Tony
I don't remember a pool table in Assimilation. If the new Thing house is going to be like The Wolfman it will mimic the movie closely and include a lot of props shown in the preview.
emily.on.elm.street
The Thing: Assimilation was one of my first houses ever, and I can definitely remember a pool table being in there because my friends and I all ducked behind it and ran through that room haha
cwoolboy
While I agree that, to me, a pool table does not indicate the presence of a Thing house, I will bow to Dr. Jimmy's opinion on this one. I've got to assume the man knows what he's talking about.
Circ
That's entirely inappropriate for a family website. You're implying that this or HHN is a family website. ;3 Anyhow... who's to say that this house will mimic the plot structure of the prequel? It could be a thematic "best of" like Doomsday was. e z_e
I'm pretty sure reading what Universal released about the house that it will be more close to the plot of the movie then a thematic best of..
Dr. Jimmy
I don't remember whether or not they had a pool table in Assimilation back in 2007. But they did have it in the Shaun of the Dead scene in Silver Screams in 2009. This is the same pool table that is now in SS 22. As Tony suggested, this house will copy set pieces used in the film very closely as the whole reason it is happening s because higher powers at Universal want a house that sells the movie and vice versa. This is the same strategy that went into The Wolfman in 2009. I fully expect to see the bar/rec room from the base in The Thing in this house. Here is a screencap of the room from the trailer: I should have posted this from the get-go instead of trying to be coy, although I was also protecting my sources. I see now that I'm not very good with the time thing either as it is appears at 00:40 - 00:41 rather than 00:33. As for the name Sarah, once again I must remind people that code words are red herrings deliberately chosen to mislead us. One of the female leads is a scientist with dark hair who sometimes wears cute little glasses. In Antarctica she would wear a heavy parka. So she would look a little bit like this: get it? Blizzrock13
It doesn't prove anything, but for the record, there was a rec room scene with a pool table. You had to walk around it, and it forced you towards the closet on the back right. There was a robotic 6 foot tall "thing" that come out of it timed with strobes. strangeoneout
Im hearing that our Extraction Company might take place on an unexpected location that would pretty much kill the no water concept. Boiler room and lots of steel still would fit though.
armyofrobots
Also, I don't think there was a pool table in 2007 because that one didn't take place at the Norwegian camp. There was a pool table in The Thing: Assimilation. There was a scareactor in there with a pool stick as well. I remember this specifically because before I was in NoES, I was in the Thing house as a scientist right before that pool table scene.
Mae
Keeping it brief: The first house in 2007 did not take place on the base shown in The Thing; it was supposed to take place in Florida. It did have a pool table. Pool tables don't mean anything specific; however, in consideration with what we do know, the chances are rather high that Dr J is completely on the money. JDW
I'm going to have to back up the doc on this one and The Thing is SS 22. Also I'm starting to hear conflicting info to our assumptions for the Jaws queue. Could we perhaps have misunderstood the clue?

Everytime I'm sure about something, I get new information which contradicts what I'd heard prior. I'm getting to a point where I'm feeling quite defeated this year! haha. Anyway... perhaps we've interpreted the clue for JAWS correctly... but have the setting for the extraction company wrong?
mystiquephreeq
Before I change my opinion on the location of The Thing, I have three questions. 1 Do we know of a scary scene in the movie that has the pool table in it? 2 Do we think Uni will use a pool table scene in another Thing house? 3 Do we know if this is the pool table that was used in the first Thing house, Creatures, & Silver Screams? A pool table is a rather large set piece, and would most likely be in a prominent piece in a house scene. If Uni gives The Thing the same treatment as The Wolfman, we should see very precise replication of the movie. That final question to me is the most important one. If memory serves, the pool table we have seen previously is very different than the one we see in the screen cap. Although it would be best to ask a certain ginger and mullet wearer about the similarities between the two tables.
kimlovesfl
Don't forget the pool table was in the Butchered Buck in Creatures. If you have looked at the cast list for SS22, what makes you think this would be the Thing house? Do any of those names sound related to the Thing? Do any names anywhere sound related to the Thing? Frankly, I think it's a toss-up where it could be.

I'm still not convinced the pool table would be used exclusively for the Thing, especially when we're expecting a Casino-style house. Not saying your reasoning isn't sound, I'm just not quite sold that Sarah = our female lead. Love your deduction though... so if her code name really was Sarah - props to Universal for that one. However - like Kim said, the rest of the code names seem completely off to me.

Guest HHNPicMan
On "The Thing" debate on stage 22, I am going to have to side with Dr. Jimmy. We may not have all the clues, but, that doesn't mean that Dr. Jimmy doesn't have sources that have told him something we don't know. Also, in other speculation, I feel like we will see a pirate themed house with really tight fitting costumes. I think we will see something having to do with luck, but maybe not gambling. I think we will have a house that portrays the glitz and glamour of the 1920 & 30's, but with twist. You know, the bright colored clothing worn by people like Dick Tracy. Also, who knows, I really feel like a dragon will be part of this event. How's this for speculation? You know what they say, the best place to hide something is right out in the open...... Happy Speculation, and let the good times roll...
Karras
I'm still waiting for the return of the "ICON HOUSE" (Screamhouse, Die-In...). Hopefully whoever the icon is this year her/his house is epic. The Dr. is always right. My sources told me so.

Dinosaur Pirate
There was a 7th color leaked for Hollywood SZ. Yellow... Doesnt really tell us much. Maybe it is 7 deadly sins? Quite possible. Usually the colors are: Pride- Violet Envy- Green Gluttony- Orange Lust- Blue Anger- Red Greed- Yellow Sloth- Light Blue But they do tend to vary. The "gold" people could actually be orange, and Sloth could have been changed to Pink for greater color variety.

This is a very similar list that I have written out, Im glad someone is having similar thoughts. I figured sloth would be blue and and pink would be lust. I thought of old boudoirs from the big band days that have those deep pinks. I switched gluttony and greed though.
