LV-426
well i mean think about it, whats more scary? an old hag, or a sexy 21 yr old...id be more interested in takin her out on a date than fearing her... like what happened to Chance... I would never be scared of her... I don't know, I like this Icon, plus I don't think she's going to be portrayed that old lol, like with the "cougar" comment, Lady luck is not bad
mzdomb
from what ive heard, people are saying there will be a 2nd icon by her side... and i dont know who chance whas, cuz i didnt go to that hhn
Legacy
Unless we're going to start counting the raven as an Icon (although I imagine it as a sort of familiar), Luck is the only icon. You have not see all of her yet. That's the best way it can be said without giving too much away. Give it time...
Grimp0nd
I have to agree with most of you this commercial is pretty dissapointing even if it isn't the full trailer. I actually liked the commercial last year it made me want to go to the event (it was the Fear in the park or lack of him that dissapointed me) but this years teaser does nothing for me at all. I still think it's Lady Hawthorn but obviously the reveal of her other side could make me change my mind. Difficult to say where they are going with this but at the moment i'd be more scared by Barney.

Grimp0nd
lady hawthorne with an evil side of lady luck? Yeah something like that. Maybe that was her before she died and her other side/face is after she came back as Lady Luck. Who knows i'm just trying to make good out of a poor reveal i guess. Grimp0nd
But she doesn't speak with a British accent... Actually i thought she did sound British. Don't forget we have different accents in different parts of England just like you guys do over there. She was wearing what i'd expect from a Lady hosting some sort of dinner party or evening ball too. I might be way off on this as that short clip really isn't enough to go on. Time will tell. mzdomb
ok picture this, maybe theres a story as in , maybe lady hawthorne died of bad luck, and now shes punishing people ? something like that, can edgar allen poe get tied in with her somehow? and possibly be reincarnated into the raven? mystiquephreeq
But she doesn't speak with a British accent... Why would Lady Hawthorn speak with a British accent? Considering her tombstone is very reminiscent of the ones in Salem, Massachusetts, I wouldn't imagine her having a British accent. A New Englander accent would be far more appropriate. As to our Icon, I say everyone give her and A&D a chance to reveal her true potential. We have not seen the whole package or picture. The commercial is jumpy in places as if scenes have been cut. It's flow seems interrupted. I'm guessing the full commercial will remedy this.

JDW
The commercial is jumpy in places as if scenes have been cut. It's flow seems interrupted. Indeed they have been. I really wish it hadn't happened this way. The way people are it seems the last few years they make snap judgments based on incomplete knowledge. If the reveal had happen, all of the aspects had been seen, no one would have even cared about this version. I'm sure there would still people hating it the second it came out.... just far more this way. Anyway, now I can release one of the buttons I will have at the event. demonfalconking
ok let me get this straight, this commercial was not suppose to come out untill the the whole (original) but due to time changes with HHN pushing back the full reveal by a week all this stuff came out today cause they didn't get the memo (i think someone at universal may get fired lol) correct? That was the premise that i posted last week so you are thinking along the same lines as me. It would make an interesting back story but i desperately want to see her darker side if that background turns out to be true.
emily.on.elm.street
The more I watch the commercial the more it intrigues me because at first I was a little disappointed, but now I can't wait to see the whole thing. Anyway I noticed that in the opening scene there a two dresses hanging on what looks like the rotating clothes racks in a dry cleaners. Will her other sides be wearing these or something? Lords and Ladies are very much a British thing in my opinion. I'm not writing Lady Luck off just yet as i'm desperately hoping that she has more to offer. I mean she has to right? To the fans? Technically, yes. There has to be more. To the general public, who make up 95% of the paying customers? Not at all. Not one bit. Halve of them called the Storyteller "Grandma," Chance, "Harley," and Jack, "It" (Not even Pennywise). They couldn't care less. Now, my skepticism is starting to make sense, isn't it... ok let me get this straight, this commercial was not suppose to come out untill the the whole (original) but due to time changes with HHN pushing back the full reveal by a week all this stuff came out today correct? demonfalconking
so why is everyone getting so worked up over something that is not the complete version , yes i understand this maybe another FEAR but seeing as they read our posts im sure they understand how much we hated fear and how he was portrayed everyone just needs to sit back and relax everything will become clear in time (no i dont know anything, i just have faith in the A&D department) Edited August 27, 2011 by demonfalconking
hhnFEARfan
I have alot of faith for this icon! She is just a little misunderstood by alot of people right now... But when the full commercial is revealed I bet it will show her dark/evil side... And She looks amazing in advertisements! LADY LUCK!! <
TheEyeOfHorus
no excuses for failure to manage the reveal of the icon/event. so far the ball has been dropped pretty much across the board this year from website to commercial (not from an enthusiast standpoint, but from the general public standpoint who are not going to come back to the site in an hour after being banished) and how it has all been handled. I disagree. It seems some of you are just setting the event up for failure in your eyes when the event hasn't even started. When people ask me about Horror Nights at work it's always just "oh, what's the theme?" If they go to the site, I can honestly say it's probably going to be just see if it's updated with house and zone information. How have they "dropped the ball"? What is there to handle? The event is not going to turn in to Scarowinds or some lower budget less exiting event all of a sudden. And also, this is the first year I know of where some much and yet so little has been teased for such a long time. If anything it should get the diehards stoked for what is in store to come. It keeps the speculation going and the hype building.

