Scareactor Appreciation

A huge thank you to all the scareactors, house and street, who made this such an incredible, scary, scream-loaded, laughing and fun year. You gave it your all, and I hope you know how much you are appreciated and loved by your fan-addicts (like me!)

Personal thanks for these memories for my scrapbook (in no particular order):

Dead End - again, last room, you made my kid and husband run.

Silent Hill - hammer guy. Every time my kid pointed at me, and every time OMG you were gonna smash, I know it!

Gothic - Holy S*&#. Ceiling, you almost had me on my knees (1st time in 10 years of attending I've been scared that damn good!) Then the high five the next weekend when I flashed the old vault sign.

HOH - wolfman tag team...Frank busting out...and CFTBL on the last night, made husband jump WAY away from you, then such a sweet wave back to me after that. Awesome!

AC - Jock, no, I'm still watching you.

Walking Dead - gotta love my walkers, and every single time at the turn in the hospital room. Nice!

P&T - Elvis, always, thank you, thank you very much! (Kiss!) Made the final night so memorable! Almost made me cry! ;-)

But, again, to all of you, all the roles, all the locations, thank you!!!!

Many thanks from the bottom of my heart for all the visits and appreciation I received from all of you this year. It really made it an amazing experience working this year. I'm sure everyone in both casts of Penn and Teller would say the same. We work the event for you guys.

Very cliche, but Elvis has left the building.

I have way too many, and I have no idea where to start. I'm definitely going to forget some things.

Love to the HoH crew for turning what could've been a crappy house to an amazing one. The charging Frank (whom is afraid of my stuffed cat), all of the guys in the last room, the wolfmen, the Dracula....and all of the others too...amazing.

Love to the Warriors for camping in the queues....holy crap, I thought it was just one, until several more came out and gave me a truly great scare. Fantastic. You guys were definitely on point the final night.

Cooper Cooper Cooper. Showman=awesome, of course. Jock=awesome. The last night he tries to steal our stuffed cat from us, except this time he whispers in my ear "Trust me!" So I let him steal 'George' for the first time, and he goes through a door...aroudn the corner, he reaches under the "dead" jock standing on the pedestal and hands me back my cat. Holy crap, I was not expecting that! I wish I would've let him steal my cat sooner. That was fantastic. You've been one of the most memorable house scareactors (if not THE most memorable house scareactor) I've ever experienced. I only wish I could've thanked you better than a thumbs up.

Penn&Teller, you guys are fantastic as well. <3 to Elvis, Sigfried, pretty much everyone else. The two headed man after the bedroom scene is one of my personal favorites.

Gothic...you guys definitely deserved HOTY! <3 to the two gargoyles who stopped me and began petting my stuffed cat. And much <3 to all of the others for being totally creepily awesome! You guys got much scarier after the latex smell went away. The guys in the bell room=awesome too.

Due to the unusually long lines for Halloween, I was only able to hang out in the streets and not able to hit the rest of the houses on Halloween.

Epic oodles of love to the Traditionals! Rosie...'nuff said. Thanks for knocking off my girlfriend's glasses, thanks for the EPIC freakout after my girlfriend "kissed" you.....taking off the mask, screaming very loudly in agony, and then about germs...you must've been doing that for a while. It was fantastic. Another set of Traditionals to totally make my night where the scarecrow standing on top of the rock (SO EPIC!) and the pumpkin man hiding underneath....with a badass picture someone drew for him. Oh, and the cat girls coming by and joining in on the shenanigans. I loved my interaction with pumpkin head...."Nah, your head is more yellow than anything." He walks up, gets in my face, points exaggeratedly at the obviously orange pumpkin on his head. "IT IS ORANGGGGEEE!!!!"

Beasts were on fire last night too...to the beast that climbed on top of one of the props, and then jumped down VERY forcefully in front of an unsuspecting guest, scaring them so badly that they fell to the ground...that made my night. Best thing I've ever seen. I actually caught a pic of said beast as he was jumping off, but not while standing up there. It was great.

The cheerleader with an axe....I haven't gotten a whole lot of interaction with you, but you did an amazing job just being generally scary and creepy. I think you may've scared me once or twice...but you've always stood out to me.

<3 to my favorite chainsaw ladies, and the vampires, though I cannot remember any specific events that happened on Halloween (though I probably will remember in a few hours or days!)

Thank you everybody for being amazing this year. I loved it, and I can't wait for next year!

