Had the amazing experience to briefly meet Mike Aiello and Mike Roddy in Finnegans near midnight last night. Love the enthusiasm, humbleness and fan appreciation they have. Heard they did a house earlier. :-) Nice!!

As for the mace, unbelievable. The scareactors are people too! (Which I tend to yell often.) I find it unfathomable that idiots don't realize they are doing THEIR JOBS by scaring you.

Saw the new groups briefly last night, and for a quick addition, costumes weren't bad, and they were working the crowd fairly well. Can't wait to see how it looks Sunday night.

There were new scareactors last night. The new ones in Plaza of the Stars were said by their ASM to be "trick or treaters" but they were nothing like the other Traditionals, in fact the ASM said they were NOT Traditionals (?).

They included several stiltwalkers and appeared to be Circus/Gypsy types. They reminded me mostly of Troupe Macabre, and had some clown-like qualities as well.

This doesn't surprise me - as much as I love going inside to get terrorized, I also tend to feel oddly secure in the houses. I think maybe we all have each other's backs - they probably know if anyone screws with my scareactors, I will mow their ass down with my tricked out manual four wheeler. And it's good to know that the fella that has my back also carries a machete :P

But this kind of shit pisses me off. What's the point of having the security check-point at the arches, other than to harrass everyone. so yea, i really hate people.

This times 100. I tweeted it half-jokingly a week ago, but I now I really wonder if the increased security is due solely to lower alcohol sales. Seriously, not that the person who did it doesn't deserve jail time, but I'd also do a top-down clensing of the gate security team. It's easy to hire new rent-a-cops in this economy, send a message.

Cogstein, where was it by Alice cooper exit. Cause a lot of incidents happened last night. I'm not even sure he saw his attacker. What I heard.when he was headed to health services was he looked at the light and couldn't see.

no we saw her being escorted out the front of the park, we were eating some free muffins we got from some employees out in front of the bakery.

the thing is that in HHN you kinda tend to let your guard down, ( I know this sounds Ironic when you are being scared out of your pants) but what I mean is you don't expect to get hurt, you kinda get a feeling of safety since you see cops everywhere and people go to the event to have a good time and enjoy themselves, I personally put all my attention on the house and the actors, I don't really pay much attention to the other people around me in regards to my safety, I dont really think about getting hurt, Unless there is a unruly drunk or a group of troublemakers, then I get paranoid about them, but that ruins the time in the house because I am focused on them not hurting me and not the house, so it sucks.

What do you mean lower alcohol sales? As in prices are lower therefore causing more drinking? Or they aren't selling as much? I haven't been there yet, next Wednesday is my first night. If alcohol sales are lower as your post leads me to believe I would think they'd need less of a police presence. Lower sales would mean less drunks to act stupid.

My cast is really big on watching each other's backs, and the coordinators are hawkish when it comes to protecting us. We're all friends and spend a lot of time on break joking and playing around, so we care about each other a lot.

Last night I got a light punch to the jaw from a woman for interrupting her argument (before anyone says anything, I actually backed off when she asked me to; she punched me after I looked away from her), so I grabbed a nearby security officer and cop and had her trespassed. One of our other Beasts wasn't so lucky and had a guy outright go up to him and punch him in the nose. He had to get his mask swapped out for the last set so they could clean the blood out, and he damn near killed the asshole. Guy got a trip down to 33rd Street in the back of a cop car.

Cody, this kind of story just makes me sad. I, for one, so appreciate the wonderful job you guys do, and I can't imagine how anyone would ever want to harm any of you. WTF?? I hope the guy gets into serious trouble for this bullshit, and I hope you and your friend are ok.

I think he's implying that lower alcohol sales means that more people are sneaking liquor in....thus the need for more security to crack down on said folks....

Ok well going off of that there isn't much of a way to stop it, people have plastic flasks now. They go much further and we'll all be bending over and submitting to a cavity search to get in.

As for this crap about scareactors getting assaulted. I hate to say it but maybe it's going to take some scareactors to "push" back a bit. I know that isn't legal and may just lead to worse problems but I truly think people get off by messing with someone that they know can't do anything back to them. The pepper spray incident is absolutely ridiculous. How does someone get pepper spray/mace past security? Last year my friend Jason was stopped and pulled aside for his asthma inhaler, yes people an asthma inhaler. They made him pull the medicine out of the container, spray it and 2 different guards had to look it over before a 3rd came over and said with a rather embarrassed look on his face that it was just an asthma inhaler and he was ok to go. Moral of the story is if they nitpick and an inhaler, pepper spray should NEVER get through the gate.

Wow...just wow. I noticed that Friday when I was there that crap was going down everywhere. I saw security and universal supervisors running all around all night. One guy locked himself in the monster cafe bathroom for some reason. They got a strecher to get him out.

Makes me angry on the crap people pull. Hopefully you and all the other casts won't have much trouble tonight, I will be there.

I saw what may have been the most obnoxious douche of a guest last night going through Silent Hill around 10:30ish. I was unfortunate enough to be directly behind this guy who apparently thought it would impress his girlfriend to try to hump all the female characters in the house. He tried to climb in bed with the burn victim, ran inside boo-holes, and generally acted like a total ass even when both ops and some scareactors told him to cut it out.

Maybe he thought he was Pyramid Head from the games? He certainly seemed willing to rape the nurse mannequins and scareactors.

There are always a few people that treat characters/scareactors terribly. They just never stop to think that there is a person behind the mask or in the suit. They're just ignorant.

Ironically enough, the opposite may also be the problem: they acknowledge that there's a person behind the mask, but forget that they're playing a character and doing the job. When an actor runs up to them and growls at them, they take it personally as if it were some random jackass on the street doing it and react violently.

As for this crap about scareactors getting assaulted. I hate to say it but maybe it's going to take some scareactors to "push" back a bit.

Our coordinators and SM are willing to let us defend ourselves within reason. I've shoved multiple people off of me, sometimes hard enough to knock them back a few steps. It depends on the size and age of the person, their mental state, and exactly what they're doing. In the same set that I had a 12-year-old put his arm around me and I just gently took it off, I had a drunk college student grab me tightly and had to be pushed off and away.

Only someone who can't control himself will go so far as to brawl with a guest, but we have some ability to remove ourselves from situations without harming the guest. After all, coordinators and security/OPD can't cover the entire zone (especially with their increase in size and the use of previously restricted areas).

Haha I had that same type of thing happen to me in silent hill. Some drunk lady hugged and touched all the actors, she almost got kicked out.

Had a great night and ended up helping security get a guy who slapped two of the nurses in Silent Hill. I didn't see the street experience pick up until 11:30 though which was disappointing. The only thing I missed was B&T.

i want to work as a scare actor once i finish school, but with the violence towards them, im starting to re-think. i will still try it one year and then go from there.