It keeps the speculation going and the hype building. How have they dropped the ball? What is there to handle? ok, for one... any company out there wants to control and manage how information gets into the hands of the public.. and more so what the initial impression is. Fist impressions are everything, especially in marketing. Now, when you set a date to reveal your information to the public, you want to make sure they see what you want them to see FIRST, and then anything after is ancillary. So Universal decides to do the reveal on Aug 31st... and a week before that all the marketing images and a cut of the commercial that they done want as the first impression is released to the public. THAT is the definition of dropping the ball, that is failure to manage your message. pure and simple. The Website. unengaging, gives very little buildup for the event and the game is as said, a walking disaster because your casual visitor is going to be banished quickly, never return, and have a bad impression of the event. When designing a "game" for marketing it should be used for drawing the user into your site... keeping them there longer and engaging them. Make them interested and give them a connection to the event. This game basically limits their time on the site and then drives them off. And once again... as far as getting the diehards stoked. The more you tease, and the more you build up... the farther and harder you fall when you fail to meet expectations. People know they can do better... once again look at 2008. Everything for that was well managed and designed. HHN not only has to live up to expectations of past events (which to some is quite low after the last 2 years) , but also expectations that fans build up... it makes it a hard fall when they dont meet those expectations. so that is 3 ways.... more to come as more is revealed.... Great points all around. Bravo. I actually really dig the website - but I'm a hardcore fan. I'm willing to put in the time and effort to look up strategies and beat the games without being banished. The average joe is gonna be knocked out almost immediately and never come back, frustrated. Hell, several friends were put off by entering their email address (though I understand why they had to do that). I still love the website - as long as it actually culminates in something. If it just... ends... with no payoff to our building of The House, I'll be slightly miffed. Can someone clarify why the reveal was pushed back in the first place? I feel like Universal made this decision quite a while back, hence the posts a few weeks ago referring to the reveal occurring on September 1st. Was it too hard to communicate to Burger King to not put up their ads yet, or to tell all of the affiliates to not put up commercials yet? Seems like a pretty big misfire - I don't really mind, the leak was a pleasant surprise in some ways (and a disappointment in others) but this is a fairly big deal for something that is typically kept under tight lock & key. Now, the commercial - I'm sorry, but I'm not going to set myself up hoping for a better commercial. There's too many fundamental problems wrong with the cut I saw for it to be salvaged with a longer cut. Things that would have to change... *cut the narrator, completely, until after the kill like in previous commercials (sans XX) *have the victim be silent UNTIL the "kill" *play some actual casino-style music versus whatever crap was going on *actually SHOW the kill, it's not clear at all what happens to our victim *make Lady Luck sound 10x more sinister *cut the 4th wall breaking moment at the end ...I don't think any of those things are going to happen, unfortunately. I think unless some of you insiders have actually seen the longer commercial (and maybe you have, but I'm guessing not), I don't think you should be hyping up the final version. Because this seems like exactly what happened last year with Ellen and the FEAR commercial - "oh, the final cut will be different!" - almost exactly the same. I REALLY hope I'm wrong. I really, really do. I really like the concept of this icon (though I suppose I liked FEAR too), and I think the print ads look marvelous. But any scariness that might've existed with Luck dissipated when she opened her mouth. Let's remember that no matter how you edit something, bad acting is still bad acting - I know this quite well as an aspiring filmmaker. By the way - for eveyrone who's still saying there's another "side" to Luck we haven't seen yet - I highly doubt it's going to be seen in the commercial at this point. And if it isn't, the general public won't know or care about it, and will thus judge Lady Luck based on what they see - a mildly attractive, aged redhead with a guy strapped to a wheel. Not particularly frightening.