Edit: Knew I forgot someone! Thanks to EZE for being totally epically amazing this year, screaming in my face one last time, AND giving my girlfriend a hug! You sir, are awesome. I hope you return next year, and if you do, they keep you on the streets.

Two more amusing episodes that I failed to mention earlier. (sorry about that!)

First this delightful exchange with Zach the Owl Boy (Bruce) during the second to last week of the event.

I encountered him in Kidzone where he showed me an apple:

Zach: "This lady said she was diabetic and had no candy - so she gave me this apple. I'm sure it's full of razor blades!!!"

me: "A lady gave you an apple? Was it an older lady by any chance?"

Zach: "YES!!! It was an old woman!"

me: "Better be careful, if you bite that you may go into a coma..."

Zach: "IT'S FULL OF "ROOFIES"!!!!!"

Secondly on Sunday, October 28th during the mad rush in Hollywood chasing TJ around to get our scans for the Horror Unearthed game, (he was dressed in a black hooded robe) a Grinch-faced Beast joined in and sniffed at TJ and peeked under his hood - all the while staying wonderfully in character.

After I had gotten my "cookie" I was standing around Mel's with others discussing what would happen next, when the same Beast was lurking right next to me... I suddenly turned to him and asked:

"So, what does the Master smell like then?"

Again staying in character, he made some Beastly noises and gestures then seized a pepper shaker from one of the Mel's outside tables and showed it to me!

Thus let it stand as established: TJ smells like pepper!!!!

I want to agree with many on these boards that HHN22 was truly the Year of the Scareactor! Many kudos go out to all of you in the streets and in the houses for making this year's event so memorable for everyone. Usually after the event is over, most people are talking about missing houses and scarezones, but his year everyone is talking about missing the casts. Over the past month, I have shared my thanks to you guys and girls that make our adventures through the park amazing experiences and unique each and every time we attend the event. Halloween night was no exception . . .

Houses: nothing special stood out since I primarily stayed in the streets, but I would like to thank:

-the Alice Cooper cast who truly made Kathy's night (as well as gave me a better appreciation for your house).

-the Gothic cast for always being on key and amazing! Congratulations on HOTY - you truly deserve it!

-the two Siegfrieds in Penn & Teller - I guess the mutation caused you to be cloned on Halloween Night: SSarmoti, then?

-the super amazing walker in the hospital who says he won't continue next year. We'll see about that.

Streets: everything special about the streets this year, but some highlights from Halloween night include:

-e_z_e who absolutely loves his salt and pepper shakers at Mel's - here's to "drop kicking the s@#t out of those shakers!" Amazing!

-the entire cast of the Traditionals who made the streets come alive whenever you were around. I have to say one of the most memorable moments of the night was in front of MIB at the close of the event when the Prisoners arrived. You guys had a great showdown! Shame on the prisoner, however, that made Rosie cry because you attacked her with your chainsaw. Kudos to the pumpkinhead and the prisoner who played the Whack-A-Mole game in front of Simpsons - it was a great way to end the night - here's the picture. The highlight of the event for me, however, was my favorite marzipan-eating fox friend - I hope you enjoyed the marzipan I gave you on Halloween night! Yumm.

-the entire cast of the Prisoners who electrified the streets this year with their energy. Your final departure in front of MIB was fantastic - it was the loudest I've see you throughout the entire run of the event. But, you should have been nicer to the Traditionals - they're just sweet little kids, no?

-the entire cast of the Warriors who scared the crap out of your guests each and every night. The highlight of Halloween was your trip through Finnigan's - I saw two of you sneak up to a table in the main dining area and scare a woman so badly that she flipped her fork off the table and it (along with whatever food was on it) at least five feet into the air - here's the picture. As a fellow Baccanoid (by association at least), you made me proud throughout the run of HHN22!

-the Beasts for winning SOTY. One of my biggest scares throughout the event came on 10/12 when Cody provided a distraction, allowing another beast to scare me while I was taking a picture in front of Mel's.

Thanks to Kathy, Justin, Adam, Ryan, Thomas, Ryan, Sam, Kim, Jason, Dr. Jimmy, and everyone else who made Halloween night simply amazing!

I want to finally thank all of the scareactors that we ran into after the park closed in front of the Universal Store and along the exit pathways leading towards the parking lot. Halloween Night Nightmares is a wonderful fan community and the event is truly enhanced by meeting fellow fans of the event and the scareactors that interact with us on a nightly basis. Thanks for spending so much time talking with us and I hope to see you all again next year, if not sooner!

