"Calendar Fear" House

You approach an over-sized calendar, the cover of which is folded over the back. The bottom of curls up as it rest on the ground, beckoning you in. The numbers and days of the week seem to shimmer as flashes of holiday figures appear on the white paper. You enter through a tear in the middle of the page, pushing back strains of fiber as you enter.

You are immediately surrounded by a vortex of swirling numbers and holiday names. You walk forward, disoriented, as the strains of Auld Lang Syne and monstrous laughter fills your ears. Ahead, you see banners proclaiming, “Happy New Year” hanging down. Exiting the vortex, a deformed baby, wearing a swath that reads “New Year,” appears from a basinet and cries out at you.

You enter a fitness room covered in post-it notes, which has New Year’s resolutions written on them. Centered in the room, an elliptical machine runs at full speed as an emaciated figure in a jogging suite works out. You hear him whisper that he needs to lose more weight, and the whispers of others resolutions around you. As you circle around the exerciser, another creature, covered in nicotine patches appears from behind you, coughing and shaking in need of another fix. You escape, pushing through the curtain with February 14 written on it.

You appear in an upscale restaurant. Arrows pierce the well-dressed corpses around you, and you can see the bouquets of flowers and boxes of chocolate strewn about. A woman in a black, sequin dress with running mascara and arrows in her chest lunges at you, screaming, “Be mine!” You escape around a corner before a massive Cupid appears above you, carrying a crossbow. He aims at you, and you feel the jets of air as fires in your direction. You run underneath through the curtains ahead

The room is dark and filled with fluorescent four-leaf clovers. A large pot sits in the corner with the light of the rainbow falling into it, but it is filled with body parts rather than gold. Suddenly, the clovers begin the flash as three hideous Leprechauns appear, chasing you away from their gold.

You turn the corner and reel from the stench that surrounds you. You find yourself in a chicken coop, surrounded by chickens with chains around their necks and bags over their heads. Troughs run from under each chicken with multi-colored eggs rolling into a large basket tended by a Worker Bunny. The bunny turns and lunges at you to get you away from the eggs, which causes all the chickens to screech in terror. The noise causes another Worker Bunny carrying a pitchfork to appear at the door to the coop behind you. You escape through the red-white and blue bunting ahead.

You enter a colonial house and see the Liberty Bell on display in front of you. The bangs of fireworks and patriotic music are heard in the distance. There is a body slumped over a writing desk with a quill pen stabbed into its back. From behind the desk, a zombified Thomas Jefferson attacks you. You escape around the Liberty Bell, before Benjamin Franklin appears. You escape out the door into a courtyard and the different colors of fireworks flash around you. You walk around a fallen cherry tree and confront George Washington, wielding a bloody ax.

You push through the brush and come out on the porch of a suburban home decorated for Halloween. You turn the corner a child-like Treater appears from the bushes behind the railing. As they go back into hiding, another Tricker appears in the window behind you. You move past the front door, the homeowner is tied to. It swings open as you pass it to reveal the attacking Tricker inside. You lift passed the toilet paper hanging down from above the porch.

You appear near a long, wooden table, covered with food. A Pilgrim sits on the other side of the table, gnawing on the entrails of the Native American’s body that lays sprawled out as part of the feast. As you cross by the table, another Pilgrim appears from the door of the cottage behind you. While you’re distracted, the Pilgrim at the table lunges at you with a large knife. You see a curtain that reads, December 25, and escape through it.

You find yourself in Santa’s Workshop and are startled to see the corpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus strung up one the wall with ribbon, stabbed with candy canes, and the dead body of Rudolph dripping blood above you. Signs reading, “Revolt,” “Elves Stand Tall,” “Work For Yourselves,” are plastered around the disturbingly festive seen. An elf pounds a hammer on the workbench before you, scaring you forward. From behind a Christmas tree, another elf appears holding a nail-gun. He fires it at you, pushing you towards, the “Happy New Year” sign hanging between the bodies of the Clauses. As you walk past, Mrs. Claus reaches for you, screaming for help. You stumble through the curtain as you flee…

… and find yourself surrounded by burned corpses, standing in a city street. The buildings rise above you as the multicolored flashes of the fireworks above make discerning anything difficult. You press forward, before a Reveler covered in burns lunges at you from the crowd. Suddenly you are surrounded, with Auld Lang Syne playing once more, the explosions of fireworks blaring, as multiple Revelers appear from the figures. You run to the calendar ahead, where the Old Year reaches down at you. You go through the curtain, leaving the nightmare. Without warning, another New Year Baby attacks you with a cry.

EDITED AND SLIGHTLY MODIFIED VERSION

The numbers and days of the week seem to shimmer as flashes of holiday figures appear on the white paper. You enter through a tear in the middle of the page, pushing back strains of fiber as you enter.

You find yourself in a hall of decaying bodies, each with the swath of previous years wrapped around them. The light rotates ahead, disorienting you while drawing you closer to the basinet sitting at the end of the hall. The corpses of previous years reach out at you from between the bodies, startling you forward until you reach the giant basinet. Suddenly, with the flash and explosion of fireworks, the New Year’s Baby appears, hideously deformed. You run away, stumbling through a curtain that reads February 14.

You appear in an upscale restaurant. Arrows pierce the well-dressed corpses around you, and you can see the bouquets of flowers and boxes of chocolate strewn about.
