the department store walkers especially in the changing room area got me really good. Also a nod to the last walker in the hospital scene.

It had to be around 8:30ish because we had just come out of Finnegan's, and it was right at the Sting Alley entrance/exit on the lagoon side. I can't even describe the scareactor because I got such a scare that it didn't even register. Just jumped and screamed!

Alright... I guess I should make a list of scareactors before I go more nights and then have a hard time remembering lol.

House of Horrors:

- Can we just make Dracula's arm an official scareactor? ever since they added that damn prop opening weekend it has gotten A LOT of scares.

- Dracula (both casts i believe) has gotten me good.

- Creature From The Black Lagoon last night... BOTH sides, I know one of them was Michaelz <_< If anyone deserved a boo-buck, it'd be him & his Creature companion.

- Frankenstein (not sure which cast)

- Bride of Frankenstein (first cast) last night got me good.

Alice Cooper:

- Cast A.. straight-jacket guy on the right in the X-Ray scene during their first set got me good before heading into the medical scene

- Cast A (first set) The doctor before the spider room got me tonight thanks to his eprom being so loud.

- the morgue ceiling scare, doesn't scare me, but it needs to get its much deserved credit.

- Cast A Varisty Jock in the "School's Out" scene. He's just awesome & probably my favorite lol

Penn & Teller:

- the guy across from the poker table showgirl got me good during their last set on opening night

- That damn clown in the finale... Probably BOTH casts.

- Last night, the Chef in the Buffet scene got me good. Thats Zkeeper's cast.

Dead End:

- Cast A got a few scares out of me, can't remember which scenes specifically other than the scareactor on the left side across from the "killer plant" (?) in the conservatory (?)..

- Cast B... the same conservatory scene, but the last scareactor on the right side. Seen him twice now and he does the locked-eyes staredown while walking with me until the scene exit. It reminded me of one of the guys in Forsaken's courtyard last year.

Gothic:

- the Gargoyle in the wall with the drop-door. I can't remember specifically where it is in the house, but you got Dr Jimmy good on saturday night.

________________________________________________________________________________

I'm trying to think of anything memorable in the streets.. No offense to you scareactors in the streets, its just really hard to remember every little amusing thing that you guys do. So consider it a good thing that I can't fully remember it all lol. You're all doing a great job and its definitely a big improvement over the mess that was EP due to the closed off streets.

off the top of my head

- Traditionals are amusing and entertaining.

- Warriors are doing pretty well. I don't care for when they "march", but when they're scattered doing their own thing, it works well.

- Vampires... I believe i've encountered them the most other than the Traditionals. Some of the costumes i don't particularly care for, but these guys will definitely make you their prey... or toy...

- The Iniquitus... they just look cool.

- Lastly... the newly created mini-hordes are a great addition, but i wish they were actually added scareactors rather than one removed from each horde. Despite that, i love seeing this horde prowl since its one of each.

I think the Cast B Vampires were there at the time.

House of Horrors - EVERYONE in the finale got me. Everyone. Love.

Alice Cooper - cast A never fails to delight me. Special props to Dad, the jock (we may start dancing soon!) and Alice in the second hospital scene (heart you!) Love love love the finale - I think the Showman may have won our gesticulating contest. And I still say that is the most polite mental patient I've ever met. Also a special mention to the Ops gentleman in Black Widow for always giving me a smile, nod, and pin light on the floor so I don't run over his foot.

P&T - poor Chuck had the dry heaves - feel sorry for him. Got nailed in a three way in the slot machine room - I know they're there, and they still startle me. The chef got me - TWICE. And can't get enough of Elvis (I see you too!) Oh, the clown - that clown. So terribly friendly, and yet I'm still cleaning up the pee stains.

Really enjoyed my runs through TWD, although I had TERRIBLE timing. Not a blame, just the folks in front and behind me were popular targets. But the energy continues to increase in here, and the actors do a great job of balancing aggression with the general mindlessness that is walker-ness. I so love the hospital scene.

Dead End, a couple of great runs. I love how the photographer is always ready for me. So many points to the shirt I'm really losing track.

Gothic - always a favorite. In the bell tower - hey, I brought the honey dijon on Thursday but didn't have any takers. I guess I should have saved it for Friday - Friday is two for one heart specials. Also many special props to the gargoyle behind the drop door - you just have the best aggression!

In the streets, loved the extended interaction with the ermine collared Vampire in NY. Apparently I have extremely aromatic blood - the creep factor here was perfect! Also got to spend a little more time with my favorite Beast in Hollywood. I just need to move from the fog if I'm going for a photo :( Rat Lady's escort - between the staring, pointing, and stalking, I'm getting a major creepout complex. I loved running into you again! And I enjoyed watching the Warriors stalking and scaring everyone else. I don't seem to be getting much direct interaction from them, but I've decided they must be frightened of wheelchairs. (Okay... that should do the trick ;):P )

The nights continue to get wilder - great job to everyone, I'm enjoying your work so much!!

P&T around 7:20 thursday. i was playing with the newly discovered buttons on the slot machines in seizures palace when a SA on the right scared the crap out of me. kudos to you.

House of Horrors- Creature on the right around 9 Thursday got me good. A monster in the finale got me good on that same run through. Does the Phantom at the organ control the air blasts? if so, he has managed to scare me all 4 runthroughs of that scene <_<.