I don't even know where to start. Regardless of where I may put HHN 22 on my list of "best of" events - this year, and especially last night, will go down as my personal favorite, most rewarding, joyful, and touching year of any since I started attending in '97. This is 100% because of all of you.

To SH and DE - I didn't spend as much time in these houses as I would have liked, but I appreciate every scare and shout out. I had fun in both, and I'm so glad I got to see you the times I did manage.

To HOH, thanks for all the classic screams; air hose mummy, our wonderfully attacking bride, all our wonderful Frankenstein monsters, charging and otherwise, and everyone in the finale, every time. It was a joy to see this house blossom, and this is completely because of everyone in this house.

To P&T, thanks for all the laughs, giggles, snorts, shoutouts and fun. I had trouble with the 3D glasses this year, so I'm so very grateful that life is in 3D as well! Sarmoti, Love Live the King, and clowns still scare the holy crap out of me.

TWD - you gave me tons of attention and scares in what I'm sure was a challenging year. The gauntlet is the eighth wonder of the world. My absolute favorite dark haired walker still totally rocks donkey socks. And I want my door.

Gothic - so many congrats on HOTY, you did an amazing job all through the run. Thanks for always providing me safe passage, and for making me feel like one of you. Considering I haven't been stoned since 1977 (please note expiration of statute of limitations), that's a pretty significant achievement. Through the towers and spires, it has been my privilege to share this event with you.

Alice - I don't think I have any words left. If I'm doing my math correctly, there should be about 38 actors who deserve a boa constrictor size hug from the bottom of my toes. Psycho Stevens, my nurses and doctor, Black Widows, Mom and Dad, my sweetheart jock and cheerleader, subsequent dead jock and dad, Ethyl, ceiling gentleman that performed a successful tonsillectomy, Heart of my Hearts Alice, finale Alice and Steven, and also my ultimate showmen of showmen: Thank you. Thank you for the gifts of scares, attention, affection and all the others. For a dark house, you brought a stunning amount of sunshine into my life. You really are all Rock Stars.

To the Beasts: Congratulations on SOTY. I had the best time being stalked by you, and your aggression has been stunning. And a total hoot to watch when you're doing it to someone else.

Warriors - I didn't get to spend nearly enough time with you this year, but the time I spent was an absolute blast. You were all on fire every night, and one of my biggest regrets is never taking a photo with any of you in character. The scares were fabulous, and I totally have no issue with the leather pants. Or denim that looks like leather. Where is my ice water and fan...?

Street Walkers - there's no way to say that and not make it sound... wrong. You all did a fabulous job of blending into the insane crowds, providing top notch scares and entertainment, and keeping the whole zombie/walker vibe going. It was a blast just sitting and watching your work, and I send extra hugs to my two special walkers that attacked me all event long. I will have to get that infected bite taken care of, first - while I give in to this sudden desire for whole brain pasta.

My fellow Strengoit - I also didn't spend enough time with you this year. You were always on top of the scares, and GREAT attention to vampire detail - whether day or night. Thanks for including me as one of you, and thanks for deciding that my blood is even more aromatic than Bella blood. A special shout out to my favorite rat lady escort, whose interaction made this year even more fun and special. <3 Children of the night, thank you for your beautiful music.

Ah, the ladies of the saw - you offered to both remove pesky unnecessary limbs, and provide replacements from the General Public. I have loved all our chainsaws over the years, but the energy and attitude you brought this year was first rate. You did a FABULOUS job, and I couldn't have been happier with all the jabs and taunts. And belches. I truly loved hanging with you this year.

Our Traditionals - I honestly loved every last one of you. Rosie, fox boy, and my dear sweet ballerina were just a few of the trick or treaters, witches, vamps, ogres, pumpkinheads, and all manner of creatures that I may not have figured what they were, but still loved the heck out of. You gave us, the fans, so many amazing experiences, I'm sure a book will be written. Candy for everyone (including Nature's Candy), and I PROMISE to get my seance on this time next year. And Uncle Fred will be watching over you all as well.

To the Iniquitus - I loved your interaction, whether being constantly asked for photos, or working the crowds. You gave an overarching menace to the streets and year, and I loved hanging out with you. All of you, with a special shoutout to my Reaper in Hollywood who never failed to approach, apprise, and then scare the crap out of me.

You all are this event. No matter how much or how little support you are given, you bring the life - or un-death - to HHN. I salute all of you, and eagerly anticipate 23.

Now go take a nap. Love you all :)

And Scarecrow, I'll miss you most of all <3

I let you motorboat me and don't get mentioned -_-