The Walking Dead-Thursday at around 6:45. Walker behind the pipes in the scene after the department store (i think thats where it is) got me very good as i had no knowing he was there.

Alice Cooper- right before 8 Cast A, SA in the roof after the Stripper scene. noone knew he was there after 3 runthroughs and got my friend in front of me GOOD.

Gothic- ive seen a lot of scares in this house by everyone in here. Great job to all of you. i didn't know there was an airblast with the flying gargoyle in the candle scene and it scared me.

Dead End- picture scene. the "dead" SA adjacent from the camera man got me good while i was deciding which one was real. Plant scare is doing exceptionally well. finale actor got my sister real good on opening Friday.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOVE the taunting the prisoners give out. they seem to be really into their roles and are real fun to watch.

Traditionals are everywhere. they are all crazy and do very well at getting scares with their distractions (cowbell/tincans etc.) i saw a pumpkinhead distract a group with a cowbell while laughing then shove a tincan in their faces. very fun to watch.

Dead End, the whole house pretty much, I always get scared a lot here. the actors here are great.

Gothic, the flying gargoyles are great, really awesome. I love seeing the gargoyle in the roof with the stars passes by from side to side.

Silent Hill, The nurses twitch like they did in the movie, so that is pretty awesome, I loved seeing them twitch like that.

Some props to most of the

Traditionals (i think they're the ones with the pumpkin headed creatures) for giving me some random scares. As for the pumpkin scareactor who was in one of the mini-sets in Hollywood, I never would've imagined that a simple cowbell was enough to scare anyone, but you made a major exception.

Cody who was one of the beasts who tried to "eat" Duffy.

Many of the chainsaw inmates, but two of them that really made my encounter with them was 1. one of them who obviously targeted Duffy by putting a spin on the "Fuzzy Wuzzy" rhyme, and 2. another inmate who did her job a bit too well, because she made some innocent bystander have a full fledged panic attack and had her crouch in a fetal position (believe me, i saw the entire thing), and that inmate had a "Jillian Michaels" moment by shouting at the bystander to "Get Up!!"

Housewise,

HOH: The Dracula (at least i think it was Dracula) from HoH before the crouching portion.

P&T: most of Cast A was impressive, including The "Magician's Assistant" who called me out by my actual name, and the wedding preacher guy who tried to "hang" duffy with his rope.

And that's all i can remember.

Nice to know the showman is getting good scares. Were trying to make the best of a distraction role. Do you remember the times you came through cinema? Or how that final room was set up?

Shout out to Pyramid head for being INSANE....sprinting on those stilts, and then flailing your arms wildly at us. Awesome.

Also, shout out to all of the traditionals again. You guys are amazing. I got triple teamed by actors shouting "THE VAULT IS DEAD, I'VE ALREADY TOLD YOU!" and it was fantastic. Also, my girlfriend decided to actually give the scareactor wearing a chicken mask a piece of candy. The scareactor looked at it for half a second, and then held it up in the air triumphantly. It was truly awesome.

Gotta give kudos to the rest of the streets as well, especially the mixed mini-horde. I honestly thought before the event began that the streets would be trash...instead, it's an incessant onslaught of scares. There are a few dead spots, but not as many as before. Considering the lacking props and theming, you guys are doing fantastic this year.

After going for my second weekend, I'll say that the scareactor aggression and interaction has improved even beyond the amazing job they did last weekend. If things continue to get better each weekend, I cannot even imagine the inensity of Halloween night!

The traditionals, the prisoners, and the warriors continue to impress me each time I pass through or stay in their zones. I was exiting from Alice Cooper into the traditional cast when the prisoners arrived. The prisoners pretty much attacked the traditionals, yelling at them to get out of their way. I don't know what it is about a maniacal inmate running after an "innocent" little trick-or-treater with a chainsaw, but it was fantastic!

I also have to give props to the prisoners who were around Mel's on Friday night around 8:30 (?). Not just were they aggressive outside, but one of them came into the restaurant while we were eating, crept up to a table of about ten people, and screamed into their ears in classic fashion. She made the entire half of the table that had their backs towards her jump as if they were all being electrified. She continued to come back over the next fifteen minutes, standing at the door reving her chainsaw, putting it down, then running in at them again. And . . . we had front row seats!

Thanks to all of you in the houses who consistently recognize us and improve your scare tactics with each and every pass through the house.

- carnage, I finally saw you on Friday

- there were many HNN shoutouts during the P&T cast change, while I was standing in the AC queue just in front of the house

- the P&T chef, light people, Elvis, and Roy are always amazing

- the intensity of TWD was better this weekend, but I still have to give a special shoutout to the last hospital walker

- the Gothic casts are still continuing to amp up their game each and every night - amazing!

- the Silent Hill casts were more on target this weekend and this house has now jumped into third place for me, based on scareactor performance

Bottom line . . . A&D was absolutely right when they said to expect no safe zones and that even HHN veterans will be surprised at what it being changed this year. Change is good when it works. Well done, A&D, well done!

So this was the first year I took my sister and there was one Beast on Thursday night (9/27) that kept coming for my sister all night and I loved every second of it. We would go do something then keep running into the Beasts and yes this one Beast kept going after her and getting us each time. Sorry I don't have much more to go off of but whoever it was I wish I could thank him for such a fantastic job. Because of him the Beast horde has moved straight to number one in my book.
